What is the Rule of Four?
You cannot book and travel on The Disney Collection (excluding Disneyland® Resort Hotels in California and Tokyo Disney Resort®), Concierge Collection and Adventurer Collection vacations within the last 4 months of your Use Year. However, you can travel in the last 4 months of your Use Year as long as you've booked your stay more than 4 months before the end of your Use Year.

I thought I knew stuff. Now I'm confused. What does the Rule of 4 mean? We've recently closed on a Sept use year contract that has remaining 2013 points. Does the rule of 4 mean I can't use any of these points because it's less than 4 months away? Is this true? Whoa!

were you planning on using pts for the disney collection (i.e. disney hotels)?

the rule of 4 has nothing to do with booking DVC villas.

if you TRADE OUT of the DVC system, DVC has to get cash to pay for your trade...so they need lead time to book a DVC villa with your pts and try to rent it for cash. that is all the rule of 4 is saying. if you are sloppy and are about to let your pts expire, DVC is not willing to get stuck with them.

Simply stated, the Rule of 4 does not apply to points purchased via resale. Points purchased via resale cannot be used to book any option covered by the rule

As already posted, the Rule of 4 does not apply to booking any DVC resort.

30 days ago I was exactly where you are right now! I had a mini heart attack when I came across the rule of 4 until I realized it didn't have to do with my DVC vacations. You can breath now.
