the scariest roller coaster right here...with pics! this is too scary!

I went to Cedar Point last summer and loved the place! I think they called it "The Roller Coaster Capital of the World". I did not get to go on Top Thrill Dragster that day, but would love to get on it some day soon. We spent most of our day on on my favorite coaster thus far, Millenium Force!!!

LOL Now do you see why us Ohioans are amused when people won't even go on the Tower of Terror at Disney. ;)

To be truthful Top Thrill Dragster is a bit, dare I say it? UNCREATIVE! It's a rush for a whopping 5 seconds and after that the rides already over again. The only fun part is when it is cold out and it doesn't make it up the hill. Then you get to fly backwards and have a longer ride. The Millenium Force on the other hand lasts a lot longer and is quite large and fast itself. I find that one more fun.

On a downside (I live right by CP) there were accidents with the Top Thrill Dragster this past summer. We were there the day it happened and several people were taken to the hospital. The accident had to do with how the coaster shoots off, and the tanks that do this blew and small shards of metal got stuck into people on one of the cars that was waiting to get blasted off.

Got to love the things you don't see on the news all the time yes? ;)

Personally, I don't see what the big deal is about rolling back. I'd think the twisting 400 foot drop forward is worse.
Ah that would be a good question if you hadn't experienced that! lol Basically the car rides all line up before the cars get shot off, there is HARDLY any room (when traveling that fast anyways) between the hill as it climbs and where the other cars are waiting to get blasted off. Basically the "scary" part of that is that as your flying back down the hill your seeing the oncoming faces of people on the track and you do not stop until the breaks lock, halting you not very far from the sitting ducks. lol

Dragster is a fun ride, but its almost "Thats it?". Think about it, its only about 17 seconds long. 17 seconds! I figure to myself, I can do almost anything for 17 seconds!

Kingda Kin will be very similiar in style and function. It is a bit uncreative with ONE big hill and that is it. I am hoping that Kingda will have less of a problem than TTD did. I remember those accidents last year with TTD.

The hill is really nothing, honestly.. It just feels like you are in a fast car. My son was 7 the first time he rode it.

The line said three hour wait and I asked my kids what they wanted to do and they said that's the ride we came here to ride we are waiting. Well it didn't take more then a hour wait(Thank goodness since the ride is less then 2minutes I think.) :

The ride itself is only 17 seconds! 2 minutes is very very long for a coaster ride. We timed TTD on our watch from the "GO" to the end and it was 17 seconds!

I was at Six Flags Great Adventure this weekend, and saw Kangda Ka (their version of the ride). It is not open, but the track is up and it is TAAAALLLL. It is unbeleivable to see. I cant wait until it opens up.... hopefully it wont have as many problems as the one in Ohio.

DawgpoundaJ- I assume you're a browns fan-teehee- nice to see another northcoaster on the boards! congrats on your upcoming wedding!!

Cedar Point is by far the best thrill-ride park in the world (IMHO). But beware, there is no Unofficial Guide to it, lol.

Most of the people that "question" TOT are probably people like me who don't care for thrill rides. I can't imagine a "thrill ride person" even thinking twice about TOT. I've done TOT and hated it, but even I think it's really a very mild thrill ride comparatively speaking, so much so, that probably lots of "non thrill" people will like it once they get talked into trying it.

I've sat below TTD two years in a row now while DH age 51 and DS ride it. If you're a coaster person, you'll probably ride most of them and might try TTD at least once and you'll certainly do something as easy as TOT. DH agrees with many here, Millenium Force is his favorite. He just says its a REALLY nice coaster.

The people that get stuck on the top and come backwards down love it, because it's like getting two rides in one for waiting in line!!! At least that's what DH and son say. We were at Cedar Point for the "east coast blackout". No one stuck at the top of TTD, but one bunch of people stopped almost to the top of Millenium Force, YIKES!!! Not me!!! Now my son wants to go to NEW JERSEY!!! Looks like another day of sitting below one of these crazy whooshing coasters!!! I probably look nuts, but I bring a book. ;)

Eeyore I am sooo sorry about the post if it came across wrong! I just made that comment out of jest. ;) And no worries, half of my family does not like thrill rides either. I'm the crazy "trog" of the family who likes the thrill stuff.

Well, we've had CP season passes for the past three years, and will sadly not be getting them this year as we will be going to WDW in May. Also, our kids will start kindergarten in the fall. In the past, we used our CP passes like crazy in May and at the end of August, when the park was just about empty!

TTD is really a tempermental diva of a coaster. I think it is down WAY too much for the cost and hype of the ride. Yes, it is a great ride, but I would choose Millenium Force over that anytime.

Besides, scary for me is more of the Thunderbolt at Kennywood where you are not allowed to single ride or you will be seriously injured or the Jackrabbit that gives you a good 3 - 4 in. of airtime on the hills.

Well, better late than never, and what better honeymoon than a WDW honeymoon?! I'm sure you'll have a blast simply because it's WDW.
Just out of curiosity, you say your courses..what courses would that be? IF you don't mind me asking...

My DH, FIL, and DH's cousins are die-hard browns fans..I enjoy going to the games at the stadium, but that's about it. Watching it on TV isn't the same, IMHO. my sis and BIL have season tickets and seats, on the opposite side of the dawgpound behind the goal posts.

I go to Cedar Point twice a year with my clients (I work with MR/DD adults) and I enjoy just walking around with them and seeing their faces. We ride some of the smaller rides, and occasionally I can get one or two of them on the Power Tower, but that's about it...

We were at CP the first year Top Thrill opened. It was continually breaking down and going backwards. It would go to the top of that hill and stall for a minute and then come speeding backwards down. The whole park would be watching and then "OOOOOHH" at the same time as it came back down.

To those few posters talking about ToT...

Dorney Park (which is owned by Cedar Fair, the big corporation with CP as its head park) is really close to where I live. There's a version of Power Tower here, it's called Dominator. A red tower shoots people 200 feet in the air and the green tower pulls the riders up slowly then holds them for a random amount of time and drops them. You sit in little seats that are open, not enclosed like ToT, and your feet dangle. I've been on the green one about three times and each time I hated it more and more. It's the worst feeling in the world, to me, to be sitting up there just waiting to drop. I love the red one though LOL!

Which is why I was scared of going on ToT. I don't like the unexpected free-fall feeling. However once I rode ToT last time, it doesn't even feel like a free-fall to me. It felt like they could control the speed, it wasn't fast at all! Thank goodness.

Kingda Ka looks like it'll be better than TTD. I, however, will refuse to stand in line for hours for a roller coaster that lasts for a mere 17 seconds. That to me seems a bit on the rediculous side...

There is a very similiar ride to the TTD in Knott's Berry Farm in California--2002...My DH and DS9 at the time, (they are both crazy LOL) both went on it. I said NO WAY! Maybe it wasn't as high, because I never heard or saw a time when it didn't make it all the way up and around...Wow, too scary for someone that is afraid of heights...LOL

Oh but there is a guide. I bought it for my daughter. There are even boards just like this one for cedar point. The guide was written by a 13 year old boy and was very good. If you want I can check my daughters room for the name. Let me know. gina

There is a freefall ride at Cedar Point (besides power tower) Called Demon Drop- similar to ToT, only four in a car, though. I can absolutely not stand this ride, it makes me sick each time I ride it, and yet I ADORE ToT..go figure!

Oh, no offense taken at all !!! I'm just in the middle of a "coaster nut family" and probably get so sick of them telling me how "WONDERFUL" all these rides are!!! YIKES!!! The real truth is that they DO talk me into riding them once in a while and I've been known to walk off rides "crying" while everyone around me is LAUGHING!!! :teeth:

Last year I did Gemini at CP. I'm 50 and it was the first coaster I've done since I was a teen-ager. While I wasn't "crying" when I got off, I WAS shaking pretty much. BUT I was really proud too that I had done it. BUT I didn't do it again, nor did I do another one!!! :guilty:

You know what THEIR greatest fear is??? Being "picked" for something, like at the Festival of the Lion King or something like that. They hate that and avoid it at all costs. The deal I usually have to make is that I'll ride TOT, if they'll go to the Lion King with me!!! :earboy2:
