I don't think this is rocket science but for the life of me I can't figure out which is the best option to take for tickets on our first visit home (VWL) on 8/11-8-18. The AP might be best if we plan to return within the year but we can't think past three weeks from now. The Park Hopper Pass Plus appears to be the next best buy. We didn't plan to use a park on the Saturday we leave WDW so 7 days, which I understand is the limit on that ticket option, may be enough. We plan to use all the parks, maybe a water park and definitely PI. Disney QUest is an alternative if the weather is poor. We might go to Sea World one day too. Is there a DVC discount for tickets or do I use the Disney CLub card I've yet to have sent to me? Can you use Park Hopper Plus passes later, if we haven't used it up? Any suggestions are appreciated.

There is no DVC discount for the tickets you mentioned. There is a 10% DVC discount on the UMP pass which would include all parks, PI, DQ and water parks during your stay. You can drop the first and last day from the UMP thru DVC.

You can check <a href="http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/tickets.htm">ticket prices</a> right here at DIS.

Good luck!

Your DC card will get you a discount on all of the passes; I'm not sure it's any better than the one you can get online via the link Doc provided, but if you opt to go with an AP or PAP, you should definitely use the DC discount.

The PH and PHP unused days never expire. If you are definite on PI, go with the PHP.

Thanks for the advice which only leads to one more question to Doc: What does it mean to "drop the first and last day"? Does that mean I wouldn't be able to use a park on the first day?

That's exactly what it means. But you need to remember that the first day is your arrival day, and the last day is your checkout day. We fly to Orlando and arrive in the late afternoon, so dropping the first day makes sense for us. By the same token, if you have an afternoon flight home, dropping the last day shouldn't hurt either. And it saves you a *lot* of money.

You may want to reconsider an Annual Pass depending on how old your kids are. My daughter is only 2 and pool hopping is fine with her. She had a great time in every pool we went to, including the Poly pool and SAB. You may also want to look at www.mousesavers.com under "Entertainment" for ideas on how to save at Pleasure Island. I can guarantee that if you get an Annual Pass, you'll be back within the year. Those things have a habit of burning a whole in your pocket ;).

Anyway ... her are all the prices for you!

Here's how things break down with the DC discount and 6% tax:

Ticket/Adult/Child
7 Day Park Hopper Plus $308.49 $247.01
Annual Pass $354.04 $301.04
Premium AP $475.97 $404.94
Pleasure Island $19.00 $19.00
BB or TL $30.74 $23.85

Ultimate Park Hopper (plus 6% tax)
5 $249 $199
6 $281 $225
7 $313 $250

Doc, A quick question about the UMP. We are between AP's, and only going for a quick 3 night visit next month. I don't want to get new AP's yet since our next family visit isn't until February. I didn't want the 3 nite/4 day UMP, as we get there late afternoon the first day and leave at noon the last day. 2 nite/3 day would be perfect for us, but I didn't realize it was an option. Do I need to reserve this ahead of time, or should I do it at check in?

Thanks for the info!
Chris

They'll take care of it at check-in for you. No need for any advance notice.

Enjoy! :)

Could you please give some additional info about taking off days of the UMP's. We arrive Sat at 5 pm ish, and leave on Friday we will probably leave WDW by 3pm. So therefore I would only have to purchase 5 day/5 night pass? Do you know how much that would be with the DVC discount as I am debating about getting 5 day hopper (I dont have DC card...yet) I still have 3 water park/PI visits on my hoppers remaining from a December trip, no park admissions though. I would really like to purchase an AP but not sure if we will visit WDW next year, we are going to HH in May and I am so excited about that!!! :D :D

Thank you for any info!!!
Lisa

You can do a cost comparison with the <a href="http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/tickets.htm"> ticket information</a> here at DIS. Just deduct the 10% DVC discount from the normal UMP prices. Our DVC resorts will remove the 1st and last days from the UMP if desired.

Enjoy!

We're going to VWL the same week. After an exhaustive search regarding ticket purchase we decided on a 6 day plus 3 park pass. Since it will be so hot in August, we will spend one day at Blizzard Beach and another day just relaxing at the resort (probably our last day). Since the days on the pass never expire, we plan to use them for our next trip in February 2002. Before making any decision on tickets you may want to plan out your activities for each day.
