Anyone here watch this on Sun on NBC? It is about a restaurant opening in NY. It was great and now I'm hooked on another reality show!!
The best part is we have ressies at this very restaurant this Fri. night to celebrate our wedding anniversary which was yesturday.
How cool is that to be able to watch these people on TV and then be there yourself! Hubby is there now, he works around there, and he made the ressies and met the chef Rocco!!!
On a side note, he also met the comic John Languinzamo(sp?)
He always meets famouse people!! What a job!

Have a great meal on Friday. That will be fun just being there, like on a TV set.

This show should be interesting. Anything can happen in the service industry. Some people have suggested that I open a bake shop and I think OMG, no way if I had to deal with some customers and vendors yet still keep a smile on my face. Forget it if your kitchen goes up in flames like they showed on the previews of next week.

I wonder if we will see any waiters spitting on customers food. :p

That's really cool! I'm not into reality TV myself, but I do have loads of restaurant stories from back in the day. Working in a restaurant really is like a soap opera. Just to prove my point - I ended up having a fling with a co-worker and I also ended up dumping my long-term non-restaurant boyfriend for the guy that's now my DH. And that was just ME. :D

The restaurant world is really kind of an underground thing. Your days off are everyone else's work days and vice versa. You end up partying alot because the only time you have to yourself is the middle of the night. Sleep all day, work in the evening, what else can you do at 2 AM?;) I enjoyed it immensely when I was young, but I couldn't handle it anymore.:p

I watched the show the other night also. At first I just turned to it to see what it was about and before I knew it, I was hooked.

It would be fun to go there after watching the show and see all of the behind the scenes stuff. It looks like the food would be great.

Enjoy

Ok, so I admit it - I watched this. But cynical me noticed within the opening montage that it was going to be an ad for Coors and for American Express.

Couldn't miss the two images. Also realized when they were 'standing behind the SUV talking' at the gas station that it was an ad for Mitsubishi also. They didn't disappoint, as the ads I saw on commercial break were for - you guessed it -

Coors, Mitsubishi, and AMEX.

Comeon, that line about "Don't come back until you get some Coors for all these people". Talk about planned.

I totally agree! DH watched it with me and was like what the heck is this guy doing driving a Mitsubishi if he is such a successful chef in the city?!! Then we saw the commercials and that explained it.

Good luck there. Let us know how it goes.

That restaurant used to be Commune, which was HORRIBLE. Very hip, got lots of publicity. But boy, it was one of the worst dinner I ever had. Long wait at the hostess..... not because there aren't any table, but because she was just absolutely clueless. Most dishes not available. No wine list....etc.

I really hope Rocco didn't make the same mistake. It's a great space at a really good culinary neighborhood. Kitchen 22 a couple stores down is fantastic (and pre-fix too).
