Hey all,

Just wondering if anybody's heard anything about Paint the Night recently? We're heading into the thick of summer... shouldn't it be being performed at the parks throughout the summer for the masses to enjoy?? I'm not sure of Disney's reasoning for constantly hiding this marvelous parade away the way they have been...

Thoughts?

I kept hoping they would bring it back to help move the crowd over to DCA but it never happened :(

One of the MSEP was spotted on the freeway a couple of days ago. There have been conflicting reports saying that MSEP will return and will take PTN spot and some are saying that the one float seen in sitting in a DCA warehouse waiting to be shown at D23. We probably won't know anything till D23

Well, if something were to debut over D23 weeked... that could be cool! Of course, since my planning is already pretty structurally laid out already, it'll cause me to scrambled to re-juggle my plans around to accommodate anything new that's added to the roster. But I'd welcome either Paint the Night or Main Street Electrical Parade back to the parks...

... or if it goes the way you're saying there and it is just to display a float or something at D23... I guess that's cool but not as fun as seeing the whole parade once more!

I would not expect any parades at DCA until 2020 when the trolley returns. They use the same route and currently it is not able to be used due to Marvel construction. For this reason Paint the night will not be returning to that park. As for it returning to Disneyland, I believe the expectation is that they have done what it takes to make sure crowds and expectations are kept at bay vs overfilling the park. As such it also will not be returning to Disneyland this summer. The big "What IF" is if crowds don't come. If crowds stay where they are at I can see 1st passholders being unblocked. If that does not bring in more crowds it will likely return to bring the crowds. That said, Disneyland has full control of the crowds right now and I believe that they are about where they want them. If food and Merch are hitting their numbers in the park and they have lower crowds and better guest experience I think it is a win win.

The parade gate isn’t blocked though. The parade turns left by guardians to a gate that’s not blocked. The blockage is on the other side for the trolley.

Maybe they currently need the backstage area where the parades route through for like... equipment and extra construction storage and facilitation? Idk...

I've been trying to figure this out for years. Amazing parade. Maybe the best show that Disneyland has done this decade (fireworks, parades, etc.). But they keep it under wraps. For a place known for being an expert at "the show", they don't like to put on many. Seems like they're just saving a few bucks....

Dear Disney: if you're prices are twice of what your competitors are, please have twice the entertainment. Right now, you ain't even close.

PTN is the best parade ever (IMO). Why that wouldn't be a permanent fixture is beyond me. At least we got to see it many times during the 60th and again last year, but I want to see it again!
It's my favorite too and I went in thinking I would never like anything as much as the Electrical Light Parade....boy was I wrong!

They’re able to run the Halloween parade over in DCA... so either a lot will have changed in just a handful of weeks, or they could reroute it / use the original route.

I also was surprised last year by how much I loved Paint the Night, sure would love it back!

If you asked me last year if Paint the Night was returning to DCA for 2019, I would've put money on it. I really thought they would bring the parade back to keep people in DCA. When World of Color came back with only one show per night, I thought that was another hint that Paint the Night was returning.

PTN is a very cost and labor intensive parade to run. CMs have to be in great condition for that parade -- the route is almost a mile long in DCA. The number of injuries reported for that parade has been very high in the past. That's why the costumes were redesigned to try to prevent some of the repetitive stress injuries. If PTN were returning soon, there would have been audition announcements a long time ago so that the CMs could be getting in shape for the parade debut. I would love to see PTN return, but I think we would have heard something about it by now if it were going to be on the schedule this summer.
