Just for fun...
I just got back from WDW on Oct 17th. I wanted to test the theory that the right line is always quicker so we always went to the right even if the right line appeared to be longer. We went to the right for everything. :rotfl: The theory proved to be true! Of course it could have been a pure coincidence but hey, I felt better going to the right. We were there for 4 days and the the wait times were about 30 minutes for everything except Soarin which had a 90 minute wait. On Soarin we were forced to go to the left and we moved slower than the right. I would love to know if other people have tested this and what there results were.

That's weird, because I'd always read in the Unofficial Guide and other places that it was always better to go on the LEFT side!

That is what I always thought. Since the majority of people are right handed they tend to migrate to the right just out of habit.

LOL Go figure... everything I've always read was to the left too. Glad it worked out for you.

I went w/ 4 other girls and none of us could remember what we read about being quicker so we all decided to go with the right. I can't wait to tell them we were wrong :goodvibes
I must say though, I am glad we were wrong :cool1:

I do have to say that when I've tried the right lane, it does move much faster than the left! When we were there during Christmas chose the right hand lane on POTC. There was a HUGE line on the left, and the right was completely deserted. My dad thought I was being a troublemaker and going somewhere I wasnt' supposed to be :rotfl: Anyway, we walked right on and had a boat completely to ourselves!

I don't know why it works, but it does.

LOL...I thought that the rule was that the left is quicker/shorter too! Maybe now that we all know this, the opposite is now true and the right side is quicker! :rotfl:

That's what I was going to say. Everyone has heard this and now uses the left.

This is what I always heard.

We believe in a corollary to Murphy's Law:the slowest line is the one we just got into.

You know, if some people could do this on behalf of The DIS....

Party of 4, all of you synchronize your watches.....

Two of you go to the left line, and then two of you go to the right line.

Write down the exact times that you were able to actually get on the ride.

Do this for *MANY* of the rides, and report to The DIS when you get back.

You could sell a book on this and make millions.
I always wanted to be a line engineer. I could start off by studying Disney  I can dream can't I?

People do tend to go to the right. If you look at MK at the hub, the bridges to the right over to Tomorrowland are much wider than the bridges to the left leading to Adventureland. The Imagineers did this because most people have a tendency to go to the right, either because of right handeness, but probably also because that's the way we drive here. (Little tidbit from the Keys to the Kingdom tour.)

Maybe many people have heard of the whole left is better thing and are trying to go to the left more, so then, now it's just the opposite, that the right is better... Dunno.. Just an idea.

:earsboy: pirate:

I'm all for testing this theory. Here's the catch: For any popular ride with two lines, I think most have allocated one entire line for FASTPASS. Perhaps the Tomorrowland Speedway is a good choice in the MK...(racking brain for others)...Pirates has two lines, but I think the SOP is to use one only....

If we can come up with a testing method, I can supply the people to do the testing.

Our family finds from our numerous trips that if the left line is open at POC it is always much shorter. We just returned from a Columbus day weekend trip.
Even though the crowds on Fri. and Sat. at MK were spring break like the left line at POC was always 5 mins or less. I might add the estimated wait outside on the sign was 40 minutes and we walked on courtesy of the left line. So at least on POC the right is quicker in our past experiences is definitely not the case.
