We finally decided to do a trip closer to home and have booked the Sagamore for the first week of August. Anyone ever stay there? Any places to eat that we should visit? I love Disney but DH would rather a trip somewhere else therefore the Sagamore!

The Sagamore is lovely (sometimes hot) in the summer. The resort has many outdoor activities with an emphasis on sailing etc. Food in the dining room is very good but expensive. There are a number of restaurants up and down the hilly and winding road that passes through town. Lots of good fish (but the one sushi restaurant is nothing special).

Bistro Le roux is a short drive from the village of Lake George. It is by far the best restaurant in the area. The owner of this restaurant is the brother of the manager of Sagamore. Another local favorite is the Log Jam. Best ice cream is Martha's which is across from the Great Escape. A great place for lunch and breakfast is Sutton's Marketplace. A great local place for pizza is harvest restaurant. All the locals go there. I'm originally from the Lake George area. The manager of the Sagamore is a family friend. What a beautiful resort! August is popular time to visit Saratoga race track. Lots of wonderful restaurants in Saratoga Springs. You have picked a beautiful resort for your vacation. Take a boat ride through the "narrows". It's one of the most beautiful spots on Lake George.

Please come back and tell us all about it. Good to know you can get it for summer time.

In August, there are plenty of things to do.

Saratoga Horse race track, one of the top tracks in the country. A must!
Saratoga Casino.
Lake George Friday night concert series!
Lake George Wednesday night concert series.
Fireworks Thursday Nights Lake George.
Boating on Lake Champlain as well as Lake George.
Tour Lake Placid.
Great area restaurants.

Thanks to everyone! I will start doing research on the restaurants. We are going to relax. Any advice on the restaurants on the property? Does anyone know if we need to make reservations way in advance?
