Up at 6.45am. Schedule said we were going to Animal Kingdom for early entry and then onto Blizzard Beach before afternoon tea at the Grand Floridian. Decided to give Blizzard Beach a miss and go to Downtown Disney instead. Had breakfast in the room and headed for the bus stop at 7.30am.
Bus came quickly and we were at Animal Kingdom for it opening at 8am. Headed straight to Kilimanjaro Safari along with everyone else. Had a 15 minute wait and then we were off on safari. This ride is fantastic, saw loads of animals and they were all awake. After the safari I was hungry so we went to get something to eat. I had scrambled eggs and bacon followed by a fruit bowl and chocolate milk. After our second breakfast we left Animal Kingdom (we had only come for the safari) to go to Downtown Disney. We knew we would have to get a bus to a resort and then change onto a bus for Downtown. A bus driver told us the quickest resort to go to would be Animal Kingdom Lodge so we headed there and then changed buses. Had a look round the shops then I got carried away with myself in Once Upon A Toy, I bought Mr Potato Head!!! Who knows why I bought him or what I am ever going to do with him but I had to have him. Filling the box was a real mission, I finished up with 2 boxes and do not know how I managed to squeeze so much in, they were bulging but they closed.
After shopping we went over to Disney Quest to use the internet. Had a beautiful piece of lemon bendt cake and Tricia had a huge piece of cheesecake. Had a look at the DIS and the DIBB and then spent ages on the Big Brother website catching up on what had been going on since I left (sad I know). After 1 ½ hours we left and headed over to the bus stops to get a bus to the Grand Floridian for afternoon tea.
When we arrived at the Grand Floridian I was most impressed with the bus stop. The benches were in rows, I am a neurotic everything in its place kind of person and I just thought it looked so tidy. We were a little early for our PS so we had a look around, it is a beautiful resort, sat beside the beach for 20 minutes and then checked in for our tea. Tea was lovely. I had the Sally Lunn tea and Tricia had the Buckingham Palace tea. The portions werent huge so we were both able to finish everything. We had a window table overlooking the garden. Our server was very prim and proper and tried very hard to hide her disgust when the couple next to us ordered the childrens tea between them. When we were finished we had a look round the Grand Floridian shops and then got the monorail to the Magic Kingdom and the bus back to Port Orleans. I sat outside the room for 10 minutes to write up the trip report notes but it was way to hot so I went for a swim.
After swimming for an hour we got ready and then headed back to the Magic Kingdom for E-night. Once again Tricia had problems getting the finger scanner to recognise her, there was one light that she just could not get out. She managed on her third attempt. Once in we exchanged our tickets for wristbands. E-night was blast. We did Pooh, Peter Pan, Philharmagic and the Haunted Mansion once. Big Thunder Mountain and Splash Mountain twice and Buzz Lightyear 5 times. On our last ride on Buzz the car in front of us was still facing backwards when it arrived at the score board and they had to stop the ride whilst the CMs tried to get the car facing the right direction. One CM lay on the floor and put her legs under the car trying to push a lever down. She managed this and they got the car turned and then put the power back on, we moved about 1cm before the power was put off again and the engineers called. Four engineers arrived and managed to work some magic and we were moving again. We were stopped for almost 10 minutes and the whole time I had Buzz on my right hand side shouting To infinity and beyond I would have liked to have kicked him to infinity and beyond so I couldnt hear him!!! Due to the breakdown of Buzz we were able to see Kiss Goodnight which was a first for us, it was a lovely end to another lovely day. Oh yeah, no rain today.
