I'm with @rteetz on this one...a race on the schedule is great motivation (or guilt, however you want to look at it). Having a plan helps too as you will feel the need to stick to it. You can also bribe yourself...pizza and beer usually works for meQOTD: Anyone have any tricks when motivation is lacking… the bed magnet is incredibly strong or you don’t feel like going for other reasons? What keeps you going? What do you think of to make you determined to get out there?

The hardest part of any run is just getting out there...once you start you remember how great it is (...usually)
It's exceedingly rare for me to not want to get outside and run. Like, I can count on one hand how many times that happens in a year. I run first and foremost because I simply love doing it, so I never lack motivation! On those rare days that I'm just not feeling it at all, I take the day off; I figure my body must be telling me something if I'm at that point.
