QOTD: What are you doing to celebrate Valentine's Day?

Daughter's 2nd birthday was 2/11 so we just wrapped up our 3rd birthday party of the weekend. It also happens to be my wife and my's 10 year dating anniversary today. Also, got in a nice chilly 10 miles run in -5 WC. Hope everyone had a nice Valentine's Day!

Would the movie be appropriate for an 8th grader (almost 14)?

It would depend on the kid. It is quite vulgar and violent. The language is foul, the humor is crude, and the violence is extreme, but it is an amazing and hilarious movie.

Took my boys to see Deadpool. See it. AWESOME!

My wife and I don't celebrate this holiday for our own reasons.

That's exactly how my wife and I celebrated today. It was a great move. Absolutely loved it.

My husband is OBSESSED with Deadpool - he actually ran in a Deadpool outfit at Wine & Dine. He saw the movie at 10 on Thursday night, and now is making me go see it with him tomorrow night.

He said it was perfect.

I can totally understand being obsessed. Deadpool is only like the best Marvel character ever. I don't understand this having to make you see it. It's a movie everyone should want to see. I gave my wife the choice of Deadpool or How to be Single and she choose Deadpool.

It's not so much "making me" go as it is it wouldn't be something I would choose to do on my own. I am intrigued because I think Ryan Reynolds was pretty amazing during all the media roll-out for the movie and it seems like this is the role he was born to play.

Agree with this comment. I have a sensitive child who would have been fine with this at 13/14. IMO, the only folks who will have a problem with this film are the people who can't get past the language, but you couldn't produce this movie any other way and make it work.

This is 100% true. It feels like RR is playing himself in this movie. Perfect casting all the way around.

I completely agree with this. I couldn't have imagined a better person playing this role. I know it is a character he's wanted to play in a full length movie for a while.

Also, so to rename this thread to The Deadpool Thread now?

Congrats to @DOOM1001 and @gjramsey on the race and PR's over the weekend! @Nole95 how did you race go over the weekend?

QOTD: How do you feel if you miss a few runs?

ATTQOTD: Terrible! I become very lazy and frustrated. It's a snowball effect of I just need to rest to feel better and the excuses just add up, when in reality if I just get out the door my thinking becomes clearer and I feel much more energized.

QOTD: What are you doing to celebrate Valentine's Day?
I was supposed to work a 12-hour day, but it was extended into a 15-hour day due to frigid temps in the northeast. It was terrible! I only got through it because I had emergency chocolate on hand. My long-distance boyfriend and I don't celebrate it, but he owes me a love poem. ;)

Like a lazy, useless sack of lard.

I become frustrated with myself, anxious that I am going to wind up surrendering to the blerch.

QOTD: Are you going to watch the Olympic trials for the marathon today?
ATTQOTD: I didn't. I had a chore list a mile long for the weekend, so no time to watch unfortunately. :(

QOTD: What are you doing to celebrate Valentine's Day?

ATTQOTD: Not much. More chores at home. :) But did cook a nice family dinner for my clan and my folks.

Sorry the race didn't go quite as planned @LSUlakes , but still seems like you did really well. I can only dream of running races that fast!!

Great job on the race @gjramsey and fantastic on being first in your group!

@DOOM1001 sounds like a good race and congrats on a new PR!!

ATTQOTD: Hate it. I get in a really bad mood. I never realized until I got hurt the first time and had to take a few weeks off, how much running does for me mentally.

We have a lot of folks participating in races this upcoming weekend! I think I counted 10+ events. Big weekend and looking forward to discussing it with yall.

It is really amazing how much better I feel when I get my runs in!

QOTD: How do you feel if you miss a few runs?
There's two reasons for missed runs.
Sometimes life gets in the way (hubby business trip/working late, or being sick, or too many plans) and those I get really disappointed and feel sorry for myself that life is too busy for my "me time." And then I suck it up and try to find a replacement time.
The other reason is from laziness and in those cases I feel a mix of guilty & blobby & mad at myself.

So basically, I'm never happy when missing a run.

QOTD: How do you feel if you miss a few runs?
It used to really bother me but I've come to accept that one missed run won't really hurt that much. I ended up calling off my long run this weekend (was supposed to be 2:15 at pace with hills, which is nearly 20 miles), but the weather was awful and my wife asked if we could take the kids to the indoor water park up at Niagara Falls. My coach told me not to be stupid and risk running in all the snow and -20º temps...so water park it was :)

QOTD: How do you feel if you miss a few runs?

I am missing my 7 mile easy run today. I don't feel great about it, but I think I used all my motivation to get out for 10 miles yesterday in 4° (-5° WC). Plus, we then skied all day afterwards, so I just needed to rest and sleep in this morning. Given a day of skiing today followed by driving 5.5 hours back to Chicago, there is no way to get the run in later today, plus I have my speed session tomorrow morning. I might try to make up the 7 miles on Wednesday (normally my day off).

Last month, I missed two workouts in a row due to sickness. I was worried that the sickness was going to stick around a while (fever/shivers/sore throat), so I was just happy that it wasn't more than two days. I was excited to get back out.

QOTD: How do you feel if you miss a few runs?
I never miss a run without a good reason, so I don't sweat it. If I have to miss runs for more than a few days, I start to worry about how it might impact my fitness and/or training. Still, since I know that it was unavoidable, I try not to let it effect me.

My biggest concern - running keeps my migraines under control.
