So I'm hopping along with the rest of you and starting a PTR. Never done one, and never done one in English neither so forgive me my weird sentences and spelling mistakes! :rotfl:

The Summer Magic and OMG We're going to see Dreams! - Pré Trip Report

1. The plan
- Going by Car (nice 3 hour drive for us Belgians, which never passes quickly enough)
- Booked 2 nights/3 days package at Newport Bay Club for my boyfriend alone in a standard room. Will be ringing Disney a few weeks a head to let them know that I will be staying too, will be paying tourist tax at arrival and that I won't be needing tickets since I have a Dreampas. *glowing with pride*
- Arriving early morning on Wednesday 8th of August 2012 and heading back home on Friday 10th of August 2012 at about 9 PM.

3. Previous Trips

1. Thursday 6th of August 'till Sunday 9th of August 2009
Both first-timers and it was love at first sight. We went in the middle of Summer season so fireworks and fantilusion every night. We had feared the famous Disneyland queues yet first two days it was very calm (max. queuing about 20 minutes or so) and the last two went well with usage of Fastpass and some shopping time. We were totally unprepared, had no idea about the massive choice of restaurants, show schedules (I remember us walking on Town Square to head for the hotel and to go showering and suddenly noticing the floats of the parade going by and just stopping to watch like "Hey, is there a show on?" :rotfl:), ... So we ate at the hotel twice, Pizza Planet twice for lunch and made a reservation for Plaza Gardens on the morning of the day itself and did a lot of attractions. Tough I did discover the many souvenir shops in the Village on our first night. Stayed 3 nights / 4 days package at Santa Fe in a standard room.

2. Thursday 4th of November 'til Sunday 7th of November 2010
Second visit, first time Christmas Season. Yet, still very unprepared. I had discovered Dlrpfans (a Belgian fan forum) a few weeks a head yet not early enough to go into intensive planning. Did get a few pointers out of there so we were a bit less lost then the first time. Stayed at hotel Cheyenne for 3 nights / 4 days and Christmas season was officialy starting the 6th of November. So first two days we saw Christmas decorations pop up everywhere and the third we suddenly were greeted by Christmas songs trough the speakers and fake snow in Main Street (which resulted into me screaming "OH LOOK IT'S SNOWING!" and needing about 10 minutes of convincing by my boyfriend that it was NOT real snow :rotfl:). Ate at Annette's twice, discovered Café Mickey for the first time and ate at the hotel once too. It was very calm (no one had vacation but us Belgians) so basically no queuing, which was like a dream come true!

3. Thursday 10th of November 'till Sunday 13th of November 2011
Third trip, second time Christmas season. Was vacation for almost everyone so VERY crowded (except for the first day) and lots of queuing. Went back to Café Mickey, Pizza Planet and Annette's and ate at the hotel once. Met Duffy for the first time and again, love at first sight! I bought enough Christmas decorations to fill 3 Christmas trees with. :rotfl2: Stayed 3 nights / 4 days in Sequoia Lodge in a Montana room in the main building. Was active for about a year on the fanforums yet we made the mistake of thinking it wouldn't be crowded so didn't make diner reservations. This resulted into a LOT of puzzling and fiddling when we were there to make reservations at arrival for Café Mickey, seeing as there was barely anything available!

4. 21th of April 2012 - Daytrip Disneyland Park
The Disney virus had really kicked in by then. After November trip I felt like I was homesick, for Disneyland. So we decided we were going back very soon and in Januari a 30% early booking offer came on. We gladly took it and booked for August. I had already decided that I was finally (after 3 years of doubting) getting my Dreampas and ordered one on CE multiavantages that same week of booking. Yet when it arrived at home, the problems began. I had asked for one specifically trade able until 8th of august since we were arriving then, obviously, the one I got would expire on 6th of August... Only one thing to do: Book an earlier trip! :cool1:
So we ended up going a day by bus and taking 2 friends a long. Yet, they totally spoiled it for us. They really didn't like anything, spent the day whining about things being expensive, rides being lame, ... I know, they're aliens right?!!
That and circumstances of the bustrip not being well (drove for 7 bloody hours! We do 3 hours over it by car! Arrived at 11 AM, left back at 8.30 PM so no Dreams and we missed the parade 'cause we didn't have time to eat otherwise), made it the least pleasant trip so far for us. So we are really looking forward to August and making the most out of it!

4. Must Do's List

- Watch Dreams!
- Watch Magic On Parade
- Watch Fantilusion
- Eat at Inventions (first time. Quite a bite out of the budget but reviews have convinced me, and the food on the pictures looks so delicious!)
- Eat at Café Mickey, Plaza Gardens & Annette's
- Start an autograph book (Yes, I AM an adult, I honestly am! :rotfl:)
- Meet Duffy, Winnie and Rapunzel
- Ride BTM in the dark
- Ride the Teacups in the dark
- Make it to breakfast in time both mornings (would be the first time we actually succeed in doing this tough! :rotfl2: )

I'm being a little obsessive with my planning (My boyfriend currently runs away screaming whenever I mention the word "Dining planning" :rotfl2: ) and probably a bit early. But with last trip being not so good, I just want the next one to be perfect!
So I'm fiddling around with microsoft office Publisher trying to make a planning to print out when we go and take in my bag. Yet I'm waiting for the first showplanning and openinghours of the summer season, which I hope will be on the Disneyland site end of June/beginning of July. So when that's on I can make it all final and ring for restaurant reservations. :goodvibes
Yet, my dinner planning is going to have chanced about a thousand times by then. I think I've already swapped it around like 100 times in 2 weeks. :rotfl: It'll help when the show planning is on tough, I'm trying to plan dinner and lunch around shows and parades so we don't miss out on to many of those. I'll try and put a printscreen on here of my planning one of these days.

Eeek I'm so excited! I've got about a month of school to go, then exams in June, and then we're going to Salou from 8th 'til 22 July so thankfully something to count down to that's a little more nearby! So July should pass fast enough, and exams usually do to so basically I just need to get trough this horrible month of classes. Thank God for forums like these were I can let it all out! :worship:

Your plans sound great :thumbsup2

It's a pity your last trip wasn't so great. Always disappointing when your friends don't share your love for Disney - I don't understand these people either :confused3

Lucky you being a 3 hour drive away - we'd be there more often if we lived closer.

Look forward to hearing the rest of your plans - oh, and I've just noticed we share the same birthday :thumbsup2 Unfortunately not the same year though :rotfl::rotfl:

Exactly 3 more months to go! :yay:
So I think I've finally got the permanent dinner planning, which is way more expensive then I had hoped. Thank God for the Dreampas discount in restaurants! :worship: I've bought most of the souvenirs I really wanted in April already so I don't have to calculate in to much for souvenir shopping. And since I'm graduating this June I'm sort of hoping for a nicely filled envelope/piggy bank from a few familymembers. :rolleyes1 *crosses fingers*

Further I've planned on trying to NOT take to much luggage and just use my darkblue sportbag I bought at Disney last time. So this means it all has to fit into this bag:
380412_1671040873366_1757701627_839013_538707107_n.jpg

I'm very curious as to how that's going to play out. I'll probably end up jumping and sitting on it in order to get the zipper to zip closed! :rotfl2:

I'm hoping for a hot summer, in 2009 when we were there it was about 30°C and we didn't have a hotel with pool, this time, WE DO! So I hope we'll be needing it and that we can go take a dive.

So here are the printscreens of my planning I promised. It's in Dutch, yet most thing sort off explain for themselves but I've put translations along. :goodvibes

@ MS Poppins: It's my boyfriend who's driving, if it were up to me we'd probably just live on the parking lot or something. :lmao: Never heard of the saying "age is just a number?" As long as we're all young at heart, that's all that matters! ;)

You are very organised and I love your planning cards. :goodvibes I noticed that you have fantilusion on your must do list but not on any of the planning cards.

You are very organised and I love your planning cards. :goodvibes I noticed that you have fantilusion on your must do list but not on any of the planning cards.

I've got no idea as to when it's going to be so I'm sort off waiting for the first week of summer season planning to come online so I can fumble that in there. :rotfl: I'm assuming it'll be between the first and second showing of Dreams OR before the first showing.
Thank you! I just made them with Office publisher, I just hope I won't forget to print them out before taking off. I can totally see myself sitting in the car halfway there going "OH NO! I forgot my planning!". :rolleyes2

There is only one showing of dreams at the moment so I'm wondering if they will do fantilusion instead of the first showing of dreams?

Wow, I'm impressed by your planning! ::yes::

I wish I could plan my days like that, but as we have two young girls with us, it never quite works out like that :lmao:. So, other than EMH and meals and the usual 'head to first' rides. We kind of take it as it comes!

Good luck with fitting it all in :) At least this time there is only yourself and your BF to please. Oh, and good luck with your exams too! :thumbsup2

Update time.
So I finally got my schedule for the exams period and it turns out to be rather calm which I hadn't expected.
11th of June first exam, 12th the second and then 19th of June the third and final one. 29th of June is graduation day and the day I'll know my results (and get to pick op my diploma! :cool1: ). So meanwhile I've been scanning the job market since I'm looking at starting to work in August/September. With my over 2 weeks holiday to Spain planned July didn't seem like a good idea, and I'm hoping my future boss will forgive me the 3day absence for Disneyland if I happen to start in august.
So I'm looking for something administrative, which, apparently, is not that easy to find. So I'm currently happy with just sales something in a supermarket or something in the genre, just something to keep me going until I happen to spot a job opening that has the word ME written all over it.

Further I'm very proud to announce that I haven't edited my planning charts in about a week, which is a first!
Yet I just discovered that the Tarzan The Encounter show will be on too and we do wanna see this at least once, so I'm again waiting for show hours to be released and I'll probably have to do a lot of puzzling then. :rotfl:
So basically I'm hoping for start of July soon: No more exams, show schedules for the summer season AND almost departure day for 2 weeks of sun and beach in Spain! :worship:

Oh, and I got my results from my very first exam which was 2 weeks ago or something: 43,5/50, I almost fell of my seat with amazement, I expected it to be a true nightmare. Well, it was definitely a shocker! :lmao: At least it's a good start, now I just have to drag myself trough the 3 remaining ones. :goodvibes

glad to hear the first exam went well. :goodvibes

You sound just like me!!! I have a spreadsheet that I do all me planning (and frequent re-planning) on and then print out an itinerary too!! I have already started for our next trip which isn't for another 6 months!!

Congratulations on your first exam & good luck for the others. What a relief when it's all over! :thumbsup2

Make sure you don't break the zip on your beautiful bag with your packing! ;)

Okay, so scratch that "I haven't edited my dinner planning in a week", 'cause I already altered it about 4 times in the past 3 days. :lmao:
So, new planning, same hours, different restaurants:
First day: Lunch at Walt's, dinner at Café Mickey
Second day: Lunch at Annette's, dinner at Inventions
Third day: Lunch at Cowboy Cookout, dinner at Plaza Gardens

So I kicked rainforest out, because we've decided that well be doing this in October. Oh, did I mention: I GET TO PLAN TWO TRIPS AT THE TIME! WOOHOOW! :cheer2: :yay:  I just convinced my boyfriend this week that we are definitely going for the Halloween season! So I'm totally excited now, 'cause when we leave in August the goodbye will only be for a month or two. I love the thought of walking trough those gates the last time and meanwhile being able to count down to the next time I'll be walking trough them in the opposite direction again! :cool1:

We're hoping for Halloween night itself, yet a lot will depend on my working situation. I won't have any payed vacation days until January, so I'm hoping for a very sweet boss who'll let me take the 31st of October as an unpayed vacation day (1th of November I'll have anyway since it's some sort of holiday). Other option would be the terrorific night, which is the weekend right after my birthday so I'd be celebrating it in Disney, which sounds very good to! I just hope I can sign a contract somewhere very fast so I can ask them about this and see what they say. if it's a no then so be it, we'll just go for terrorific, I'm just happy to be able to see the Halloween season.

Oh, tomorrow's my last class of one course already. It's going so fast right now! I've got two weeks and a half of classes to go for the rest of my courses, yet one less after tomorrow will be so relaxing.
Secretly I think I'm even going to miss school and being a student a bit. I've been looking forward to graduation for years and can't wait to start working and earn my own money, but it's all so final now. It's going to be so weird not to see my teachers and classmates everyday or not having to hate the month June anymore since I'll have no more exams! I just hope I'm going to find a job that I like enough to keep doing. Think I'd freak out totally if my first job would be a disaster with horrible coworkers or a maniacal boss, I'd probably run back screaming to my class room begging my teachers to let me back in. :rotfl:
Ah well, I'll be happy if I get some satisfaction and a paycheck out of it. Right now I feel sort off useless wasting my time in some courses, 'cause I know I don't need some of them and already know everything that'll be educated in there. When working at least I'll be doing something useful, so that'll make a big difference. :goodvibes

Update!
So I've told you guys I'm graduating (no really?) and that I'm scanning the jobmarket at the moment. Yet my vacation to Spain and 3 days Disney in August were a bit of a downer for most appliances so we've just rung reservations line to ask if we could move our trip a little closer, so I could just work trough out the whole month of August immediately.
This would have cost us 100 extra euros so I asked for the room only prices, which in the end came out cheaper including an AP for my boyfriend. So we changed our package deal to a room only booking and we'll be getting my boyfriend a fantasypas the first day, that way I already have one stamp for my parraigne forms. :goodvibes

So now we're going from 25th 'til 27th July, so 2 weeks earlier then planned!

Yaay, I rang (rung? Which is it again? ) the restaurant reservations line yesterday. totally nervous 'cause I HATE making phone calls, especially the ones not in my native language. At first the CM started rambling in French and I sort of just squeaked "I thought I chose for the English option?" having been totally out of it out of utter shock. Thankfully she went on in (awful) English which had such an accent I actually preferred her speaking French but ah well, at least she was making an effort.
So anyway, I made our dinner reservations. Only Plaza Gardens couldn't be reserved up until end of June so I'll have to ring again for that one then. Didn't really explain why but okay. :confused3

Sooo, what has it finally become? THIS:

First day Wednesday 25 July:
Lunch: Didn't book anything. Planning on Annette's Diner at about 12/12.30, depends on wether or not we grab a croissant for breakfast and if we'll be hungry soon.
Dinner: Booked Inventions for 8 PM! I actually kicked that one out and back in the schedule several times because of the high price and I don't know if it'll be worth it, but I figured if we don't try it we'll never know.

Second day Thursday 26 July:
Lunch: Booked Café Mickey for 12 PM. We'll probably have a three course meal (the set one). Well, I am, and boyfriend will probably be hungry enough for three courses too. ;)
Dinner: Booked Walt's Restaurant for 8 PM again. Three course meal again. So we've got two table service meals with three courses in one day, yet I think (and hope) I've counted in enough time between the two of them to build up an appetite for dinner. With the long summer days with late nights and early mornings we'll probably eat and drink more then normally anyway.

Third day Friday 27 July:
Lunch: Booked Cowboy Cookout for 12.30 PM since 12 sharp wasn't available anymore.
Dinner: Planning on Plaza Gardens at 8 PM, yet as I mentioned previously I have to call back for that one at the end of june.

So in case you haven't noticed: We've got character meals everyday! :dance3: :cheer2: :cool1:
So I'm totally happy with my final planning! I had a 200€ budget a person for food and didn't cross it (comes down to a rough 220€ and I haven't counted the annual pass discount in, so I'm head on the 200€ when I count that off, but hey, I didn't cross it! :rotfl:)

And now all I have to decide is whether I'll be bringing my boyfriend in with parraigne forms for an AP or order one at CE Multiavantages. I'm sort of worried I won't be able to collect enough stamps for the free 12 months and in that case he'll have payed more for nothing.

Yes, I'm updating again. Excitement has got me browsing DISboards and other forums/websites that are Disneyrelated like an addict.

So I made my own autograph book! Totally proud 'cause it worked out a lot better then I had expected. I ordered it at Kruidvat to have printed like a photobook you can have made. This is the result:

I'm so curious, I hope I'll get a message to come pick it up at the store soon. Should take about 4 days so it should be there on Friday since I ordered it this weekend.

Update!

So last friday I got my results and I did it, I FINALLY graduated! :cool1:
Right after the graduation ceremony me and the boyfriend left for a weekend at Ostend, so we could profit from the sales that started. I scored some trousers and a pretty dress, all for under 10€ a piece.

Today I've started packing for our Salou vacation. My mom is washing and ironing clothes in overdrive in order to get them all clean and packed in time. :rotfl: I've put some stuff (mostly toiletries like shower gel, shampoo and such) in bags yet for Disneyland too, since I won't have much time to pack between getting home from Salou and heading off for Disneyland. I'm still hoping for nice sunshine and warm summer nights!

hi there you will be there when we are 21st till 26th july ,the black purse in your photo is the same as the one im taking and i also love salou esp the log flume in port adventurer enjoy your trip

Ohmygod 1 more day!!! :cool1:  :woohoo: :yay:
We had a lovely holiday in Salou. We visited Port Aventura for a day and saw Fiestaventura in the evening. Wonderfull show which made me curious for Dreams even more. :rolleyes1
So we got back on Sunday and I immediately unpacked as if possessed. I don't think my laundry has EVER been done so fast. :rotfl2:
On Monday I got to repack everything in my Disney bag, and I was very surprised to see that it actually all fits! AND the zipper holds, woohoow! :cool1:
Today I did some last minute shopping and bought myself some white summery sneakers. They're made off almost all cotton so not to hot for the temperatures we'll be getting. According to the weather forecast we'll be getting 30°C all 3 days! :worship:
