The return of annual passes

As a South Florida resident I guess I need to decide how much we will go. In the last year it's been $200 for 4 days ( a little higher right now) I can use them one at a time , we never go at school breaks so that's not an issue. If I buy passes its 800 down then 200 a month for 4 people. Or I can buy SeaWorld passes for $118 and legoland passes for $100 and no money a month or $ 350- $550 for universal passes.

Based on what I see on the disney site it looks like you cant buy anything unless a FL resident or Blue card DVC member. Is there a clarification on this?
Pixie dust and Pirate passes FL only
Sorcerer FL and DVC Blue card (IE no resale DVC)
Incredipass is worded oddly at the top, shows payment plan for FL residents but does not have the bullet point below stating FL or DVC only. So can I assume this is the only one available to a schlep like me that only has dvc resale?

It is confusing. But the first 3 options have a final bullet point that indicates they are for either Florida residents only (Pixie Dust and Pirate) or residents + DVC (Sorcerer). The IncrediPass has no similar limitation listed.

Our daughters are 21 and 17. We have 2 trips planned in the next year, and after that ¯\(ツ)/¯. They both still love the parks, but schedules and life will no longer make regular 4-of-us vacations simple, no matter where.
Also, FWIW, my wife and I have been giving serious consideration to retiring to Orlando (not imminent, but close enough to make speculation and thought meaningful). I have to say that this on top of all the other recent changes make that at least somewhat less appealing, and somewhat more likely we sell our DVC in a few years. Nothing certain by any means, and we were never going to move to Orlando just for Disney but it is/was a factor in the mix. Lots to consider.

Definitely more confusion on this one. Wonder what tax rate they go in at? Looks like the break even is in the 11+ days in the park over a year

I might have missed this in the thread…two questions: are there repercussions for not showing up to park reservations like DLR has? Can you use gift cards to purchase APs?

It Can actually be both.

We have know from even before the pandemic how profit driven and greedy Eiger and company are.
And they've lost their loyal customer base because of it.

But they have also been tremendously crippled by the pandemic. (It's not like they were Amazon or Zoom that fortuitously benefitted from the pandemic). So they are in money saving survival mode.

That’s incorrect. If Disney were tremendously crippled, their value wouldn’t be UP $60Billion from pre-Pandemic. Markets are efficient, and the markets know Disney is far from crippled. No need to apologize for their taking more and giving less. Market value trend:

Yes, you can use up to 2 Disney gift cards per transaction for an AP purchase. Disney gift cards max out at $1000 per card.

If you need to buy more than 1 gift card, you can do 2 transactions to purchase using 4 gift cards. Do not lose those gift cards though if you buy online or over the phone. Disney claims they require you to present your method of purchase when you activate your AP in person. They have never asked me for them when activating - but that is what is in the fine print.

There are no details on repercussions for no-showing a Park Pass reservation but it may be the same as DLR, more info will probably come out on or before 9/8/21.

Thank you!!

Market valuation is different from revenue.

Revenue for FY 2020 was $65.39 Billion, down from $69.61 Billion in FY 2019, but still well above their revenue in FY 2018 of $59.43 Billion. FY 2021 revenue is at $48.88 Billion as of 7/3/21 and EPS was up to $1.02 for the 9 months of FY 2021 compared to a EPS loss of $1.17 for the first 9 months of FY 2020 (Disney's FY is October through September).

Again, Disney is doing just fine - they are not heading for bankruptcy or in trouble what-so-ever. Publicly trade companies don't just make up these numbers, there are a ton of SEC rules that they need to follow and they get audited by 3rd parties.

Is it wrong that the real thing that bothered me was the naming of the top tier pass?? They should have switched Sorcerer pass with Incredi-Pass. Sorcerer Mickey should be at the top at all times. Don't know why this bothering me so much, but it just is hahaha.

The block-out dates are more strategic on this pass. They are blocking out a week in March when many kids in Florida have spring break.

They didn't do that in the past.

Additional holiday weekends also seem blocked out that weren't before.

They did open up the summer -- when many Florida residents shun the parks anyway.

Uh yea that's why I had no problem skipping July..
Why oh why would your purposefully spend that kind of money to stand in the heat when the other 10 months are so much better.
I was just talking to my DH , we had money set aside for the silver pass $550 each , the extra money these new passes are going to cost I dont think we are going to do it. 😭

Uni doesn't have as many properties that have stood the test of time like classic Disney has, but part of the reason they have endured is because Disney helps keep them int he forefront through the parks and their otehr merchandise and marketing efforts. I don't think it matters much if a ride is based on an old property - many kids might first discover them through the parks. Really, a ride doesn't have to be based on a movie at all.

Universal may have a lot of rides based on relatively recent IP, but they aren't really that curent anymore. Brendan Fraser's The Mummy? I mean, I love those movies, but they aren't really in the pop-culture conversation at the moment. Peter Jackson's Kong? E.T.? Popeye and Dudley Do-Right? I don't really think Uni is all that more recent - though I also don't think that it matters.

And don’t forget how many of universals rides are simulator or 3D based and some are practically the same ride with different theme.

Is this a correct comparison from the old AP structure to the new? I’m trying to get a sense of what has changed:

Platinum Plus: $1295 —> Incredi-Pass: $1299 = 3% increase and no known FL or DVC discount
Platinum AP: gone

Gold Pass: $719 (FL or DVC)—> Sorcerer: $899 (25% increase)
Silver Pass: $539 (FL) —> Pirate: $699 (29% increase)
Weekday select: $369 (FL) —> Pixie Dust: $399 (8% increase)

Theme Park select and the Epcot only passes appear to be gone. Of course, PhotoPass is no longer included.

For me, the biggest thing I’m ticked about is the 25% increase in the gold pass coupled with the exclusion of PhotoPass. I’ll also be annoyed if they really don’t offer any FL/DVC discount on the Incredi-Pass.
