The next morning we had an early date with Hollywood Studios! We intentionally skipped HS on our last trip, and I was excited to see Launch Bay and the park for the firs time since I was 11. The baby really likes Star Wars even though he has only seen snippets of it when we had a viewing marathon one weekend. He calls Darth Vader "VaVa" whenever he sees him on tv and sings the imperial march song. We had a great meeting with Chewy and enjoyed a few other attractions. We met Kylo Ren and the baby had a darth Vader sweater on. Well Kylo Ren immediately picked up on that and pointed at his chest and said "the spark is strong with this one." Hence the title of this dining report. The pictures from this are hilarious because you can tell the baby really wants to interact with him, but he's a little scared of him at the same time. I don't blame him at all the way he moves so methodically is a little scary!
BUT, I know y'all are just here for the food though so lets get to it!!That morning we ate a pepper market. Nothing new to report since we had the exact same entrees as our first visit. We ordered the baby a fruit cup as a snack credit and let him eat bacon and hash browns off my plate which was plenty for him. We got to HS pre-rope drop and stayed a few hours. By
11:30 we were ready to hit another park. I originally had an Epcot meal scheduled for this day at San Angel. But, when we got to WDW on Monday DH decided that he didn't want to eat Nine Dragons on Tuesday right after dinner at Morimoto. So we cancelled nine dragons and moved San Angel up to
Tuesday lunch. This was a smart move (but don't tell DH I said so

. We decided to hit the Magic Kingdom for a few hours so I pulled up the
MDE app to see what was available. I was looking for Tony's or the Plaza. We hadn't tried either. I know neither one gets stellar reviews, but we wanted to do a sit down meal. Well, I was pleasingly surprised to see a reservation
at 1:20 for Skipper Canteen. This was a place I really wanted to try and somehow in all the hustle I completely forgot they were taking same day reservations. We switched around our fast passes and rode Jungle Cruise right before our meal. We arrived a little before
1:20 and were seated within five minutes. The restaurant is beautiful especially the bathrooms! I had been eyeing the menu since it opened, but I made a game time decision that was ultimately my demise. I ordered the hot and sour soup and the head on shrimp. DH had the Baladi salad and the char siu pork. The hot and sour soup had a good amount of spice to it which I really liked. However, again someone with a spice sensitivity should steer clear of this dish. The soup had ALOT of tofu in it. I'm not the biggest fan of tofu, but I know it is served in hot and sour soup so I was put off by it. I just ate around it. This was a nice size portion and the soup had a nice rich flavor. The shrimp was a little of a disappointment. I really should stick to my guns about not ordering seafood when we travel, but I didn't want something super heavy so I thought this was a good option. The shrimp were a good size. The body was peeled, but the head was left on. There were only five shrimp on the place which is a small entree in my opinion. I had the white rice which was unflavorful and the Chinese broccoli. My biggest complaint about the dish is I think the shrimp were marinated a little too long. They had a little bit of a mushy texture. I know when i make kaboobs I barely let the shrimp marinate to prevent this.. I would not recommend this dish.DH really liked his salad. He said the dressing was tart. But, he liked it so much that our waitress brought him some more on the side. Oh BTW our waitress was fabulous. Our appetizers took a loonnggg time to come out, but she was aware of the situation and it was clear that it was a kitchen issue. I don't remember her being "in character." But, honestly I didn't mind one bit. I didn't go in expecting a show. The CM who walked us to our table was very much in character to the point that it was a little excessive for me.DH really liked the pork. I tasted a bite, and it did have a good flavor. We ordered the baby the kids mac n cheese without the meat. He didn't touch it, but I chalk this up to him being almost two and not because it wasn't good. I ate almost all of it. Who can resist straight bechamel sauce! I would like to try it with the meat though. To me it tasted like pasta alfredo so I think some parents with non-reading children could totally sneak this by them as pasta alfredo

I know I mentioned on another post that SC was very accommodating with kids, and this really seemed to be the case. Our waitress had the manager come out to see if we could swap a dessert for a side for the baby. However, they did not have fries which is what I was going to order him. The manager explained that most kids really liked the mac n cheese without the meat so we went with that. I also saw a little girl next to us with chicken nuggets and french fries. I don't know if she had an allergy issue, but it looked like maybe they were offering this as well for picky eater. Now on to the absolute best part of this meal... dessert!!! I would come back to SC just for this dessert. We had the kungaloosh which is chocolate cake with a caramelized banana, caramel ice cream and coffee dust. I did not get a strong coffee flavor from this dish which i liked. The ice cream was phenomenal. I could have eaten a bowl of that stuff. The caramelized banana was perfectly done, and I didn't let DH try any of it oops!! The chocolate cake was nice and moist with a very good flavor. This was by far the best dessert we had on our entire trip. All in all, I liked the atmosphere of SC. It was nice to have a laid back meal in the MK. Service was slow though so it ate up about an hour and a half of our day. I loved my soup and dessert. I would definitely try a different entree and steer clear of the shrimp. I think we will give this place another shot on our next trip at least just for that dessert!
