The road trip!!

So... we have made it to the Midwest from Ca... did not have to flag any truckers down due to unruly teens...LOL. both are still alive and well. DS drove well and experienced driving in all types of summer road conditions and different cities. He is 16 and has his learners permit. DD has made new friends in every hotel we stayed at along the way.

My ds 16 had a list of all the SONIC drive ins located on our route
We stopped for dinner at the one in Cheyenne... the SHAKES ARE FABULOUS!!! DS had a Coconut cream shake.. YUMMY!

Madison, Wisconsin was our first stopover with Family and friends! It was great fun. Have not seen these people for 3 years so it was a lovely weekend.....

On to Illinois!! Onward
!UPDATE:

Hey there! WE are in Illinois... and the first place we stopped at was WHITE CASTLE!!!! Had to have a ''SLIDER"
Kids are at Six Flags in St. Louis area today.. I am taking a much needed day of rest!
We got to check out some houses in the Plainfield area, just in case Barry ever does get the job in Aurora. HOLY SMOKES... the folks in Illinois are trying to catch up with us in CA... with the cost of new homes.. WHOA NELLY.. and the corn fields are shrinking due to urban sprawl south of Chicago...
Had dinner with my brothers family on Monday evening before they headed out for WDW!!! Lucky geese they are! My niece described "Buzz Lightyear" to a T. She was chomping at the bit to get to see Minnie at WDW!!
THe next two days will be spent with some of Barry's family and my daughters family. A couple BBQ's to attend!
Got to see a few Cub's news clips on the local TV.. looks like the game we are planning to attend on Monday will be a humdinger.
Kimraye has informed me that it is "70's NIGHT" at Wrigley when the Cubs host the Astros!
as for traveling with the teens.. I have learned an important lesson: DO NOT TRY TO TALK WITH THEM FOR AT LEAST 90 Minutes AFTER THEY RISE IN THE AM..... LOL.. it will save your sanity!

If you were in Madison WI and went on to IL then you must have had to have driven right thru my city of Beloit WI. I wish I had known, we could have met somewhere if even for a quick hello, nice to meet you. Have a nice trip.

A road trip across the country with teens???!!!! That sounds like a recipe for disaster, lol.

mamajoan, as much as I would love to be at the Chicago meet it is totally impossible. My husband was involved in an accident on his way home from work 2 1/2 weeks ago. was run off the road at 11:20 pm and ended up at the edge of a small ravine, he didn't know where the car was pointed because it was dark and he stepped out of the car and fell into the small ravine, he tumbled head over foot several times and severly damaged his shoulder, he just about crushed his shoulder ball, broke the humerus. dislocated shoulder backwards and fractured the shoulder ball along with crushing part of it, had surgery in UW Madison Hospital and now he can't be left alone per Dr orders,
Hopefully next Chicago meet I can make it, have a great time.

Sounds like fun! We just did a road trip to SC! It only took us 12 hrs., lol! We also found a Sonic! I love that place!
