The Remy Thread-Chefs de France (schedule in 1st post)

We're going to Chefs for an early dinner in July 2010. It would be great if Remy was still there. We had planned on going there anyway, but when I heard about the possibility of seeing Remy I was excited. I have not told my kids about him being there though since there is no guarantee we will see him. If he is there I will let them be surprised!

This was DGS (20 mos old) favorite thing! He was mesmorized by Remy:goodvibes His Mother was inspired by his reaction and had to buy him a stuffed Remy as a souvenir.

I have to admit...the handler was pretty good and it was well done:thumbsup2

I hope the decision is made to keep him around for awhile.

Is Remi still making appearances at the restaurant in France? Is it called Chefs de France? If so, during what hours?

Yes, making periodic appearances between 12:30 and 6 PM, Monday - Saturday.

hi all-- we are going to WDW in late May and wanted to see Remy! I have a dinner ADR on a Friday night...but then started looking around for a schedule for Remy appearances.

Does anyone know if he is at Dinner, or is it just lunch...will he still be around in May?

TIA!

Aim

OK, this is going to be a dumb question.

Your ADR is at Chef's de France, right? That the only place to see the animatronic Remy. I don't think there is a set schedule, though.

Our ADR is at chefs...I've seen posts about Remy at lunch, but haven't seen anything that confirms he comes thru during the dinner hours. We are scheduled for a 6:20pm meal.

Thanks!

From what I've read and seen, Remy comes around during lunch, and tends wrap things up anytime around 4 - 5:30 PM. If you have an early dinner ADR you may get lucky and catch him, but by 6 PM he''l most likely be gone.

We had a dinner ADR sometime around 5 -5:30 PM back in October, and I wasn't expecting to see Remy. As we were being seated though, he was making his final rounds and was able to stop by our table

Hi,

Steve Soares' site states Remy's schedule is:

Inside Les Chefs de France.
Monday-Saturday at 12:30, 1:40, 2:50 & 5:20pm

I moved my ADR to Saturday at noon...guess we'll need to drag out feet until he comes along at 12:30

Just wondering when would be a good time to reserve to see Remi?

Also, what would you suugest as a meal here? No seafood please. :goodvibes

In my experience (both times we have had dinner time ressies), while we are seated a waiter just kindof comes around with a cart with him on it. Not a big production, but it's still cute.

As for food: the tenderloin with potatoes is a good bet. The duck was actually not very good. I would stay away from that. Roasted chicken was pretty good too :)

We saw him at lunch. When we were there last fall we were told that he appeared Mon - Sat, noon to 5. The salmon and ratatouille was not very good. My husband had some type of sandwich and said it was pretty good.

The french onion soup and the creme brulee were fantastic!

I just heared that Remmy is at Les chef de France. Can someone give me info on this, please. Like what times he is there and where I can find him? thanks

Yes, please do tell! I would love to be there when he's brought around, but I've heard conflicting stories on when he's brought out :confused3

We spent the day in Epcot yesterday and ate in France for the 1st time. Got there right around 12pm for a 12:30 ADR and the line was out into the walkway. We were seated not long after I made it to the podium though.

Once seated we were greeted warmly by Francois. He was much friendlier than I expected (after seeing some other greeters/waiters and reading about them here) and told us where he was from. He took our drink orders and food orders right away as we already knew what we wanted. Shortly afterward the kids' food came out as did our appetizers. Either they are very quick in the kitchen or they had a few things ready to go already.

I ordered the Escargot which was very hot and delish! They also brought out the bread and (cold) butter. I used the bread to soak up some of the buttery garlicky goodness left over. Yum!!

Dh ordered the Cheese Plate and shared a bit with me and with our DD (23mo). When our waiter stopped by we asked him to tell us a bit about each cheese which he did. I love trying new cheeses and they were all very good. I can't remember the names but one was a Brie and I know there were 2 different goat cheeses, one of which was very tart. The Gruyere was not one of them this time.

The boys got the kid's chicken/pasta and a hamburger/fries. ODS (7) loved his burger. He even added the assorted greens to it that came on the side. And I was very surprised but YDS (4.5) also ate all of his lunch. He's not a big eater but he ate those chicken strips and he dipped each piece of pasta into the sauce bowl they gave him.

While waiting for our main courses Remy made his way around the room. I was really excited to see him and we had kept it a surprise for the boys. This was the only disappointing part of the meal. He stayed for literally 1 minute if not slightly less. I even took a video which stopped at 30sec. I know he needs to make his way around the entire restaurant but I'd think an extra minute or so wouldn't hurt. I had seen his handler do some stuff and turn him for other patrons but she did nothing for us. Nothing. He came back around at the end of our meal and she completely SKIPPED us when she saw we were still there. I don't get it. Thankfully my boys were fine. My poor dd though kept saying Remy, Remy...where Remy?

So back to the good part of this review- the food! Dh and I both ordered the Gratin de Macaroni (Baked macaroni with cream and gruyere cheese). I was hesitant since I'd heard it was like a Swiss cheese but it was soooo good! It was not piping hot like I'd have wished but only warm. It was still very creamy though and not overcooked or dried out at all. I'd read on here that the portion was huge and it was large but not enough to have to take leftovers home. This was the only food I remembered to take pics of while it was untouched. ;)

We also ordered 2 desserts to be shared between all 5 of us. The Profiteroles and the Apple Crepes. I wasn't blown away by either although the chocolate sauce on the Profiteroles was very good! Dh like the crepes though.

Total came to $97.40 without tip.
