I can't wait for the release! I love the Sims. The sequel will blow it away. All that 3-D and camera mode, DNA, families, etc. The funniest thing I've read is that male Sims that are abducted by aliens can come back pregnant.....LOL!

I am a SIMS addict! DD is too . . .although if she gets two people together and they have a child, if that child turns out to be an "ugly" child DD tends to send them off to military school and in worse case scenerios she'll drown them or have them catch fire.


For instance, one of her married couples are both blondes, yet, when they had a child it was dark hair/dark eyes . . .very strange. Hopefully SIMS 2 will have better matching.

I know it'll be on DD xmas list.

Actually, with DNA, the kids will look like their parents. It won't be like the first one, where a random head was chosen.

Also, in this game, children can be put up for adoption......according to chat transcripts with the game designers.

There's going to be a royal rumble in our house over the computer now...DH with his Call of Duty and me with Sims 2.

Release date is September 17th. You can get the CD-ROM edition or the DVD-ROM edition on one disc. Both cost the same.

I pre-ordered, but I'm stuck at home and can't drive. I'm sure stores will have it in stock, but I wouldn't dawdle much. There's a lot of anticipation for this game.

I'd read that the DVD-ROM edition would exclusively be available on preorder. I'm not sure if that will always be the case. The DVD edition comes with extras like Bloopers, Film Making 101 and other stuff. I ordered from EB Games and they sent me a Promo CD-ROM about the game. It turned out to be the same one that was included with the Makin' Magic EP for TS1. So now I have two copies.

If you want to go ahead and make some Sims, you can download the Sims 2 Body Shop for free. You can choose hair color, hair style, eye color, mix and match clothes, adjust any facial feature, skin tone, etc. It's possible to make a Sim of yourself, but I haven't tried that. In the Showcase, you can browse and download Sims from other users. It can also be used to make custom clothes. All I've tried making are eye colors, pink lipstick, undies and some formal wear. Other talented folks have made some really neat stuff though.

Have you made any clothes or accessories? Any interesting Sims? I've been tinkering with a Sim Dan. More accessories, clothes and hair styles should be shupping with the final game. I need a few things for finishing touches.

That can happen in this game. A Sim Mom can have a baby that looks like the nieghbor. If the husband doesn't catch on, another Sim may tell him. The new Sims are supposed to be aware and love to gossip. If a gossipy Sim catches another Sim cheating on its spouse, they'll run and tell the spouse. Then a big fight might break out.

I was glad to learn that they would know who their relatives are, so there won't be any incest. That bugged me about the first game. Brothers and sisters would flirt. EW!

I LOVE this game...I'm so excited for Sims 2. My only thing is...I spent all of my money on multiple expansion packs(vacation, unleashed, superstar) to now buy this one where they arn't the same??? I guess I'm a little worried about spending more money on this, when the others won't work with it. Is Sims 2 not the same, so if you buy this, and load it onto your computer, you can play this, or take a break and play the original?? I guess I'm confused about the whole thing.


And I can't wait to try that body shop...looks fun

They are completely different. And there will be expansion packs for this one, too.

They finished updating the minimum system requirements for the game.

I'm so jealous of all of you! They never make the good games for mac. Though on one of the chats one guy said they would be coming out with a mac version soon. I hope so!!

The Mac version should be out next year.
