Part 2 - The rest of the Journey and day 1 - Fri July 31st
We woke up reasonably early so all had a drink and sent DH to see if Burger King next door had bacon butties but they were still closed and we didnt fancy a full breakfast in the hotel so packed our bag and headed to the tunnel. We managed to get a slightly earlier crossing (paid for by Mr Tesco). We had about an hour to wait so headed into the terminal in search of food. We had just collected it when they called our letter and by the time we were finishing eating it was the last call so we dashed to the car and before we knew it we were on our way through the tunnel.
Once again the process was very smooth and easy and the drive to DLP was as well. When we saw the airport we knew we would start to see signs to DLP so started seeing who would spot the first one - what a surprise it was DD (!!!!!!!!)
We were pulling into NPB about 2.00 but for some unknown reason they werent opening the barrier. There was a taxi in front of us and the driver had got out to make sure the security people had seen but they still didnt open it. We must have been waiting nearly 10 minutes before they opened it - odd
We parked the car, grabbed the bags and went to check in. We had upgraded the previous week to Admirals Floor and so were looking forward to a nice quiet check in. Oops no. There were 3 other families waiting at Admirals Floor check in and one person serving whereas there were 4 people serving at the normal desk and no queue. Eventually they did move 2 other groups over to that check in desk but not quite as easy as we hoped it would be.
Finally our turn to check in. If you've read my pre TR (and if not why not?!!!!) you'll know that Joel was a last minute addition and we'd been told to wait til we arrived to book him in so were hoping it would all go smoothly and wouldnt cost a fortune to add him on. Fortunately it was fine. We explained we'd phoned up and been told to do it when we arrived. We only had to pay local taxes for him - the grand amount of E1.10 per night so as he'd travelled free with us and we had a spare ticket for him it only cost us E5.50 to take him with us (plus food of course). They changed the Easy Pass to show the correct number of people and printed an extra one as well.
Our room was ready and they explained the new benefits of Admirals Floor rooms. We found our room on floor 6 and discovered it even had the bunk beds we had requested.
We quickly unpacked and admired the room then decided to head downstairs to take advantage of the perks and grab a free drink. As well as drinks (hot ones, fruit juice, cans) there were sweets and marshmallows as well and on that occasion chocolates as well.
