the schrodinger's cat trip

Oh goodness, you poor luv. I hope you are getting some real answers and some seriously good pain relief right about now.

And I think it is wonderful that you are going to keep saving and putting good vibes out to the universe to get your trip. Look how well it worked for aussiestravellers:). I use The Secret for all of my trips too.

Feel better sweet, hugs

Alicia - I hope you are okay and getting the care and attention you need.

I love The Secret. Haven't watched it in a couple of years actually, must watch it again to instill those thoughts into my head again.

Alicia, been thinking about you today. Hope you are doing ok :goodvibes

You know how we've just made the big lifestyle change not to build the Barbie Dream House on the hill and spend more time travelling, enjoying life???? In my mind that was all The Secret. I had decided a few months prior that I wasn't comfortable with the direction it was all heading so I started rereading The Secret, putting out the energy I wanted and began planning our life without "the building of the house" in it. I started planning trips and just generally moving forward with our lives in the outcome that I wanted. All without telling really discussing this with anyone. Then a month or so later, my husband is acting like it's all his idea not to go forward and we have 2 trips in the planning and I couldn't be happier :lmao::lmao:. Even if it's just a coincidence (which I don't think it is), it works for me to feel like I have some control over what's coming up. Keeps me on my "cup is half full journey" as much as possible.

hey all, thanks for your good thoughts and wishes -- it means a huge deal!!! :grouphug:

i am back from my soujourn to the hospital now. first thing i do when i get home after freshening up -- boot up the comp and check out the DIS :)

so i went up tuesday morning around 7.30 (got stuck in rush hour traffic congestion as the ambulance guys didn't heed my advice about not taking certain streets, and as i wasn't an emergency, didn't get to run the lights to move through it) and was admitted around 8. turns out my gall bladder, that fun and capricious little organ, has become inflamed and infected.

from dieting.

yup. the diet i went on after coming back from our trip caused my weight to drop significantly enough that it triggered my gall bladder issues. oh joy. then the pain that was a result of the gall bladder issues caused stomach upset which meant i lost more weight (yay me) from not eating, being sick etc, which then got the gall bladder all inflamed and infected and generally unhappy with life.

did they remove it, i hear you ask. no. no they did not.

turns out they (or at this hospital only, who knows??) like to leave you with a functioning gall bladder, or semi-functioning gall bladder in my case at least, for as long as possible. major surgery is to be avoided wherever possible to preserve way of life etc. instead they kept me for 2 nights and the better part of 3 days, hooked up to major, major butt kicking antibiotics to try and flush out the infection. this should cause it to return to normal size and go on functioning like normal.

so. low fat meals for the next few months (not hard as that was already part of my diet) and 5 boxes of antibiotics to work my way through, and a promise that if the pain returns (and they mean, like omg kill me now pain) that comes on really quickly, i must return to them and they will consider removing it. consider it. consider it? oh for the days of quack surgeons who just ripped that sucker out!!

so. i'm left with a semi functioning gall bladder, a damaged hand/arm where the super mega pain killers & antibiotics compromised my veins and i look like my arm has been in a vice for the last few days, very little dignity or sense of pride -- but a quasi success in (fingers crossed) getting my gall bladder back to where it should be.

so. yay. that was totally worth it. or. you know. not really. cause i hate hospitals and they way they treat you. but i feel better. and i've been pain free for the better part of a day now and i tell you that feels grand!!!

so onwards with the trip planning, and the adjusting of the figures to suit our revised budgets :)

Good to 'see' you in here again Alicia :) I'm so very glad you are feeling better. Do they think that with the super antibiotics all your pain should go away when the infection's gone?

:hug:glad you have some answers even if they are leaving your gall bladder there. I hope these antibiotics do the trick but remember it doesn't hurt to get a second opinion:hug:

Fingers crossed it's an accurate diagnosis and all settles down :)

Gall bladders do settle down, and they are best to leave in place, so sounds like they are doing the right thing, just a shame it took them so long to figure out what the problem was.

Here's to a speedy recovery!

yup, the pain is directly related to the inflammation and infection. so if the infection and inflammation goes away, so too should the pain. the idea of a second opinion is great... but right now i'm so over the medical profession and hospitals in general that the idea of voluntarily seeking one out.. ugh!

on a side note, i came home, checked in here then went to sleep to catch up on some much needed zzzz's.

when i woke up, i was all snuffle-y and my eyes are red & puffy and swollen. seems i picked up the proverbial flu while i was in hospital.

thank god i have tomorrow, sat and sun to recover from this. surprising how weak you become when you go through something like this .. the muscles in my legs feel like they're too atrophied to walk around and i have this overall sense of pure exhaustion, so have been doing a lot of lying on the couch or in bed under the madly spinning ceiling fan - stoopid brisbane heat & humidity sucks the life right out of you.

Alicia - so pleased to see that the hospital worked out what was wrong and fixed it. Get well quick and here's to less stress from work and to more planning on the holiday. :goodvibes

That is so annoying that they wouldn't just take the gall bladder out but hopefully the antibiotics will do the trick and you can get back to working at your normal capacity and get back into saving and planning for that wonderful trip.

I truly hope this is the solution to it all. :)

Great news Alicia, hopefully truly on the road to recovery!
