The Race Card?

ITA.

Racism does still exist, and probably will always exist. It has changed, and America should be proud. Things have changed from 40-50 years ago, and we need to acknowledge it.

I respect Rev. Jackson and to the PP who called him a hustler, it's just plain wrong. Maybe you need to see the path Jackson has walked in his lifetime. He lived through segregation, and he was instrument of change towards equality. Look at his life and all that he has gone through. I can't imagine what it felt like to be treated the way he was in the past, to live in such fear because of the color of his skin.

The OP's article points out that there are still outbursts of racism occuring, and we shouldn't sweep it under the carpet. Keep it in the forefront, and keep a dialog open.

Sexism exists, it needs to be discussed and in the forefront to.

Our country has come along way in terms of equality, let's keep the momentum rolling forward.

Very well said. We have come a very long way...and we need to keep going forward. :thumbsup2

Glossing over issues (whether it be racism, sexism, or discrimination against any group in general) does nothing to fix or heal. It ignores the reality of the situation. We can learn from our past and present mistakes...and continue to develop as a united nation.

Huh, I've seen coverage of the Prop 8 protests on CNN and in the NYTimes at least every other day since the election.

But I've missed the part where gay protesters burnt crosses on people's lawns and advocated assassinating the leaders of the anti-gay rights movement.

Not at all.

But, here are just a few examples of what gay activists are doing currently. I think it is wrong irregardless of what I think about Proposition 8 (or it's equivalent in other states).

$100 donation and the wolves come for her......shameful if you ask me. A clear case of intimidation.

my favorite quote from this article
"My goal was to make it socially unacceptable to give huge amounts of money to take away the rights of one particular group, a minority group," says Fred Karger, a retired political consultant and founder of Californians Against Hate. "I wanted to make the public aware of who these people are and how much they're giving, and then they could make a decision as to whether or not they want to patronize their businesses."

a $100 donation from the first linked article is not huge.......a chill wind blows.......

There are many articles like this.

no direct evidence linking it to gay groups......but given the timing.....should we just assume it is Mike Huckabee and move along? ;)

Apparently, racist language is not simply the province of us on the right...........oh this world we live in..... Note, I did not link to the blogs mentioned in the article because of the foul language. Feel free to look them up if you like. I had my fill.

Keep in mind I found the above articles just by doing a simple boolean search.......just like this fella who wrote the article on racism referenced in the OP. Do I think based on this quick search that all LGBT are activist and looking for payback from those who didn't vote their way.

No. Just the few, the loud, the annoying.

Just saying the article linked in OP was a shoddy, unresearched and amateur article......

Just like my post (cept I didn't get paid).

:)

Racism still exists and it's not just one sided or with 1 race. There exists racism between many different races and it goes both ways.

AND there are always going to be stupid people who say horrible things or do stupid things. I'm sure that the situation is heightened because of the race issue (and it's wrong to do things like burning crosses, and saying abominable threats), however countless and very nasty things have been said about Bush, too. People just don't care because so many agree the sentiment, so it doesn't warrant an article.

Halo?

All joking aside, does it matter if it racist or not? It is wrong, period. Simply bringing race into is exactly what these people want. If we stopped focusing on the race part of an act or a person (both sides), we would be a lot better off because these people wouldn't get the time of day.

THANK YOU! I am so tired of the media going on and on about him being black. They make it sound like this is 1950 or whenever that stupid crap went on and will he or won't he be able to do the job because he's black. This is 2008, why is this such a big deal? The media focuses on his race more than his plans for our country. We all know he's black, by going on and on about it just feeds the close minded trash that are convinced the country is going to hell in a handbasket or they are getting a get out of every responsibility free card because of his race. I could care less if he's white, black, or purple with yellow spots. Fix our country.

The article posted here includes anecdotal evidence of racist incidents, as in "a teacher said she heard…" and "she said a boy on the school bus told her…," and allegations of "hundreds" of nebulous incidents reported by race-based groups who exist solely to air grievances about "racist America." It is a thinly veiled (and thinly sourced) collection of incidents, for which there is little proof other than hearsay and rumor, designed to counter the HUGE leap in racial progress Barack Obama's election represents. A lot of people make a lot of money and get a lot of attention by trading in the idea of widespread, systemic racism in America. Barack Obama's election undermines them in far-reaching and even devastating ways. His election revealed the fraud of race hustlers like Jesse Jackson — that this is a fundamentally racist country. Now, we have a black president, so the media is more than willing to publish stories that wouldn't make it past a high school journalism teacher to try to keep those folks in business.

Barack Obama's election has, in fact, significantly altered racial perceptions in this country. No longer can the likes of Jackson cry and bemoan "institutional" racism, because our largest institution — the United States government — has as its president a black man. Moreover, he is the least experienced, least qualified candidate we've elected in decades, but Americans did so largely to earn, once and for all, redemption for America's racist past. The key term there, though, is "past." Obama's election illustrates that it is indeed America's past — not her present — and that signals an end to the gravy train that has been racial grievance mongering for the past 30 years. Many voters who pulled the lever for the deeply inexperienced Obama did so as a bargain with him — that they will no longer be shamed by a past that the vast majority of them played no role in whatsoever. They will not take kindly to being told that racial progress in America is status quo, despite Obama's election. The know differently.

A new day is dawning, indeed, and like all sudden and unexpected social movements, it will have some unintended consequences. Not the least of these is that America's days of self-flagellation and guilt are behind her, and that's going to put a lot of people out of business. They won't go quietly, but they will have to go. They are no longer relevant.

WOW:sad2: :sad2: :sad2:
You really need to let go of that anger.

I'm sure a race based group made up this story as well.:snooty:
