The Stowaway Diaries: Mistakes, Retakes & Double Takes Update 4/30

Love the Simba pic! Vik is really into holding that lion!

I'm sure Pocahontas fends off grey haired men all day! Am I the only one who didn't get to meet Jiminy?!:sad2:

We LOVE the yakketity yak ride! I hope Faith knew better than to waste those FPs!

It sounds like you all had a great trip! Can't wait to hear about your near death experience Sharon!

Sharon - I am glad to see that I am not the only adult that loves her picture taken with the characters. I do however not dance and sing with them. :lmao: I would if Vik was there with me though. I have never seen Flick or Jiminy (he's one of my favorites too). The baby Simba picture is cute too. I have never been on EE but look forward to it when we return next year. I can't believe you almost lost your life. I hope you are more careful for the rest of the trip. Oh and the comment about Disney being for adults. I totally understand. When I was in WDW with just DH (pre kids) I was 27, I followed around Eeyore because I wanted my picture with him and he ignored me. I boycotted the characters for the rest of the day. But Chip & Dale the next day made me forget how fresh Eeyore had been the day before. Can't wait for more.

LOVE the static-free Simba picture! This was another great installment. I was a little scared of the dino pic:hug: glad ya made it out okay.
I still have not seen jimminy, it's on my to do list for April!
Looking forward to more.... I'm nervous!

BTW Static cat's nickname is Yeti! :lmao:

This TR is my sanity break from real life!!

Sharon - Are you excited about your return trip to WDW in a few months?? You WILL share all the details when you travel with Faith again, rigth?

WHAT???? First you tell me that she disses and IM's at work. Now are you telling me that Faith is going back to WDW this spring? She has not mentioned this here at work. Maybe the reason she hasn't said anything is that this is our busiest time of the year. In May and June, we all work 12 hour shifts, 6 days a week in the office. So she's planning to skip out and leave us hanging. Yeah, yeah, what a great boss she is.

Very nice Sharon. Be careful jumpping out.

Who knew when I set off on this adventure that I would have to face so many dangers? All I wanted to do was ride It's A Small World.

Monica, sorry you didn't get to meet Jiminy. I'm not sure he'll be out ever again. His experience with these two scarred him for life--he's a changed cricket now. I got lucky though and I'll get to meet him myself in the next installment. That's right. Even Flat People can do character meets.

When Vik started singing, Mike and Mo moved quickly towards the turnstiles as if they did not know her. I thought it was fun to see someone that age discover the Magic for the first time in their lives though. After she left Ballou, she immediately asked if anyone had gotten a picture of the two of them dancing.

Faith had a bad experience on a prior trip trying to meet Tigger. It must be something with those Pooh characters. This group didn't even see Pooh or the gang on this entire trip.

That dinosaur almost had a SharonSnack for lunch that day. That was scarier than sitting through one of Faith's staff meetings! And I hope for your sake that Jiminy comes out of hiding by April. If not, check inside all of the cardboard boxes that bottled water comes in. I hear that's a great hiding place.

Great pictures! I didn't plan on meeting any characters but you looked like you were having so much fun. :goodvibes
I'm glad flatSharon didn't get eaten. :scared1:

Kathy, Faith has this rule about only meeting new characters, ones she has not met before. It gives her something to occupy her rather small mind, trying to find some new ones each trip. At least she stopped carrying the autograph book and the huge Mickey pen around.

I was very surprised on this trip to see how many adult only people do meet the characters. Although Mo is the only gray haired man I saw doing solo meets. He's "special".

Faith's friends are very accomodating, or maybe that's what she wants us to think............

All of the people who hang around Faith are very easy going. It helps to balance out the personalities that way. There's Faith on one side of the scale and everyone else is on the other side. :rotfl:

Which keeps little ol' Faith all high and mighty.

Interesting....................:)

Hi friends. Flat Sharon here. Back to start on Wednesday, Day 3. The Fantastic Four get ready to leave bright and early at 10:00am for Animal Kingdom. I'm pretty excited as it will be my very first Disney bus ride.

100_0124.jpg

I'm glad they let you sit in the seat. 3D Lynn made me stay in the backpack when I wasn't in pictures so I have no idea what a bus ride looks like.
The bus is empty. Everyday seems that way in January.

They arrive at the park. Vik spots Ballou, her very favorite of all characters. Mike groans. He assumed that Monday's pics would be the only character pics. Oh, is he wrong. Vik immediately gets in line. When she gets up to Ballou, she starts singing Bear Necessities. So Ballou dances with her. She's wearing her Mouse Ears and it's obvious she has found the magic.
If I had gone on the trip when my 3Ders took their neices /cousins I probably would have seen alot of this too. I'm sure it was the happiest they had ever been in their whole life and it made 3D lynn cry tears of happiness.

And then they do the Simba pic. Notice how everyone looks at Baby Simba except for Faith. Oh no, the universe revolves around Faith so she looks front and center.

image098.jpg

I noticed first the look on Mikes face rather than the fact that Pakey wasn't looking at Simba. It's like he's thinking how stupid it is to look at something not even there.:rotfl2:

Mike utters a bad word. It starts with an S. As the ride whips backwards, he says that word a lot.
3D Lynn said a work too...it was SHIRT without the R. Must be a 3d thing!:goodvibes
After lunch, Faith is ready to use that fastpass. Mike and Mo are not interested so Faith and Vik ride alone and enjoy it even more. Then they head over to Dinoland to ride Dinosaur. They aren't aware I'm sneaking along but I almost get eaten by a creature here:

100_0152.jpg

It is a close call. And Mike finally finds a ride he likes.

I'm glad you didn't get eaten! Sometimes it seems like they just use us for their twisted amusement and forget to take care of us!After taking the pic, she starts whining again because she realizes she had her jacket tied around her waist and it will not look good. People, she's over 50 and she is standing next to a fake cartoon cricket. Do you think anyone's going to notice the jacket? Does anyone even want to see a picture of Faith with the cricket? I don't know.
990103765_110.jpg

Of course she has to show off that smoking hot waist!
But it gets scarier. Mo decides that if they are going to do these pics, he's getting one too.

990201571_113.jpg

Don't you agree that his smile looks a little demented? And you have to know that poor Pocohontas was trembling in her moccasins. How many gray haired men get in line by themselves to take pictures with her? I do believe there are stalking laws in place.
3D Lynn's man has his picture with Betty Boop at that other place in Orlando and his smile is very similar! I almost died. Stay tuned to find out what happens to me.I'm glad you made it home safe! I have a very wiggly neck now because of Splash Mountian and I am not even laminated!

Can't wait for more!

Can't wait for more!

Hi Lynn. Glad you had time between workouts to stop by. Stick around for the day they get to Epcot and make total idiots out of themselves. The pictures are so awful that I'm afraid Faith may fire me if I post them.

:car: I can't believe what happened in Fontana!!

And I can't wait to see those Epcot pictures!:goodvibes

Isn't Fontana one of those F words you are not supposed to use? I feel like that anyway.

And I'm going to have to mentally prepare everyone before I post those Epcot pictures. Seriously, I'm not sure I have the courage to share them with anyone. Faith doesn't embarrass easily but these pics did the trick.

OOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHH....I can not wait! Post them!!! ::yes::

oh NOW you HAVE to post a few. Our curiosity has been aroused. :surfweb:

Come on Sharon, we promise not to tell Faith that you posted embarrassing pictures of her.;)

Well before I can get to the embarrassing Epcot day, I have to finish the dull story of the Animal Kingdom day.

I left off in the last installment with the group heading over to the DAWA bar.

100_0193.jpg

I think DAWA stands for Does Anyone Want Another because those punch drinks were hot-diggity-dog good.

100_0189.jpg

Mike and Vik just want to sit down for awhile since their non-croc feet are killing them. Faith is excited because the parade is starting and this is one of her favorite parades. She has a front row spot as she stands with camera in one hand and punch in the other hand.

100_0182.jpg

I've got a great spot right there in the lanyard too:

100_0186.jpg

This parade got kind of crowded since this is an evening Extra Money Hour at this park. When the parade finishes, Faith rejoins her group at the Do You Want Another Drink table. They are enjoying good weather and good company.

Helloooo... . ... . ... While Faith is standing watching that parade with both hands occupied, I fall out of the lanyard. Land face down right by the parade ropes. Of course Faith is in her own little world and does not notice me. I'm being trampled by the Jun Horde (this is a reference to a very cheezy B movie called Beast Master) when the parade ends and she doesn't even notice. I'm sure I will not survive.

Lucky for me, Vik notices that Faith's lanyard is empty. Faith goes into a panic and makes all 4 crawl around trying to find the missing link (me). It's nice to know I'm more important than a glove. :lovestruc Anyway, after a bit of searching, I am rescued. I'm trampled and dirty but thank goodness I'm laminated and will survive.

After this little bru-ha-ha, the group decides that a nice relaxing Safari ride will be a perfect way to end this park day. The standby line is 20 minutes now, the worst of the trip. Mike really wants to do this safari so they decide that they'll wait. Faith and Mo are used to waiting in lines and think nothing of it but Vik and Mike do not like it, especially with people crowding. Welcome to Disneyworld first-timers.

We finally get to the front.

100_0175.jpg

I didn't get in any pics while on the ride though because we are too busy trying to find a little elephant. Wow that is exciting. Poor Little Red, kidnapped by poachers. I know exactly how that little fella felt. I had just went through my big scare too. Well, it's a happy ending for Little Red too.

After this ride, Mike says his feet can take no more. They wander back towards the exit and we wait for a bus to Animal Kingdom Lodge.

I don't trust Faith to get us on the right bus so I check out the schedule:

100_0196.jpg

Yes, we are at the right stop.

100_0200.jpg

I gotta say that even though I get to stand next to a kinda cute guy here, that bus line waiting is no fun. Seriously, I think you Disney freaks should start a petition for recliners to be installed while you wait. I'm not sure I could do this standing in line thing on every vacation.

We have a short bus ride this time and we get to the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Wow. Is this place pretty. Faith shows Vik and Mike where they saw Steven Tyler one night when their son Neil got his picture with him. Vik and Mike listen to country music so they have no idea who Faith is talking about. They are too tired to care so they just pretend they know so that Faith will stop talking and get them to the restaurant.

They are having dinner at BOMA. The sign says that it stands for Flavors of Africa or something like that but I'm here to tell you, that I know what BOMA stands for and I'll tell you in a minute.

We get herded to our table and drink orders are taken. It's early so the place isn't too busy yet. It's very pretty in there. Now I'm not sure but I think Faith is snorting and whinnying like a horse and her foot is pawing the ground under the table while those drink orders were being handled. As soon as the waiter moves 2 inches from that table, Faith shoots out of her chair like a rocket. She has a full plate, is also balancing a full bowl of soup and is heading back to the table before the other 3 have left that first meat station. So now I know that BOMA stands for Buffet OMG, Move Away. This woman practically straps on a feedbag. She claims to be a PEEP but that's not what I see.

Here is her first plate:

100_0203.jpg

The drinks arrive at about the time the rest of the group return to the table. Faith is a little calmer now as she's shoveled in a good portion of her first plate already. So she smiles for the birdie:

100_0208.jpg

But she is not interested in that drink because she's still got some cocunut chicken curry soup or something like that. So while's she's got her face down in her plate like Ralphie's brother Randy in A Christmas Story, I decide to wash that Animal Kingdom trampling dust off of me.

100_0205-1.jpg

After Faith finishes 2 plates plus that bowl of soup, she gets some dessert. She has slowed down a bit now so there was time for me to jump out and have me a little zebra dome.

100_0212.jpg

After dinner, they have to wait because the waiter has lost Mo's credit card. Bit of a scare here. He finally comes back with it and says he got lucky because he had dropped it on the floor in the restaurant and someone had picked it up and turned it in. As a customer service type of person, is this really something you should admit to your customers? Well, I don't know. Mo takes it in stride like he does everything else but Faith was a little put off by this.

We head off back to the bus stop. Wow is that a long walk. I think we cross 3 state lines just getting back to the bus stop. Faith tells everyone that she had made the ADR early so that they would have time to do some shopping at Downtown before going back to the condo but Mike and Vik say they are too tired. So at Downtown, they catch a bus back to the Beach Club and Faith and Mo decide to shop.

While Faith and Mo are looking around for things to buy for Grandson Clayton, I got to do my own character meets.

100_0223.jpg

100_0222.jpg

And I didn't have any lines either. Here it is, my first trip, and I get to meet Jiminy. Faith had to go many times to find him. She just doesn't know where to look.

After a few hours of looking at toys, they are pretty tired and head back to the Condo. Next up is Epcot. Will Vik and Mike like Soarin? And what are those girls up to?

yum....boma...:lovestruc

ok, we have missed that parade every time.....maybe in december....

Awww...Sharon, your character meet pic's are so cute! I am so glad that Faith stopped long enough for you to meet them.

Wow...sure glad Faith brought Mike and Vik to WDW during a slow season, they didn't like a 20 minute wait? During spring break, that's nothing!

Thanks for the update...you have me excited to hear about Epcot!!
