I just checked the prices again on Alamo with the same mousesavers codes I used on my original reservation for May and the SUV prices have dropped again!! Mine went from $150 to $135...for a week!! The standard size SUV is lower also. I had to book a new reservation - I tried to modify my original and the new price wouldn't carry through for some reason so I just canceled that one and booked a new reservation.

Good luck everyone - keep checking the rates!! (Although I can't IMAGINE they could go any lower than this!!). :cool1:

The prices for National mid-size SUV also dropped yesterday using the 6600330 code and their $25 coupon. I have one reserved for 1 week and 1 day for a total of $173 including taxes. The base price for the week was $136 now. It's sad that the intermediate price is higher. Hopefully this trend with rental companies will continue and we'll start seeing falling prices, because the prices are pretty high right now. My trip is Feb. 2-10, but haven't seen any movement for my April 23- May 5 trip yet.

Okay, Jeanne B., quick! Can you tell us specifically what are the codes you used? Maybe I can catch the deal this time! :flower:

Try this...

Click on the $15 off e-coupon link in the upper right-hand corner of their home page and then enter Rate Code BY and ID 430710 (from mousesavers).

Using those codes, I got May 16 - May 23 for $159.98 inc. tax, so I booked it...it's certainly better than other rates right now! Thanks so much for your help!

Thank you so much!! I just booked a Mid-Size SUV for Mar 22-29 for $152.xx including tax! That's $50 cheaper than the mid-size car I had previously booked.
Thanks

Thanks! Between the coupon and the rate drop, I saved $20 off my May rental.

i just got another $30 off of a minivan rental for next week!!! the total with taxes is $149 for 1 week :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: everytime the prices drop i think this is it, it can't go any lower.....but every few days i check the price and it keeps on dropping. i'm not complaining, but it is very odd how the prices change :confused3 of course i will be hoping it drops again within the next few days :woohoo: !

Thanks from me too! Even though I'm a diehard National customer (Executive Aisle) I too have strayed to Alamo for prices too good to pass up. I just booked the mid-size SUV for my 13 day trip (late April early May) and my base rate after the coupon was $109 a week for each of 2 weeks. My total was $284 for 2 weeks. I can't even get an intermediate car on National for that timeframe for less than $200 a week for EACH week. However, my Feb trip in 2 weeks is pretty much the same. Though the base rate is higher at National, not paying concession fees makes the prices pretty equal for me. I plan to pass this information to my many friends who are traveling in May and are dieing for a decent discount. Keep up the good work and I'll be watching for further drops if that is possible.

Thanks for the heads up, still looking for deals for my 6/24-7/2 rental.

If you are interested in this coupon the OP mentioned it is $15 off using coupon code D42C, Reserve a Compact through Luxury car, Minivan, SUV or Convertible in the United States.

Offer valid for rentals picked up by 5/31/06.

Requires a 5-day minimum rental.

28-day maximum rental.

I also just changed my Alamo rental for 5/6-5/12/06. I've got it down to $120 for a mid-size SUV and that includes taxes! I was able to use a $25 coupon sent to me via email from the Entertainment book folks to try to entice me to resign up to the Entertainment book, as well as code 430710 and rate code BY. I, too, am usually a diehard EA customer, but National does not come close at all to Alamo. We are signed up for Quiksilver so I'm hoping that'll reduce our time in line as we can't do on-line check -in as we have the SUV, as well as the coupon.

Boy, that's cheap! Not to highjack this thread, but how you get the Entertainment book folks to try to entice you?

What codes did you use to get this good rate if you don't mind me asking because that is an awesome weekly rate you got. Congrats!

I can't get the code to work. :sad2: I even tried the same dates as some of y'all. I am going June 3-9

The code will only work thru the end of May.

With the AP code I got an 8 day SUV res in June for $161...hope to add on a coupon from the web-site later.

I don't care for Alamo but; don't think National will ever lower their rates!

Does anyone know if it's ok to combine the Wal-Mart code listed on Mousesavers with the Entertainment book coupon? Alamo's site is letting you do it, but I would hate to get up to the counter and have them deny the rate because two different discounts were used.

I used the walmart code 430710 and BY and the $15 coupon on their site D42C (all public codes). I got the base weekly rate (for each week) of $114 (minus the coupon it breaks down to about $109 a week). I tried the passholder code, but the walmart code beats the price by $1.
