The Single Girl's Guide to Doing WDW Solo - A Sept. 2014 Trip Report (COMPLETED)

Love all those pics, especially the Haunted Mansion ones!!! I've never seen those before, so cool.
I know what you mean about Space Mountain, I used to ride it as a kid, no problem. The last time I rode it I thought I was gonna have whip lash and I was terrified, holding on to that little bar for my life, my arms hurt when I got off. Never again.

I love the face painting! It really matched the color of your shirt and looked very much in the spirit of Halloween. :)

I hate when the Phootpass photographers don't tell you that there is something wrong with your pose. It would only take them a minute. :sad2:

I love your update on the Halloween party. We are going to it for the first time ever in just about two weeks and I am on a mission to find out everything that I can. We will be with our five year old grandson, and his parents, too. I want to make sure I see the parade and fireworks and I think they are most concerned with getting on as many rides as possible when the crowds are busy doing something else. Was Fantasyland crowded at the beginning of the party? I love the idea of Splash Mountain and Big Thunder being a walk on after the fireworks.

I love the magic shots. Did you know ahead of time which photographers were doing magic shots?
Thanks! I know I'm one of the few adults that does the face painting, but I just love it! I wish I had done it more during my trip.

You know, that particular PP photographer was just unpleasant. Acted like I had no business being there. It was frustrating. :( I was just surprised and overwhelmed by how many of the photographers acted that way towards me, again I can only assume because I was solo. The next time I experience that sort of thing, I'm going to make notes of the person's name and date, time, and location so I can send a complaint.

I lucked out during my party... Even at 4pm, NOTHING was crowded, not even Fantasyland. The only things that even had more than a 15 minute wait all night were 7DMT and A&E.

Nope, the Magic Shots were random! I asked some photographers (the nicer ones) if they had magic shots when I approached them, though!

MNSSHP looks like a great time! I can't wait to go next year!
You'll have so much fun!! I loved it! :goodvibes

Okay, so it's NOT just me! That makes me feel better! :lmao:

DAY 3
Sept. 22nd, 2014 - Monday

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter

So after getting to bed so late, it wasn't very pretty when my alarm went off.

ZbRm6FXPmUgWQ.gif

But somehow I managed, rolling out of bed and proceeding with getting ready. It was definitely a morning that I was happy I brought the bottled Starbucks, and danishes and such so I could sleep later and just eat breakfast while getting dressed for the day. (The coffee especially helped!)

Finally I made my way out to the parking lot and into my sweet ride. That's right, ya'll. We're driving again today in Orlando traffic!

dRsv3UDF4KZ6E.gif

Honestly, though. While it wasn't fun, it wasn't nearly as horrible as I was expecting after the nightmare on Saturday. I made with far less near-death experiences (thankfully).

Managed to get myself into the Universal parking garage, and was on my way! I'm glad I had read up on what to expect, since it's one heck of walk to get to the parks entrances. First you go all the way through the parking structure, then the make you walk all the way through CityWalk. It was kinda crazy, but thankfully it was the beginning of the week and my legs were still fresh enough to make it.

So I was starting my day in Universal Studios, to follow the progression of the books. Stopped to do this before entering...

20140922_085110.jpg

Then I was off to find the Will Call kiosks. I have a friend from elsewhere on the interwebz who works in Universal Orlando's marketing department, and was kind enough to assign one of his Team Member comp tickets to me. YAY! I brought the confirmation and everything he sent me, and keyed in all of the required info, and BAM! Out popped my 1-Day Park-to-Park ticket. I was actually surprised at how simple it was!

Made my way into the park, and it was earlier enough that it was still relatively quiet. Unlike Disney, Universal lets you call ahead to reserve ECVs, so I had taken care of that well in advance. Went to the Rentals location to pay for and pick up my ride, and off I went.

Now, in the Disney parks, I never grab a park map. I don't need them after so many trips. So I was about halfway into Universal Studios before it dawned me... I HAD NO IDEA WHERE I WAS GOING. I thought about stopping in a shop and see if they had maps, but suddenly I was struck by a sense of adventure... Or stupidity. "I'm a smart girl! I can figure this out!"

And I did. After going through pretty much the entire theme park to get to the London facade and the entrance to Diagon Alley. Let's call it sightseeing, shall we?

So I rounded the curved and passed through the brick wall... And was absolutely overcome by how AMAZING this place was. It was everything I was hoping and more. I truly felt like I had just stepped into the books, I absolutely loved it. I just wandered for the longest time, even through Knockturn Alley (which was INCREDIBLY cool, especially the Burgin & Burkes shop.

I was getting parches, so I decided it was time for a drink. And what does one drink when in Diagon Alley? Well, butterbeer, of course!

20140922_094814.jpg

20140922_094807.jpg

I've heard people complain about it's sweetness. But I LOVED THIS STUFF. I think I had 4 or 5 before the day was done. I'm a big cream soda person, and a big butterscotch person. And well. For those who haven't had it, Butterbeer is pretty much like drinking a butterscotch cream soda. It was amazing!

But... It gets worse. Oh, so much worse...

So as I'm walking away with my Butterbeer, I see right there in front of me Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlour. Which I knew to have Butterbeer flavored ice cream.

Hmmmm.

Yeah. This happened.

20140922_095527.jpg

That's right. I present to you... The Butterbeer Butterbeer Float. (AKA: The Diabeetus Cocktail.) :lmao:

I'm such a fatty. :thumbsup2

So now that I was all hopped up on a million grams of sugar, I went exploring through the shops again. I also stopped and tried the test seat for the Escape from Gringott's attraction, but alas... Too my belly on this girl for the lapbar to lock. Boooooo! After that disappointment, I didn't even try Forbidden Journey when I got over Island's of Adventure. I wish Universal was as fat-friendly as Disney is, there's nothing I can't ride there.

But as in all things, I didn't let it ruin my day, especially as I knew there was a good chance it would happen. I was happy just exploring and shopping and soaking up the atmosphere!

Oh, and I made sure to check out Olivanders! Holy CRAP, was it cool! I walked down this narrow winding hallway full of wand boxes, leading into a small Chamber where the door closed behind me and a handful of other people. Then an Olivander's employee, "The Wand Keeper" came out, and selected a child from the audience to have "try out" wands until they "found" the one that fit. It was a magnificent performance, and the actor playing the Wand keeper was absolutely incredible (My education is in Theatre and I'm pretty hard to impress.) I was just mesmerized. At the end, I was last person to leave the room, and I leaned in quickly and told him how wonderful he was. He thank me, in character, "Thank you, my dear, you're too kind." Of course, then we were funneled into the retail wand shop. I looked around a bit, but chose not to buy anything.

Noon rolled around and I headed over to the Leaky Cauldron to have lunch with my TM friend, Howard. (Who snuck up on me scared the crap out of me, by the way. LOL.) We had a nice lunch, he likes telling me little secrets and stuff about the park. I got the Toad in a Hole, I wanted something super-British. :p It was good, but not amazing. And I was so busy chatting, I forgot to take a picture. DOH!

We hugged and parted ways. I knew I was ready to hop on the Hogwarts Express, but before I did, I hung out in Diagon Alley long enough to grab these photos...

\

Kinda awesome, right?

I exited Diagon Alley and found my way through London to King's Cross Station. I was seated in a cabin with a family of Scots! Which just made the whole thing feel just that much more authentic, sitting and listening to them chat as I watched what was going on through the window and out in the hall. Very cool, and was happy I got to ride SOMETHING.

Got to Islands of Adventure and disembarked, and headed into the village of Hogsmeade. It's BEAUTIFUL! But it seemed MUCH more crowded to me. Which I found very strange, since Diagon Alley if the brand new section. If you've ever had to drive an ECV, you know that crowds don't mix very well with them. You have to drive very slow and careful because people, adults and children, will walk right in front of you without a thought or care in the world... and those things don't exact stop on a dime. So making my way through the street was tough, and frustrating. I decided some liquid refreshment was in order, and this was my choice this time...

20140922_104606.jpg

It was good, and very refreshing! It kinda tasted more like pumpkin-spiced apple juice. But I still liked it a lot!

Then I just went on down to Hogwarts, which houses Forbidden Journey, because I know from my researching that I could request to just do a Castle tour but not ride, so that I could actually walk through and see the inside. THAT was super cool! There was a whole room in the stairwell with portraits of the four founders discussing Harry and Quidditch and their houses. I loved it!

I took my time meandering through Hogwarts, and stayed until I could feel that I'd been on my feet too long, and headed on out. I looked around in the shops a little bit, but it was mostly stuff I'd seen in Diagon Alley. Not to mention I was starting to run out of steam, my castle exploring pretty much wiped me out. So I declared my Wizarding World Day, but through I'd go just do a lap around Islands of Adventure, much like I had inadvertently done that morning over in Universal Studios.

I got as far as the Jurassic Park land (which is right next door) when it started to sprinkle. No big deal, I can handle a sprinkle. Then I got to the next land, some sort of Toon town, and THE SKIES OPENED UP AND POURED DOWN RAINY WRATH. Oh my word. Myself and a couple of families took shelter under a big umbrella that usually has merchandise from a neighboring retail location but all the items got pulled inside when the rain started. Poncho on, just curled up on my ECV, I actually was dozing while waiting it out, haha. That's how pooped I was!

Eventually it slowed down, maybe after 45 minutes to an hour, and I headed right back to Hogsmeade to catch the Hogwarts Express back to Universal. (My friend had advised me to ride it both ways, since it's a different experience each way.) He was right, it's so cool! And check it out... This time I was in a cabin with a Welsh family! Of all the luck, right?!

I made it into King's Cross, and had to do this, to caption the end of my Wizarding day...

20140922_161009.jpg

Thankfully from that point on, the rain got less and less, and after turning in my ECV and heading out of the park and starting the long hike back to my car (and oh man, it felt SO SO SO much longer that it had that morning), I took the poncho off and felt so much better that in the above photo!

I took a deep breath and left the parking garage, heading back to Pop Century for a rest before dinner. Many prayers were said along the way.

5AwCyy5Ji4wm7BPFoQ0.gif

They worked, because I made it back safely!

I got back to my room and pretty much crashed for the next hour. Haha. I don't remember much after that until my alarm went off to get me up and over to the Polynesian in time for my 7:55pm dinner ADR at Ohana. Which, of course, I was early for. I'm always early for ADRs!

I was super-duper hungry! It wasn't terribly long after I checked-in that I was lead to a table by the windows overlooking the Magic Kingdom. And I knew I'd still be there for Wishes. Pixie dust, yay!

Of course, I had to start with a cocktail...

20140922_204639.jpg

Island Sunrise. Or Island Breeze. Or something. Okay, so I don't remember what my frozen slushie cocktail was called, but it was delicious, okay!

See? DEEEEE-licious!

And I will give you a few food porn photos...

Not too shabby, right? ;)

After a HARROWING drive back to Pop (merging into Magic Kingdom closing traffic is traumatic), I parked my car and kissed it goodbye, since I knew it was (thankfully) the last time I would see it until it was time to come home.

A quick shower and it was bedtime for this girl!

Up Next... Epcot, Day 1!

Loving the report!

How was 'Ohana solo? I've done one solo trip (but am planning another this coming fall), but have only done counter service solo. Thinking of doing a character breakfast on the next solo and 'Ohana seems like a good fit (I want a non-park option)

Your turkey sandwich looks great! Something definitely to try in the future. :)

That's so rude of people to cut you off trying to take photos. It does stink that people treat you differently when you are single and don't have another adult or children with you. I don't know why people do that, but I've experienced that before.

Your photopass pictures are great. :)

The strawberry shortcake looks awesome!

I'm sorry you were disappointed in the Seven Dwarfs photo. :( I don't think it's bad, but I know it's disappointing when you wait so long for a photo and then don't like it.

The Haunted Mansion ones are great!

Yay for the empty Splash ride!!

How cool that you had a comp ticket for Universal Studios!

I've heard a lot about the butterbeer and can't wait to try it.

Despite the rain it sounds like a fun time at the Harry Potter areas/Universal.

The Ohana dinner looks awesome!!

Ohh boy that was a crazy long day!!! But loved everything!
One day we will get to Universal! i can't wait to read more!:thumbsup2

Hehe, I guess I'm just getting used to I-4 traffic. Then again, the run from Disney to Universal generally isn't too bad. Glad you made it in one piece!

Oh yeah, isn't Diagon Alley amazing????? So impressive what some ex-Disney Imagineers can do, lol.

"The Diabeetus Cocktail." :rotfl2:

I have to admit, on Universal day I generally curse myself at the end of the day for not getting priority parking. It seems like such a good idea in the morning to save the money. Not so much at the end, lol.

I learned the hard way back in 2000 about being too stuborn and proud to get a scooter. I threw my illnesses out of remission, became VERY ill during my trip, shortly after returning home was hospitalized for a month, and in recovery for 2 years. NEVER again. :sad2: You put your Mama on that scooter! :thumbsup2

I will, I promise!

Looks like you had an amazing time at MNSSHP!!! I can not wait for my turn! I'm bummed to hear that the PP photographers were weird about you being alone. You deserve pictures too! :confused3 I hope I don't run into too much of that when I'm there. I don't have Memory Maker though, so I won't stop as often. I see lots of selfies in my future!

Hi Billie! I finally made my way over here from the Sept 2014 thread - great trip report so far! I still haven't started mine, but I did gather up all my photos (from Memory Maker, personal camera, and phones) and put them into one folder on my computer - I have almost 600 pictures! :faint: And I still need to go back into PP and add borders, etc. But I'm determined to write some sort of TR this time!

Sorry that some photogs were not pleasant to you. We encountered one during MNSSHP, at the Alice/Mad Hatter meet. He got some fine shots of us, but the attitude we witnessed from him while we were waiting in line was less than magical. The Mad Hatter was very chatty with everyone, and the photog was clearly bored/annoyed. He was the only one though; most were great and patient, and tried to get the best shots they could of my uncooperative kids. :rolleyes1

Subscribing! I can't wait to read more :)

I did two parks "solo" on my Disney vacation this summer. Hollywood Studios and Magic Kingdom. The rest I went with my family. I had a lot of fun by myself and I've been curious as to what it would be like to do a whole vacation to WDW/DL all by myself. You certainly make it look fun! :)

Hi Billie,
Just found your TR and I'm all caught up.
Love the POP pictures, we stayed there this past Christmas and loved it.
I had no idea about the photobooth connected to photopass at SM.
Love the SM picture of just you.
Can't wait to read on in your single girl adventures in Disney.:thumbsup2

DAY 1
Sept. 20th, 2014 - Saturday

Travel/Arrival

After being up until the wee hours of the morning packing and cleaning my apartment, the day was finally here!

One of my two cats, Harley, thought he would help me pack my last-minute items... or try to stop me from leaving, I'm not sure which. But anytime the suitcase comes out... Every.Single.Time.

20140920_045842_1.jpg

And so after almost a year of planning and saving and planning some more... It was time! My stomach was totally in knots from nerves and excitement.

Had my MagicBand, ready to go!

MagicBand3.jpg

I have the fortunate luck of living within driving distance to Walt Disney World. Without any stops or traffic delays, it takes about 5 hours to get from my front door to Mickeys. :smickey:

route.png

That being said, I don't have a great car, it's kind of a piece of junk. But it does it's job of getting me around town, and to work and back. So I love it. However, I don't trust it on a road trip. So for my Disney trips, I get a rental. (Besides, sometimes it's just fun to drive a nicer, newer car than your own!) :cool2:

I had reserved a Compact back in July, spoke to the people at my local Enterprise multiple times, even called a few days before my pick-up date just to reconfirm. I'm there waiting as soon as they open the doors at 9am. Guess what? NO CARS. None. :headache: Apparently none of the cars that were supposed to be returned the evening before ever showed up...

colbert-what.gif

But it's cool! I'm going to Disney World, it's all good! I have a seat and patiently wait, and at about 9:45am they tell me they're getting my vehicle ready. Sweet! And just before 10am, they pull this around for me...

20140920_094747.jpg

And so then I was all...

carlton-dance-gif.gif

It was a Ford Escape. I love small SUVs. As a travel agent, I recognized that this was about a FOUR category upgrade from the Compact I had reserved, plus I knew how much I technically SHOULD be paying for this class of vehicle. I was SUPER stoked, and thrilled that my trip was starting out with such pixie dust!

20140920_095037.jpg

As I drive an older Toyota Corolla, this was a lot more car than I'm used to. I pulled it into the empty Lowe's parking lot next door, adjusted my seat, the steering wheel, my mirrors, and did a couple of laps around the lot to get the feel of it.

Then I was off! A quick swing into Taco Bell (because I at that moment, I needed a celebratory waffle taco in my life), and a stop for gas, and I was ON MY WAY! :drive:

tumblr_ky9sr4d8l71qzvpvu.gif

Everything went swimmingly for the first 2.5 hours or so. And then... Jacksonville. Traffic. Rain. Construction. This is where I first learned that most Florida drivers are total buttholes. I managed to make it through after a few ugly boughts of road rage, but good lord!

About the time I hit Daytona and I-4, I had rumbly in my tumbly. I have a strict policy while on vacation to only eat things I can't get easily at home. So I immediately sought out this delight....

krystals.jpg

I sooooo miss living near one of these! Cheese Krystals are so gooooood! (And make excellent road food!)

Onto I-4! On... to... I-4.... and Orlando...

Traffic... Oh. My. God. :furious:

So, this was pretty much me for the rest of the drive...

aaoG2VSbUdUe4.gif

The traffic and the people were AWFUL! Even once I got off on 192 to get to my Kissimmee hotel for that first night, I thought I was going to have a stroke... or a heart attack... or ball up in the floorboard and cry... it really was that terrifying. :scared:

tumblr_inline_na1w0cklrY1rrosi0.gif

Eventually, though, I did make it to my destination alive and well. I wasn't due to check-in at Pop Century until the following day (Sunday), but I decided to get a headstart on my trip and drive down a day early. I got a great deal on a room through work, here at the Clarion Suites Maingate in Kissimmee.

Clarion_Suites_Maingate_%28008%29.jpg

Check-in was a breeze, and was assigned to Room 114, first floor and just around the corner from the lobby, pool, etc. Got the King bed I requested, too...

20140920_160915.jpg

20140920_161000.jpg

My ONLY complaint about this place was the mattress. Either they don't flip them enough, or it's just old as hell. It had a hump in the middle, and two dips on either side of it. You could physically feel the sinkholes from people sleeping on either side of it over the years. Now back to the theme of this trip report... As a single girl, I'm used to sleeping ALL OVER the bed, quite often in the middle. Rolling in and out of other people's body craters wasn't very comfy! :sad2:

But, like I said, everything thing else was wonderful. The pool area was big and clean and pristine. The breakfast area, while busy, was also clean and plentiful, lots of hot options. Honestly, for anybody in the neighborhood for an affordable pre- or post-night hotel, I would recommend them. Just if you get a crappy mattress like I did, ask for another room! :thumbsup2

Since it was only about 5pm at this point, I wandered on down to the pool area for a couple hours, just to lounge in a chair and do me some people watching.

Here's my happy toes!

20140920_173057.jpg

Finally I carried myself back to the room, polished off the rest of my Krystals (I had ordered a sackful, don't judge me!), showered, and crawled in bed for an early night.

Up Next... Checking in at Pop Century!

First - super jealous of your relatively "short" drive to WDW. I lol at many moments in this post, but I'm also kind of terrified as we are planning to attempt a 14.5 hour drive, oh yes that's right, with a four year old, in April. Um....yikes. But it's Disney right???? I hope?

You're right about that! Tuesday evening was the worst! After that it was just intermittent showers. I still was tired of dragging out my poncho by the end of my trip, though. I usually travel Dec-Feb, so this was my first time during the "rainy season." I was unimpressed. :rotfl:

Oh I'm glad you thought so too about Tuesday! That was the ONE and only time I was a bit cranky about the weather. Probably b/c we had only had Monday and Tuesday and it was most of the day rain both days. After that it was nicer! Or I got used to it!

Also, if it helps, I went to the party with another family and each family did separate pictures with the 7 Dwarfs and they were all crap. Those photographers just were rushing and didn't seem to really know what to do. Most of my experiences with the MM photographers was great, but not this one.

Loving the report!

How was 'Ohana solo? I've done one solo trip (but am planning another this coming fall), but have only done counter service solo. Thinking of doing a character breakfast on the next solo and 'Ohana seems like a good fit (I want a non-park option)
Honestly, I experienced pretty much nothing but awesomeness from all of the CMs at the table service restaurants I went to. There's one exception, on my final park day, at Be Our Guest, but it was minor. I even did two character meals during the course of the week, and even though I was alone, I still was able to get photos with every character. Don't let the fact you're solo discourage you from booking ANY restaurant you want. Go! Eat! Play! Enjoy! :goodvibes

Your turkey sandwich looks great! Something definitely to try in the future. :)

I'm still having dreams about that turkey sandwich. I'm honestly going to likely try to replicate it at home next month using Thanksgiving leftovers!

Yeah, the PP thing blew my mind. It happened all week, and only ONE woman noticed she and her daughter had jumped in front of me and apologized profusely. More disturbing than the guests to me were the PP photographers that were awkward with me. :confused3 But obviously I didn't let it deter me too much. I took a "JUST SHUT UP AND TAKE MY PICTURES, JERKFACE. AND HAVE A MAGICAL FREAKING DAY, TOO." attitude about it all. :bitelip:

God, the strawberry cup cake was so good, but soooo heavy. I think I'm still recovering, over two weeks later! :rotfl:

Yeah, my Universal TM friend surprised me with that one, it was really nice of him. I bought his lunch to say thank you, I figured it was the least I could do!

Ohana is ALWAYS awesome. It's one of my Must-Do ADRs every trip. :thumbsup2

Ohh boy that was a crazy long day!!! But loved everything!
One day we will get to Universal! i can't wait to read more!:thumbsup2
This was my first time at Universal since 1998. It took The Boy Who Lived to lure me away from Mickey Mouse. :lmao:

Hehe, I guess I'm just getting used to I-4 traffic. Then again, the run from Disney to Universal generally isn't too bad. Glad you made it in one piece!

Oh yeah, isn't Diagon Alley amazing????? So impressive what some ex-Disney Imagineers can do, lol.

Screw I-4. Seriously. I have family joining me on next year's trip so I will have somebody else to drive it, but I'm sure down the road I'll find myself driving that wretched freeway again. I'm in no hurry! :lmao:

That Diabeetus Cocktail was the bomb, you HAVE to try it next time! :thumbsup2

Ha. Sad thing is that I actually DID spring for the Priority Parking, and was still wrecked by the time I got back to my car. :rotfl:

I will, I promise!

Stop at the PP photographers anyhow! They will take photos with your own camera! It's what I've done for years! I only sprang for Memory Maker this time because it's such an amazing deal! ::yes:: Admittedly though, now I want to do it every time. :goodvibes

Hi Billie! I finally made my way over here from the Sept 2014 thread - great trip report so far! Welcome, Ava! :wave2: So glad to see you here! Send me a PM when you start your reports, I'm dying to read them!

Blah. I know not every CM can have a magical day every day. I've worked in customer service for nearly 20 years, and even I have my days when I can tell I'm struggling to be my happy friendly smiling self. It happens. It just seemed to happen a LOT on this trip with the photographers. The ones that were awesome were VERY awesome though, so that made up a little for the grumpy ones. :cutie:

Subscribing! I can't wait to read more :)

I did two parks "solo" on my Disney vacation this summer. Hollywood Studios and Magic Kingdom. The rest I went with my family. I had a lot of fun by myself and I've been curious as to what it would be like to do a whole vacation to WDW/DL all by myself. You certainly make it look fun! :)
Honestly, it might have been my best trip ever. I was raised an only child, and I live alone now as an adult (along with two spoiled rotten cats). I'm very independent and am used to doing what I want, when I want, without having to think about or consult with anybody else. It was freeing in a way to FINALLY be able to do that at my most favorite place on earth! :cloud9:

Hi Billie,
Just found your TR and I'm all caught up.
Love the POP pictures, we stayed there this past Christmas and loved it.
I had no idea about the photobooth connected to photopass at SM.
Love the SM picture of just you.
Can't wait to read on in your single girl adventures in Disney. :thumbsup2
Hi there! :wave2: Thanks so much for joining in and commenting, too!

I thought the photobooth at Space Mountain was pretty sweet! I got in it, got it all set up, and just as the camera was focusing, I was like "OH CRAP, WHAT DO I DO NOW." :rotfl2: So I just started being silly!

First - super jealous of your relatively "short" drive to WDW. I lol at many moments in this post, but I'm also kind of terrified as we are planning to attempt a 14.5 hour drive, oh yes that's right, with a four year old, in April. Um....yikes. But it's Disney right???? I hope?

Oh I'm glad you thought so too about Tuesday! That was the ONE and only time I was a bit cranky about the weather. Probably b/c we had only had Monday and Tuesday and it was most of the day rain both days. After that it was nicer! Or I got used to it!

Also, if it helps, I went to the party with another family and each family did separate pictures with the 7 Dwarfs and they were all crap. Those photographers just were rushing and didn't seem to really know what to do. Most of my experiences with the MM photographers was great, but not this one.
Dope the kid up on Benedryl and drive through the night. That's what other parents have told me they do. :rotfl2:

Aww! I'm sorry to hear your 7 Dwarfs photographer was rotten, too! I wonder if it was the same one? :rotfl: I understand they've got a long line and lots of people to get through, but that's no excuse for rotten customer service and bad photos. I expect that kind of attitude at Walmart, not at Walt Disney World! :headache:

Billie, it sounds like a fun, but very long day. I love that you napped during the rain.

I've never read or seen a Harry Potter film so don't know much about what you are talking about, but you seemed to enjoy it and that is what is important.

What a great table at Ohana. I would like one of those drinks you had there right now.

Whew! Okay, I'm all caught up. I am loving your solo trip so far. I have been thinking of doing one soon and am excited to see what your experience was like. Isn't POP! wonderful? My family stayed there on our first trip together and we loved every minute of it.

Oh and I applaud your A+ Gif usage! That in combination with your writing style has me hooked!

I am a big Harry Potter fan and need to go to Universal some day just so I can see all the HP stuff. That pumpkin juice bottle is amazing.

I would have to take the tour of Forbidden Journey rather than the ride because I get motion sick easily. :( The tour looks very interesting. :)

BUTTERBEER!!! The single greatest thing about Universal, love the frozen version the most!! Glad to see others enjoying it as well. :goodvibes

I'm a big old Potter nerd. The order of things I love go:

1. Disney.
2. Harry Potter.
3. Books.
4. U2.
5. Bacon.

:lmao:

My first solo trip was AWESOME! I can't wait to do it again! I have family joining me next year, but I'm shooting for another solo trip in October 2017! :thumbsup2

The pumpkin juice is a little more expensive than getting a Butterbeer, I can only assume because of the bottle. And the pumpkin on top isn't the bottlecap, it just fits over the actual cap. So you end up with a cute little souvenir!

Mine lives on one of my bookcases with other nick-knacks and bric-a-brac. :goodvibes

As for the Castle Tour, it's self-guided. :cutie: Basically it's separate queue that runs parallel to the ride's queue line for the most part, but is mostly empty, since it's just for people who just want to see inside Hogwarts without riding, that way you don't have to stand in the queue for hours. :thumbsup2

I never did try the frozen version! I was too happy with my regular old soda-like refreshment. :rotfl:
