This was a nightmare - checked in early as it was split stay. Just after lunch we received a call from the Back office and there was a problem with our room - previous guests hadn't check out on time. Went back to Contemporary from MK - guests have disappeared and they are not sure whats going to happen. Given a LV room for one night as no other Std View where checking out. Promised room early tomorrow as H/Keeping will make it a priority. Next day went back at 4pm as still not heard - room finally ready at 4.30pm

We are no longer doing split stays as I don't need the stress in the middle of a vacation.

IMHO, they should have let you have a lake view for the whole stay for no extra points.

This thread is making me wonder if the after 4pm problem was as bad as we thought.

When things go wrong, people post about it and people read those posts!

When things go right, we write it in our trip reports, which are read by only the people interested in our particular trips, and almost no one notices that something nice happened.




Last December, checked into OKW 2 bedroom fairly early, got in. Did online checkin, only request was First Floor because of my aunt's knee (ONLY put in request online), and got that request.

A 4 nights' stay later, checked into OKW 1 bedroom, had to wait a couple hours. Did online checkin, NO request (as aunt would not be with us), got first floor, LOL.

After that stay and Universal, checked into Jambo after 6pm after NOT doing online checkin (I will always regret that), got into a room, but it was a room that was unacceptable, long story, next day got into another room well before 4.


This September 13th, checked into OKW 2 bedroom around noon, got in. Did online checkin, only request was for First Floor because of my aunt's knee (ONLY put in request online), and got that request.

A 4 nights' stay later (is there a pattern?) on the 17th, checked into BWV studio with no request around noon, had done online checkin, got into a room right then.

Next day (the 18th) checked into OKW 1 bedroom, had done online checkin with no requests, got mixed up with someone else. My last name can be used as a first name as well, and the CM just looked for the name and pulled that man's file. Finally realized it, pulled OUR file, gave us...the other guy's room because it was ready (so so so sorry, we TRIED to get the CM to not do this!). It was handicap accessible (to which I stated "absolutely NOT") but also had the jacuzzi tub (and then I quizzed him about what the rest of the room was like), and I accepted the room. Dude whose first name is my last name, oh man I hope you did not need that room. I asked the CM several times if you had requested an HA room, and he said no no no, so I do hope that was true!

Anyway, online checkin, mixup at counter, would NOT have gotten into a room at 11:30, but we did anyway. And it was a fine room right next to the quiet pool.



Apart from an inappropriate room and a name mixup, we haven't had any problems with checkin.

And only the one where we did have the problem with the room went anywhere but my trip reports!

When I was there in may our room was ready at 8:00 am at the BWV .Of course I had done on line check in ,it may help sometimes when you do that ?

I had to laugh because I can barely remember that far back. I'll stick to this trip as I can't remember Jan, May, Aug trips.

Requested dedicated 1 bedroom (#123 room) Did not get my request. I did get a dedicated 1 bedroom but on the ground floor. The CM wanted to argue with me and tell me that rooms 2123, 3123, 4123 are all STUDIOS, but I told her I knew they were 1 bedrooms. She said I didn't get my request because they are all STUDIOS. I could not win this argument, so gave up. I agreed that 1123 was a studio as I've been in the room twice now. I still have a great room. A great location to the exits and pool, so I'm happy. I just wanted to get one of the corner rooms at least once, but again, not this trip.
I was thrilled that my room was ready as I just took my suitcases and stuff downstairs and then headed to the grocery store before it got too late, then off to the airport to pick up the grandkids. Since I didn't have to wait all day for my room I feel like I actually got an extra day of vacation.

Online check was not working for my other 3 trips this year. When I use online checkin I generally will get my room earlier, but seldom get my requests.

Here now. Checked in at BCV on Sunday. Three studios. First one ready around 11 am and the last one at 1:30 pm.

4:30pm asked again about room, was told it was ready and "we were going to text you"
Room was filled with smell of burnt rubber from vacuum (I complained and housekeeping showed up with an armload of blankets and pillows I did not request (yet, LOL) and ran the vacuum some more just to show me it worked (but smelled so bad!) I really wish they spoke better english, or maybe I need to learn Portuguese/Spanish.

Agree completely!

There are 3500 - 4500 DVC viilas at WDW alone (depending upon how lockoffs are counted.) With most rooms holding more than one party in a week, there are literally hundreds-of-thousands of DVC member check-ins per year.

Not sure what conclusions can be drawn from a few dozen reports.

BTW, in 8 years as members we have NEVER waited longer than 2:30pm to gain entrance to our room. (knock wood!)

We have been DVC members since 2004 and have gone to Disney on average 6 times per year (live 80 miles fron Disney). Our rooms have not been ready by 4 PM 90% of the time. When we stay at FW site ready 80% od the time.

Wow! Our experience hasn't been that bad. It will be interesting to see if your experience improves!

I was SHOCKED that all rooms, including GV, were ready, especially since the resort is completely full. In the past we have often had to wait until 4:00 for our room.
