The Star Tours line today! OMG!

What is TSM? All I can think of is Toy Story but that is TSMM, and Space Mountian is just SM. Sometimes I forget my abbreviations. Don't even ask me what Mermaid is... AUAUAM... AMUAMA....:lmao:
At WDW they call it "Toy Story Mania" TSM. At DLR it is of course "Toy Story Midway Mania". Same thing.

We were in Florida the other week when ST opened and on opening day the line was never more then 120 minutes and fast pass machines were up and running. It was 95 degrees that day so standing in a long line in the sun was brutal.

They had all 6 simultators running, lined seemed to be moving pretty steady.

We loved it and went 4 times in two days using fastpass and EE.

Can't wait to try the one at DL when we go this summer.

At DL there's only 4 simulators that I'm aware of. Of course, that can't be the entire reason for 6+ hour waits :lmao: But it's a start to understanding??

Yes, that's one of the less talked about facts regarding Star Tours. The WDW/DHS version has 6 simulators while there are only 4 Starspeeders in DL. The Florida version should be able to get far more guests through the ride on a daily basis.

Mouseplanet sent a tweet around 3pm that Star Tours wait time was down to 85 minutes and The Little Mermaid was at 75 minutes. Those wait times seem pretty reasonable for an opening day. I guess if you could wait out the madness in the morning, it was better to try later in the day.

(editing to add reported times from mobile apps)
I just checked two of more popular apps for wait times.

DLR Lines (from Touring Plans)
Star Tours: 115 minutes
The Little Mermaid: 60 minutes

Mousewait
Star Tours: 100 minutes
The Little Mermaid: 60 minutes

And it would have been a Star Wars Weekend so tons of diehard Star Wars fans...

I feel bad for all the poor souls who booked vacations for this weekend before the opening dates for star tours and little mermaid were announced...

The park was a mess today.... This would have ruined my Vacation!

Lets hope it calms down in the next few weeks? Or am I just dreaming. lol Oh well, just gotta make the best of it I guess. At least your still at Disneyland.

I arrived at the park around 2:30PM and immediately went over to DCA to get in line for Ariels Undersea adventure. After about an hour waiting to get on that ride, which was disappointing by the way I made my way over to DL. I got in line at 4:00PM on the nose and I waited just under two hours to enjoy the Star Tours experience. I was not disappointed at all and the two hour wait was worth it. I don't think I would have gotten in line if it was a 3 or more hour wait. I can't wait until fast pass is available so I can enjoy this ride again.

See my post in this thread to set the record straight on Star Tours opening day:

Honestly, I thought the crowds were better today than the four or so random Sundays I've been to Disneyland over the last few months. I thought Star Tours really sucked up the crowds, at least in Tomorrowland. From a bit before noon (after my five-year-old got selected at the Jedi Training Academy), we practically walked on to Buzz Lightyear, Astro Orbiters, Autopia, Monorail and Captain EO and even had lunch before getting back in line for Star Tours just after 2 pm.

So much of enjoying Disneyland is timing and knowing when to visit certain attractions at the right time. Perhaps the folks complaining about crowds today haven't figured out the nuances at the Happiest Place on Earth.

5 hrs!! Now I am even more nervous for the Little Mermaid ride! Hopefully that won't draw as much of a crowd. I already got to ride ST twice during the preview day a few weeks ago, so if i must skip it during my next trip I won't be too heartbroken. But skipping Ariel is out of the question for me!

Does anyone have an idea as to what the longest wait has been for the ride so far? I was hearing rumors of 8 hours, but I'm finding that hard to believe.

My friends and I visited the park on May 21 and were lucky enough to find that they were doing test rides. A few complained about the 40-minute wait, but that seems like hardly anything now!

Yep, those rumors are dead wrong. In real time, the wait was likely never more than 3+ hours, despite what was being quoted by cast members (or guests really good at spreading rumors in the line). While I guess it's mathematically possible, I find it really unlikely the line was ever five hours when at 2 pm the line took less than 80 minutes. If the simulators can go through about 1,000 guests per hour, that means only about 1,300 people got in the Star Tours line from 11 am through 2 pm if the wait was indeed five hours. Not likely, especially since a big chunk of the people in line around me were getting right back in line again after riding the first time.

Besides, my experience shows cast members were overestimating wait times anyways when at 2 pm they were quoting 110 minutes. In real time, I was on in 30 minutes less than that. And the only reason there was a real long wait first thing in the morning was that virtually everyone entering in the park was going to ride Star Tours right then no matter what and Disney didn't open it until an hour and a half after rope drop. Going forward, those conditions won't happen again (at that level). The ride moves guests through very quickly compared to most other popular Disneyland attractions. Particularly with Fastpass coming online now, I doubt it will ever have much of a wait past two hours going forward.

Really? Anybody complaining about waiting 40 minutes for an attraction has no business visiting Disneyland on a Saturday.

Well said and ITA :thumbsup2

I just checked Mouse Wait (an obsession when I am home, 7 hours away from the magic) and ST is showing an 85 minute wait and LM only 6 minutes!!! Even TSMM is showing 30 minutes. Oh, how I wish I were there right now.
