Was it my imagination or did they say " Aunt Jackies busy taking pole dancing lessons?"

Please tell me I misheard it.....

They said it. I saw it yesterday afternoon. Luckily it went over my DD's head.

Not the greatest, but my DD loved the Chipettes.

yup...
there is a reason it is rated what it is rated.

Even though it looks cute, there were a lot of things in the movie that were meant for teenagers/adults.

Personally, My friend and I (both 20) thought it was funny and my cousin (shes 11) really liked it....but she didnt understand some of the jokes which is fine with us.

It's rated PG not PG13. I just saw it last night with my DDs, and that pole dancing comment is the only thing that a parent might find iffy. My DDs didn't even notice it. It is a very cute movie and absolutely fine for your children. My kids loved it, and it's one of the few kids movies that I didn't fall asleep during.

It was cute , but the 1st one is much better.
As for comments, lots of movies have these now. Most of the Shreks did, and the madagascar movies too. (not sure what they were all rated). It's usually in a way that kids don't understand.

What's wrong with a reference to pole dancing? There's no way young kids could have any concept of what pole dancing is really like unless they've been exposed to it, and mine certainly haven't. I would imagine the term "pole dancing" would conjure up very innocent images of people dancing with poles in their hands, or people dancing around a pole, but the actual movements and the dress (or lack of) of real pole dancers would never occur to them, having never seen or heard of "real" pole dancing before.

So many of these questionable things that are put into family movies are put there so that the parents can enjoy the movies along with their kids - those things go straight over young children's heads! We only understand them because we are adults and have the knowledge and experience to relate to them. And actually, unless a pre-teen or teen has already been exposed in some way to these things that are mentioned (e.g. pole dancing), those references will go straight over their heads as well, or at least will create a different mental picture than we adults will get.

All of the kids loved it that we went with. I think alot of the stuff goes over their heads. We went with 6 kids ranging from 4-9 and looking down the aisle at the kids they all had smiles on their faces the whole time. My friend and I did think the Chippettes were a little "sexy" but they are supposed to be in high school. LOL

We all liked it, entertaining, cute, funny. It's worth seeing at the theatre if you are bored over Christmas break, but it would also be a good one to rent in the future.

:thumbsup2 Was going to type out a similar post but you said it better ;)

Exactly!

ps~ U2 does rock! :music: We're seeing them in NYC this summer.

I saw the movie yesterday. didn't have a problem with it at all. cute kid friendly movie for my DD10.

what I am surprised that nobody here had a problem with is... at the end of the movie. all 6 chipmunks, "teenaged" boy and girl chipmunks were sleeping in the same room together.

I thought they were going to live with Dave and be like brothers and sisters. Man, am I naive or what?

I didn't hear the pole dancing comment, but I know what everyone means about adult comments in kids movies. I think it's totally un-necessary and I like kids movies that are for kids, like The Princess and the Frog!

Thing that gets me is they don't need the comments.... Shrek was much worse - a friend pointed out to me - watch the scene where Farquad is in bed looking at the princess pictures - you won't see Shrek the same innocent way again!

*giggles*

I know that scene.

It's kind of funny , because when Shrek came out I was about 6 or 7, and everything went right over my head.

Watching them again as a teen makes them at least three times as funny :rotfl:

I also thought it was weird that all the chippies were in the same bedroom. I thought there should be a girl's room and a boy's room - not one big co-ed sleepover! Afterall, they're supposed to be high school-aged!
