The Taken Thing

My sister can do the hammer dance better than Hammer himself....I wish you guys could see it! I need to get a digicam and force her (with a little liquid encouragement maybe) to do it for the camera!

:rotfl2: What Mia says is true! I haven't thought about that in a long time! Mia, you should get her to do it for the camera!

OH yes! Em has seen it for sure! I think the last time she did it voluntarily was after a LOT of liquid encouragement (which she very rarely does)

Oh and Mia, is it possible for someone to dance better than Hammer himself? LOL
...maybe it's not better than Hammer himself...but it's great to see a skinny little (very cute) white girl going "uh oh, uh-oh uh-oh uh-oh" and doing the dance. It's the part where he kind of steps back and forth real fast from side to side (very hard to explain). I don't know how I could get a video b/c I don't know anyone with a digital video camera. But hopefully soon I will be getting one. It's like the number two expensive "toy" on my wish list, next to a shiatsu chair massager for my back that costs like 100 bucks. Maybe if CoughCool's tax return is big enough (and he thinks it is....) to pay off a loan and get a second computer with money left over, maybe I'll ask for a Valentine's gift :) Then the problem is getting her to do it. Especially if I tell her it will be on the internet! And like I said, she hates to do it at all (unless of course, the liquid stuff is involved, and that is rare)....so it will take a lot to get her to do it! I'll tell ya what...anyone who wants to see it, PM me with the subject "Hammer Dance" and say: "Nicki, please please please let your sister film you doing the dance when she gets a video camera!" or something to that effect. Sign it with your vmk/dis name or real name, and I'll copy/paste all the PMs to a text file, and print it out. Maybe if I present her with a "petition" full of requests, she will do it! It'll be a while before I get a camera, so keep the PM's coming! If I can get 10-15 maybe she'll go for it! Hahaha. It's great you guys!

:dancer: <-----this is almost how the dance is but not exactly....just kinda close

Mia, I know what dance you mean and that would be fun to watch! If she does do it, you'll have to have her wear the big pants! LOL

(Are we still on the "Taken" thread or have I spontaneously entered a new thread!? LOL We have gotten so off topic it is only as if you could say we are on a new topic! :lmao: )

I think this thread needs some comic relief! So now we can all thank Alien! :lmao: (quick turn of events lol)

His new song "When I'm Gone" makes me cry. Seriously, I try not to but I get halfway through it and I start choking up. Maybe it's a daddy thing. I think he's one of the few voices in rap music that actually has something to say.

How could you not like "Lose Yourself"?

It isn't the music, it's the rap. I have read some lyrics and he is certainly a better writer than a "singer". IMHO. I don't like the way he raps, so the music is not what I find annoying. ;)

EDIT: Just listened to "When I'm Gone." Don't like the rap but OMG!!!! What a sad song!! I understand why so many people like Eminem now lol.

Personally, I hate rap. HATE rap. But I like Eminem :confused3 . Kind of like I HATE country, but I LOVE Garth Brooks. A lot of country fans don't like Garth. It's weird, I dunno.

I'm all for taking the topic back to the taken thing....if anyone has anything new to say!

Back on topic so its not this: :offtopic:

Okay, It all maters really about the taken thing. If you give the person time, you may become what I call "virtual boy/girl friend." Now it's not boyfriend girl friend, its a friend that is either a boy or a girl, duh. So, I do admit, I have a girlfriend in VMK. I didn't give her time, but I knew that we would be great best friends. And in fact, even though er are taken, we dont go gooy gah-gah. We are just next to eachother, telling jokes, or around otehr friends of ours ( I still remember when we took over the popcorn stand in the central plaza.) It just matters on the person. Yes, I do know its wrong for young children, but if you are at that age when those things start in real life, this actually might be a good start to push you in the right direction.

So, whatever you do, you'll never be wrong. If you reach for it... (from a song, but I'm just using that to finish my post, because that's how I feel.)

Well, that sounds OK to me. And you seem to be older than 8 years old. So if you are like 13-14, then it's a cute thing to do. But I just can't stand the "u taken" in place of "hello, how are you?" greeting.

I will admit something that will probably shock all of you, given my position on this topic. My first day on VMK I talked to a boy a bit, and asked him questions like newbies do, and he asked if I was taken. I was thinking, "yeah, I have a fiance (boyfriend then) in real life." I think I told him that and he said you can have a boy or girl friend in the game too. I was like sure, why not. We barely talked, and I never saw him after that. I started seeing the "taken" thing going on everywhere and deleted him, thinking "ew he's probably like 10". Like it would matter, to me he's just a little cute avatar, just like I was to him. But at least we talked first and then he asked to be my "VMK boyfriend". After reading people's comments on the opposite side of the debate, I think it's ok as long as you are acting appropriately (I was a boy the other day and this girl said "u cute, lets get it on". Then I reported her and told her so, she turned around and said it to another 'boy'. Luckily, he said "gross, no, not like that". I told him he should report her too). I donno if I said that earlier or not. If it's like renpener says, it's harmless and cute for those awkward ages where it's hard to talk to boys/girls in your class or whatever, face to face. I got reminded of those days when I found my 5th grade crush (who I was too shy to EVER tell him or even talk to him) online the other day.

So my new position is: taken is ok, if you are at least 11-12 or older, just get to know each other, and be friends. have fun together, don't play "lets have a bay be" b/c that is pretty gross to me still. It's like playing "doctor". I did see some "doc" stuff but not anymore, I guess vmk cracked down on that mess. (thank god). Just girls, don't be so desperate to crowd around every "cute boy" and beg him to be your "boi". Just hang out, talk to boys and girls, and if you find a friend of the opposite gender that you really like, have them as your vmk boy/girl friend. But this agressive-female-warrior-attacking-of-boys has got to stop...."u taken u taken u taken u taken u taken u taken u taken u taken u taken u taken u taken u taken u taken", it's all I see. As my old friend Billy would say, "Ratch it down a notch".

Well said Mia...

The thing that annoys me the most is that the little girls just seem so random and obsessive about it... where if they'd calm down and just have fun and talk they may actually end up with a good friend who is even a boy...

and yes I hate the word boi- that should be taken out of the dictionary along with wat and wronger/wrongest... but that is off topic a bit

And it isn't saying you are "taken" or having a boy/girl friend in the game it really is how it seems like the only way these kids can exist is if they have a boy/girl friend- and yes I know that is somewhat reflective on what goes on in real life...

BTW Mia- the boyfriend/girlfriend things at school probably starts around third grade- 8-9 yo- in real life again it is usually the girls pushing for it- hey they watch Raven or Lizzie and see them dating and having crushes (doesn't matter that their characters are much older that is what they see and want to copy)- So I don't see it as so much of a problem for the younger kids- the problem comes when you have those like you mentioned who "have a bay be" or "get it on" that is beyond most (not all mind you) 8 and 9 year olds...

Really most would probably be surprised what their 10 yo know about and what their 11-13 yo are doing, have done, have friends that do... it is a big problem in middle schools here and we aren't this big city or anything- and yes even there it is the girls mostly initiating and pushing for it...

SO I guess I understand and accept the taken thing- I would so rather my own 8 yo avoid it- and in comparison to my now 13 (almost 14 yo) she is much more innocent- but lots of times I see the girls do that and it just grates on my nerves- because I want to tell them how tacky and pathetic that looks... sigh

On another note- I was waiting for a game of fireworks to start with mostly all girl avatars- and some guy was standing there going- "hey girls- I'm not taken. Anyone need a boi?" I started laughing and really almost did fall on the floor (but that was probably because I was sitting funny on the sofa and my son jumped on me because I was laughing)- anyway I just said- all girls here are interested in credits and ice blocks not boys right now... if you have any of those to give you may get some to take you up on the offer when they get boot from the game" lol

Yeah the thought of online dating creeps me out! -shudder- We can only hope that kids are smart enough not to want to do that :sad2:

I don't really understand it myself, but I know 2 married couples that met online and they are happy. But who know how many "blind" dates they had with other online people before finding true love. Sort of like real life I guess, but there is no octopus hands to deal with.

ok just bumping this up with something which happened which amused me

well erm someone asked VMK_Red to be is girl friend

don't know why it amused me but just did... so um yeah

LOL wonder if he was kidding or not? If he wasn't kidding, wonder if he realized she was staff? Was it a guest? :rotfl2:

That is another thing that bugs me as much if not more than a girl going up to a boy and saying "u taken": a girl or boy saying to an entire room "does anyone want to be my boy/girl?" I mean, would they do that IRL, like in a store or something? Walk into a store in the mall and announce, "hey, does any boy here need a girlfriend?" :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: I think I may try that sometime, see what kind of response I get....

LOL :lmao: :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl: You guys are still talking about it and yet it isn't changing anything at all..
If you really have a problem take it up with the vmk guys..

I don't really have a big problem with it because as I said "It's more of a pen pal realationship.. :teeth:

Should boys and girls on vmk be "taken"? How many signatures on vmk say "taken" or "not taken and still looking" Take the poll! I'll spill the bean (the results) after there is 13 responces or more! Plz reply with your vmk name and why/why not you think you should have the taken thing in vmk!

Taken? Oh I dont thinkppl should be taken on vmk.I feel sorry for all those ppl that got sucked into the whirlpool of being taken on this game. :worried: Maybe they are just crazy.
