The Reveal

I crafted this awesome letter from "Mickey" and gave it to my six-year-old son to read. The letter stated that he's been a very good boy and his mommy wants to do something special for him. I closed with "Guess where you're going this summer!" and signed it "See ya real soon! - Mickey Mouse"

The conversation went like this:

Aidan: I'm going to Florida?
Me: Yup. And what's in Florida? Where does Mickey Mouse live?
Aidan: DISNEY WORLD!
Me: Yes! I'm taking you to Disney World this summer!"
*cat wanders by*
Aidan (distractedly): Disney World....
*cat sits*
Aidan: Can I pet the cat?
Me: ... well, that was anti-climactic.

Reminds me so much of my son. We were standing in the front row watching the parade at Disney and he turns to me and says "can we go to Canobie Lake Park this summer"? It's a tiny, family owned amusement park 5 minutes from home. I nearly fell over!

He's been getting more excited about it the more we talk about it. He wants to meet as many characters as he can (even princesses!), ride It's A Small World, Dumbo, the carousel, and I even talked him into Big Thunder Mountain!

He's iffy on Haunted Mansion, a firm NO on Tower of Terror .

YouTube is great, I can show him the rides and things to get him used to things that might be a little scary for him (he's also not keep on PoTC, for example), and we both get all worked up and excited.

I'm really glad I told him beforehand. Knowing what he's interested in will help me plan meals better.

My DD did that last summer at Disney, she asked if we could go to the beach this summer.........I was like what the heck! But in her defense, it was raining nearly the whole trip..
