I was thinking about asking my wife for one of these for Christmas. I "think" I would love it, but don't want to get another kitchen item that will sit on the shelf in the garage. Heaven knows that I have plenty of those - but most of them were gifts to me.

What do you make in yours?

We have a really small one that is used as a scented oil warmer...

I have a smaller one that I use to make baked potatoes in. It holds about 3. It's nice to use in the summer if you don't want to heat up your oven, but you want baked potatoes. It does take about 8 hours though, so you need to plan ahead.

Also, I make chicken sandwiches in it as well. I put about 3 - 4 frozen chicken breasts in it for 4 hours. Then I drain it, use a fork to shred the meat, which will be nice & tender. Add cream of chicken soup, heat & stir for as long as you need to before you're ready to eat. It's yummy! and easy.

Mine little one only gets used a few times a year right around the holidays to keep my spinach artichoke dip warm. I use my big crock pot at least 3 times a month, year round.

we have a really small crockpot that came with my big one. I use it to keep chili con queso warm if we are having mexican food.

That sounds excellent. And I eat TONS of those frozen chicken breasts. I buy one of those 6 pound bags at Costco almost every week.

How small are you talking? I have one that holds about 16 oz of whatever. I use it when we have parties for keeping dip warm (cheese dip usually). I rarely use my large crock pot so I probably use my little one more.

I made cocktail wieners in mine yesterday. It held 2 packs of smokies which was perfect. I also make chicken breast in it.

The one thing I DON'T like about it is no temperature control.

Do you use your large one often? I probably use the full sized on 15 - 20x a year.
You beat me by a mile. I used mine this weekend to make pot roast. YUM!! But it's the first I've used it in about 3 years. :lmao:

I have a small one that I use several times a year. I use it for warm dips and for hot fudge when we have make your own sundae parties. The only thing that I will caution you on is that most of the small ones don't have a temp. control so you have to check your food every once in a while.

I have 3 of the small ones

Cocktail wienies
meatballs
cheese dip
crab dip
hot spinach/artichoke dip
cheese, or chocolate fondue
warm apple cider
chocolate (when making homemade chocolate candy). Easy to mix nuts, peanut butter, etc.

If you do get one, be aware that they get really hot.

That could be an issue... I never knew that.

I just got one a few weeks ago mainly to use as a potpourri crock. It's a Rival, and a one quart, if I'm not mistaken. I had an old Rival potpourri pot that I loved. A friend of mine gave it to me at least 15 years ago, and it finally bit the dust. I would fill it with water, then add cinnamon sticks, cloves, star of anise, cinnamon, and fragrance oils to it. The house smelled great all the time! I was so sad when it died.

I looked and looked and couldn't find another one anywhere, even on ebay. Ebay had a few, but with no lids, and without a lid, I didn't want it. I was so happy when I found the one quart crock pot at Target. The only problem is that it gets waaayyyy hotter than the original potpourri pot. I'm constantly having to add water to it, and it makes me nervous because the outside of the pot is hot also.

Mine does have temp controls, low and high, but even the low is HOT! I decided I could no longer use it as a potpourri pot and figured that it was now useless, because what else can you use a one quart crock pot for. No problem, I was only out $10. Then I read this thread, and WOW!!!, so many uses for this little crock pot. I guess I'm really unimaginative, because I would have never thought to use it for dips, and things like that. Thank you all very much for such great suggestions!:)

We fill ours with water and use it to keep bottles of spiced wine warm on the holidays.

I have a small crock pot. I've made pulled barbecue pork in it, just cut the meat and all in half. I've also melted chocolate in it. :goodvibes

I just bought one on black friday at walmart for $4.. dont know what I'm gonna make in it but it was a deal I couldn't pass up.
