I've booked to go and see Spamalot in London in November woohoo - with Tim Curry of Rocky Horror Fame.... Reid are you listening ;)

So looking into to hotel/flights etc. I can get amsterdam - london with 2 nights at the Savoy for 550 pounds. (2 persons) .. being so disappointed with not getting the job I was after I'm sorely tempted to book it just to cheer me up...

so what do you guys think, would it be worth it??

If not I'll go with the Great Eastern @ 350

I love the Savoy.....I was in a business competition there once and the recreation and ballrooms are absolutely outstanding! We didnt get chance to go in the bedrooms but I'm sure they are very impressive!!

I'm not sure what airport you're getting into but The Savoy is also on the Piccadily line which is straight through from Heathrow

Let us know what you decide!

Hi, we are also going to London in November to see Spamalot! We are staying at a hotel near Picadilly. We are also going to see Wicked. You will love the Savoy.

Pam

GO FOR IT - you need cheering up! I'm sure it would be lovely

Cheer yourself up and go for it - you know you want to

Go for it. But take the Heathrow Express to Paddington - much more pleasant than the tube from Heathrow (even if it is on the Piccadilly line). I'm just back from London and believe me we do it every time and it is well worth the money for the 15min journey.

The only thing with the Savoy is if you use the bar etc. there surely the price of drinks will be crazy prices?

If so, are there some bars nearby you can go to for cheaper drink?

That's the only thing with these posh hotels.
You pay to stay there and then there are all the other little extras that really start to add up.

If you are not worried about this, then go for it.

Sounds lovely. ENJOY :thumbsup2

dont worry about the bar issue either, there's loads of bars around on the strand and covent garden, you won't have to pay crazy prices if you don't want to....but i'm assured the room service is second to none :thumbsup2

thanks guys... I'll book it this evening.

and as for all the extra's we are cheapskates, get a really posh hotel and go to a caff nearby for breakfast... ;)

it's so central there's loads of stuff nearby.

You'll love the Savoy Aruna! I've never stayed there, but have visited the restaurants and (pricey but worth it) bars a few times, and it's wonderful!

And thankyou for letting me know that Tim Curry's going to be in Spamalot!! :thumbsup2 I've got tickets to see it in October, and had no idea that I'm going to see one of my favourite actors in the whole world!!

That sounds great, Aruna. I love Tim Curry too, I'm sure he will be wonderful.

You will love the Savoy, they do great afternoon teas there, well worth it for an afternoon treat! you can also just pop accross the road to Covent Garden - there is a great little Tapas bar there. And only a 10 minute walk to Leicester Square and a 2 min walk accross the bridge to the london Eye. if you are flying in to heathrow might be worth grabing a cab or a bus to Feltham train station (5 mins from the airport) and getting the train direct to Waterloo then its a short walk over the bridge or a taxi ride if you like (£7.50 in a black cab). Would definitly recommend this than a 1hour ride on the piccadilly line :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1
Have fun... :wizard:

in the offer it's in to heathrow and out to gatwick or other way round. Heathrow is no problem, I've got an Oyster card and I'm going to use it!! (as we'll use the tube the rest of the day as well) Just not sure of the Gatwick Express.

I'm in London so I'm fine with the tube!! It's part of the experience ;)
