So help me prepare mentally...we are booked to go Nov 18-20, Sun thru Tues before Thanksgiving. When I looked at crowd calendars it gave these days slightly less crowded than the day before Tday and the days right after...My DD has school off the whole week of Thanksgiving, which I'm hoping is not the norm for most schools. :confused3
So in your opinions will be be totally insanely crowded??

Yes, I'm wondering the same thing and was about to start my own thread. My wife and I were thinking about a quick one day trip (all the time we have) with our two girls on the Monday before Thankgiving. It would be their first time, but are afraid of the crowds. She had a bad childhood expirence with a crowded Disneyland on her first time. She doesn't want a repeat for our girls. I do know one thing, a lot of So Cal schools have the whole week off.

It wasn't too bad last year. With that said, I wouldn't expect the same this year now that Cars Land is open crowds have been up overall. The days of a "slow" season are gone. Most schools in SoCal have the whole week off.

We've been going at Thanksgiving for a number of years now -- our girls are out of school the entire week of Thanksgiving: We went Friday - Tuesday AFTER Thanksgiving one year (girls had to miss 2 days of school), then we tried Saturday - Tuesday BEFORE Thanksgiving the next year. Once we did the BEFORE, we don't plan on doing that again for a LONG time; we found AFTER to be much better. Of course, that includes the MONDAY after, when almost EVERYONE is back in school, so that helps.

Now, having said all of this, let me offer one tip that I think is SUPER important -- It's DISNEY and you're already booked and coming -- crowds will be present, you'll be having a great time, and just don't stress out too much in advance trying to guess about the crowds, and second guessing your date choices, etc. GO WITH THE FLOW and have a great time!!

It will definitely be crowded due to it being a Holiday week. But much better than the day before and days after.

The week after is typically slower.

Thanksgiving week is always crowded, but lately it seems like every time we go it is busy. Try to do things in the early morning and then site see during the day. The weather is beautiful and so is the decorations. I would much rather deal with Thanksgiving crowds then July crowds and weather.

I've learned not to get too concerned about the crowds and just go with an open mind and just plain have fun. With the new Carsland its hard now to predict when the parks will be busiest. Just think of them as always busy and have a flexible plan to have the very best time possible.

We try to get to the esplanade before opening and ride as many things as possible before the crowds build over the day. Then when (and if!) it gets crazy packed, find things to do that won't get you all frustrated. We like to get something to drink, or a snack, and sit someplace and people watch. Then just wander around and while doing so, you might find a ride that doesn't have a horrible wait time.

The Big Thunder Jamboree is a great place to go to get away from the madness if you find yourself in the parks on a terribly busy day. I don't know what they will have there after halloween, but probably something themed toward thanksgiving or christmas. Billy Hill and the Hillbillies are there now, and they have stuff for the kids to do.

The important thing is to remember you're at the happiest place on earth no matter how many people are there along with you! :cool1:
