The Reds and Blues find either side intolerable.

I heard an interesting poll on Imus/MSNBC this morning. That only 4% of the population can accept and tolerate the thought that either candidate could win. Supporters of President Bush found it almost intolerable that Kerry could be president and Kerry supporters find Bush's presidency intolerable. Any thoughts on that?

If Kerry would have won I would have respected the fact that our democracy chose him to be our President.

If Kerry had won I would have congratulated him and his supporters and wished him well and then looked towards the future.

I voted for Bush.

I agree with the poll!:p

This doesn't surprise me, assuming people answered honestly.

I consider myself part of the 4%, BTW. :)

I will respect whichever candidate that officially wins. I might be so mixed on my political views that I see both good and bad in both of them. Doesn't mean that I will always agree and like what they do, but would never bash nor find the other candidate intolerable. Either way I will say the same prayer for the President and hope for the best :)

Oh yeah, I have thoughts.

Many human beings in this country think it's their way or the highway.

It's that "Me" mentality.

And that's the bottom line.

We are a competitive nation, we want to be right so bad, that we cannot accept people telling us we are wrong.

That's why the division in this country is getting worse.

Of course only those that walk the middle of the road will agree with me.

ETA, I pray for the wisdom of our leader regardless. And I didn't vote for him.

I don't think I would have much heartburn with John Kerry if he wins. Kerry would have to change to be effective. He would have to work with a Republican Senate and Congress. If he could not work with them he would be out in four years. The Democratic Party now has two years to re-look at itself, and make some changes. Their leader in the Senate could not even get re-elected.

I think we saw that on this very board over the past couple of months! I agree with it.

Thoughts of Kerry becoming President scared the beejeezus out of me, just as Bush winning scared the beejeezus out of Kerry supporters. It has been an incredible campaign.

I wouldn't have been happy if Kerry had won, but I would have accepted it, supported him as my President and started working on the next election.

Anyone around during the Reagan years knows that this mindset isn't new. If people think that the names "Rumsfeld" and "Ashcroft" get the Left's blood pressure up, I can offer up the all-time winner in that department: "Watts".

And anyone that was around before that knows that the conservatives suffered defeat after defeat, year after year, and never reacted as badly as the left has done since the 2000 election. Instead, they went back to the drawing board, reinvented the party and figured out how to win.

I agree with the poll also, and so when I saw your post on another thread, I understand perfectly.
