just back. wrote another thread with all our sit down meals. wanted to add something about the fast food places (not too many of them we ate) and our snacks! ate way too much ice cream and junk food. but that is a good vacation!

-Dole WHips: I've heard about this for years on these boards. So hubby and I set out to find this delicious treat. Granted, I had not a clue as to what it was, but heard so many people rave about them and talk about how they crave them when they are not at wdw. OK, did i miss somethign???? it is just frozen yogurt, right? I had the pineapple and hubby had the chocolate. The pineapple was good and different, but what makes these things so special other than being at wdw???? Please let me know what we are missing, because we tracked them down, ate them and didn't get it!

-Beaver Tails: OK. 4 of us started out at the land and headed towards Canada to track down these much lauded treats. We finally found them and I must say, without these boards, probably could've gone to Epcot 1mn times and never tried one. HOwever, we had the maple and chocolate and we liked them a lot. Good choice.

-Turkey Leg in Front of AMerica: One of our party made it his enitre vacation mission to finally have a giant turkey leg in front of America and he was not disappointed!

-Wine in France: That was fun--to sip wine during Illuminations. Totally enjoyed that. Except, they should take room charges :(

-Beaches and Cream: Had a Milky Way sundae. The place is over-rated, but the ice cream was good. Ate it outside and lots of people came over to remark that they wanted some. It was cute!

Other things of possible interest:
-had lunch one day at the taco place in MK. it was fine.
-had lunch at pizzafari one day in AK. i like it despite hearing others complain about it. it's not real pizza, but doesn't taste much different to me than domino's, pizza hut or papa john's.
-had lunch one day at restaurantasaurus. i got excited and thought i was getting a mcdonald's hamburger. did get mcd's fries though. food was ok.

Finally, didn't really know where to post this, but we went to Jellyrolls one night. HAD a blast! What a fun place! Just wish we weren't so tired and could have lasted longer there!

Thank You for the reviews. I had a Dole Whip here (Toronto) and while it was alright it isn't my favorite Disney snack. Although on a hot day they are yummy :)
I thought it was my national duty ;) to try a Beaver Tail at a local fair. I couldn't eat it. It was sooooo greasy. I prefer Churros or a funnel cake.

Early on in our Disney venturing (and without benefit of these boards since they weren't up yet), we came upon the Dole Whip place. We all (husband, son - 5 or 6 at the time, and daughter 3 or 4 at the time, and I) tried the treat. All I can say is, I agree with you--don't get it?

I've yet to try a Beaver Tail--I'm not much for those greasy fried things like funnel cakes, elephant ears, etc.--still, chocolate & maple sounds good! Maybe I'll get one of the kids to try it and I'll have a taste. ;)

Thanks for the reviews.

We like Dole Whip because you usually can't get pineapple and you're at WDW while you eat it;)

I LOVE the ice cream at Beaches & Cream. Fudge Mud Slide---Yummy!!!

 A number of people mentined these things, but no one said where they found them?

In Adventureland, across from the Swiss Family Treehouse.

Its basically soft serve pineapple yogurt. Very sweet, very pineapple-y. I enjoy them (but I didn't bother this last trip), they are good in the heat if you like pineapple. And soft serve pineapple yogurt isn't something readily available (they have them at the Minnesota State Fair). They are also pretty big and not a bad Disney value.

(Then again, I don't get Krispy Kremes - yeacchh)

. Thanks, I really appreciate the info. I wish we knew this sooner, as we just returned from a 3 day visit;)

glad to know we are not alone on this dole whip thing! the pineapple flavor was good and i guess if it had been hot, it would've been even better!!!! as for the beaver tails, yes, they were very sweet. but you just need a few bites and it is yummy and you are satisfied. i bet a lot of the opinion regarding them involves the toppings! i am just glad to know what dole whips and beaver tails are now!!!

dmen, you said the pizza at Pizzafari is not really pizza. Just curious, what would you compare it to? Is it a flatbread pizza or something? Was thinking of taking the kids there, but they are pretty fussy about their pizza.

actually, i would say it is exactly the kind of pizza kids would like. i would say it doesn't fit the description of new york city pizzeria pizza or even chicago for that matter. it is very similar to pizza hut,, dominos or papa johns which is what comes to mind now for most people, but not to me because i think of ny style! maybe others could help me out here, but i think kids would like pizzafari.

Yum--WDW snacks are the best! :) Thanks for posting a "snack" review! I agree, Dole Whips are really light and refreshing on hot, sunny days. They are also good if you want a nice ice cream treat without all the fat/calories. Not a favorite by everyone I guess.

Welcome home! :)
