Day 3

Wake up call came at 6.30am and it was Mickey. I love to hear him on the phone. Had some cereal in the room and then left. We were going to Clearwater today and are getting picked up at All Star Music at 8.50am. Got on a bus to Epcot at 7.30am and went to the bus stop for the All Stars. There was one other lady waiting for a bus. As we were waiting I pointed out that we would have been quicker getting a taxi but hey you learn from your mistakes don’t you. At 8.10am a bus driver came over and asked us if we were trying to get back to the All Stars. We said yes and he told us to wait a minute and he went and got his bus which was parked elsewhere and he took us to All Star Music and the other lady to the Sports. We got there about 8.30am and I was hungry again so we went to the food court and I got some scrambled eggs and bacon.

A coach arrived at 8.50am and including us about 15 people got on. We were the last pick up so we headed straight to Clearwater. They showed a film on the bus but I can’t remember what it was, I listened to my personal stereo and looked out the window. Tricia watched it and she said it was good. As we arrived in Clearwater the sky was looking very black and then it started to rain and there was some thunder. It had stopped by the time we pulled up outside the Clearwater Hilton. The guide showed us where to meet him at 11.45am, we were going on the Sea Screamer and he would take us over and purchase the tickets. He also told us where to go in the Hilton for lunch (a buffet lunch at the Hilton was included in the price of our tour) and told us about the shops, cafes etc… nearby.

We had a walk along the beach, well part of it, it goes on for miles. It was beautiful, absolutely beautiful. Almost like paradise, fine white sand, clear water that was warm and a lovely black sky. It would have been paradise had the sky been blue.
At 11.35am we went back to the meeting place. The guide arrived at 11.40am and was amazed to discover that everyone was there, I think there were 30 people in all from our coach doing the Sea Screamer. The guide walked us over to the correct place, bought our tickets and then gave them out. As we were boarding the boat the captain took a photo of us which we could buy later if we wished. While we were waiting to leave the sky got really really dark and then it started to rain.

When we had been packing our bags that morning to go to Clearwater I told Tricia I was taking my poncho with me, she found that highly amusing and said there was no way she was wearing a Mickey Mouse poncho in Clearwater. Well, when the boat started it’s engines and we started to move the rain came down in sheets. I put my poncho on while Tricia put a towel over her head. I turned to her and smiling said, “Well, I don’t like to say I told you so but…” After a couple of minutes the thunder and lightning started. I was terrified and we were still heading out of the bay. After 5 minutes of moving very very slowly the captain said we would have to turn back as the lightning was far too dangerous. I have never been so relieved in my life. When we got off the boat we were given tickets to come back again at 2pm and all being well we would go out then.

We walked back over to the Hilton, along with everyone else on our tour to go for lunch. The lady at the restaurant told us we weren’t due for lunch until after 1pm as we were out on the Sea Screamer. She was told how the boat had come back due to the weather. Apparently the restaurant was very busy so she moved us into the bar area as we were blocking the entrance. After a 15 minute wait we got in. There wasn’t much of a choice but what we did eat was nice apart from Tricia’s chicken. It was very pink and didn’t look or taste cooked.

After lunch the rain had stopped and the sky was grey, not black. We went back over to the Sea Screamer and got on at 1.45pm. We went out at 1.55pm. This was a great ride and we got to see lots of dolphins jumping in the wake of our boat. Really enjoyed this experience and would highly recommend it. When we got off the boat we went over to the beach. There was still no sign of the sun but it was still warm. I went for a swim and was surprised to find the water so warm, it was like bath water temperature. Remembered how much I dislike the taste of salt water when I swallowed half the sea. Stayed on the beach until 4.30pm, it was really relaxing and got on the bus for the journey back to Orlando at 5pm. The guide gave us a quiz on the way back. He said it would be hard and he wasn’t kidding either. We got a pathetic 8 out of 15. The winning team got 14 and won 3 postcards. On the way back we drove through a horrendous thunder storm, the fork lightning was huge!!! Got dropped off at All Star Music about 6.45pm and jumped on the first bus that came, it was for MGM. When we got to MGM we swapped for a port Orleans bus. It was still raining when we got back.

Got showered and changed and left resort at 8.20pm to go Magic Kingdom for E-night. It had stopped raining. It was on from 10pm to 1pm. When we arrived we grabbed some food and ate whilst watching Spectro Magic from Frontierland then we headed to Fantasy Land where we watched the fireworks. They weren’t as spectacular here. When you were looking at the castle some of the fireworks were behind you so there were lots of head spins to see everything.

Fireworks over we were first onto Winnie the Pooh. Tricia saw Mr Toad handing over the deeds to Owl, I missed so we went on again so she could show me. Next up was Mickey’s Philharmagic which we have never seen. It was wonderful, the smell of the candy and apple pie made my mouth water. Brilliant 3D show, another must see. Next up we went on Peter Pan and then Haunted Mansion.

After that we went over to the mountains. Did Thunder first and then Splash. Love them both but Splash is my absolute favourite. After the mountains we went over to Tomorrowland and rode Buzz 4 times. The third time we went on Buzz we were the only people in the queue area, brilliant I thought and asked Tricia to take some photo’s. She hadn’t brought the camera!!! The whole park was really quiet. Don’t know if the rain had put people off.

After Buzz we went back to Frontierland. Rode Thunder again and then onto Splash again. We got the front seats and there were two others in our log. Ride was as fantastic as ever. However when we got off CM Audrey asked us and the two others if we could stand aside for a minute, she also asked the four in the log behind us. Once she has everyone gathered she says she needs to teach us about safety and how it is dangerous to stand during the ride and switch rows. Tricia tells her that has nothing to do with us and starts to walk away. CM Audrey bellows, “Come back here now!” Tricia comes back and tells her we were not standing on the ride (the guy behind me did) and CM Audrey states that she has photographic evidence. Had she checked it she would have got the correct people. We left Splash Mountain and went straight to Guest Services to complain.

CM Lindsey was very nice. She listened to our complaint and asked if we had got the CM’s name, we told her it was Audrey. She offered to get us a manager from Splash Mountain but said it may take a while seeing as it was now 12.45am. We said it was okay we just wanted our complaint to be known. Lindsey said Audrey had probably assumed that the other two in our log were with us but she should have checked. She gave us an e-mail address to put our complaint in writing (we have sent an e-mail twice and still haven’t had a reply) and three fast passes to be used at anytime within the Magic Kingdom. She also said she would phone over to Splash Mountain to pass on our complaint.
Left Magic Kingdom at 12.55am on a sour note. What had been a fantastic day had been blighted by the patronising way that CM spoke to us, the more we thought about it the angrier we became. We both work with the public and if we spoke to anyone the way Audrey did we would be fired on the spot.

When we got back to the room we organised wake up call as we are going shopping tomorrow! Yippee!!! Schedule also states that we are going to Epcot.

Sounds like a fantastic day (apart from Audrey). I love the sea water at Clearwater (to swim in, not drink ;) )

The Sea-Screamer sounds good fun - did you book it as a day tour package?
Buzz 4 times in a row - my 2 DS idea of heaven!! Pity Audrey spoiled a good day for you!
