Just wondered if anybody was watching this show and what they think of it. If you are a practicing Catholic, does it offend you? I noticed they are rerunning the pilot episode tonight. I actually think the gay son (sorry, I can't remember all the characters' names) is the least interesting one of the bunch. I find the parents and older and younger siblings to be pretty funny. I just haven't heard too much about the show and if the ratings are high enough to warrant a second season. Thanks for any input!

I'm not Catholic but I do watch the show.My DH family is Catholic tho so I imagine I get a bigger kick out of it than they would . I think it's entertaining, (the sassy daughter is my favorite kid). I will say as a Chicagoan, they way they are portraying living in Chicago is off target. The Dad would be under a lot more stress for starters, being a Chicago cop. Martha Plimpton is a great actress and loved her on Raising Hope, I hope it gets renewed.

I've seen several episodes. I'm not technically Catholic myself, but most of DH's family is, so I get the jokes. I'm not really sure what I think of the show. Sometimes I really like it... sometimes I wonder why. But in general, I'm enjoying the fact that it doesn't take itself too seriously.

I like her too! I remember her from the one season sitcom The New Normal which I loved.

I love Martha Plimpton and Jay Ferguson (STAN RIZZO forever, god I miss Mad Men) but keep forgetting this show is on. I watched the parade episode and laughed out loud a couple of times, which is usually enough for me to keep watching...but for whatever reason it keeps slipping off my radar.

I'm not Catholic, but all my friends were growing up. I get the jokes and they make me laugh. ;) I keep forgetting this show is on to watch again.

DH and I enjoy this show and we love the daughter we well. I was raised Catholic, but I'm not practicing anymore and my son is gay in real life... so I relate that way too :) That parade episode was great and I'd love a piece of gay cake right now!

I'm actually shocked that there isn't a huge group of people trying to get this knocked off the air. I hope there is a season 2. Love Martha Plimpton!

I've watched a couple of episodes. I grew up Catholic, but nothing they have done offends me in the slightest.

What does bug me is just how bad the show is. The characters are one-dimensional and the plots are predictable. I'm not planning on watching it if I can avoid it. Unfortunately, DD seems to like it.

Martha Plimpton is just a horrible actress. I can't stand her. If they replaced her and the daughter, I could probably actually like the show.

We love it here. The daughter is really funny.

I'm Catholic and don't find it offensive. If you can't laugh at yourself...

Both our Ddsil are Catholics, and are raising our 3 Dgrands in their faith. We are Anglican, and raised our 2 sons in our faith. When we use to get together as families (before The Real O'Neal's) the expression "It's a "Catholic" thing" was somewhat lost on me; but now I can appreciate, enjoy, and share their humour.

As a practicing Catholic I really enjoy Catholic humor.....but this show? Nope. Not gonna waste my time. I tried. I'm more of a Jim Gaffigan type of Catholic humor I guess.

It will pass as entertainment but I don't know how long they can carry on the "getting divorced but not divorced but living in the same house" thing.

Jim Gaffigan's show is great!

When big groups start protesting and trying to get shows off that is when I know its a show I would like. The biggest show like that was Married with Children- I had never heard of it until that one woman tried to get it taken off the air, I figured I should watch and see what the big deal was and I LOVED the show from that point on!
