The Punisher

John Travolta is going to co-star in a new movie to be filmed right here in the Tampa Bay area! It's called "The Punisher" and he will play Howard Saint, an upstanding community leader hiding a criminal past. When Saint's son is murdered, his violent, vengeful acgts attract the attention of The Punisher (played by Thomas Jane), a.k.a. Frank Castle, a former Special Operations soldier and FBI agent turned vigilante after his own family was slain by mobsters.

John Travolta is a frequent Tampa Bay area visitor because of his Church of Scientology membership in Clearwater. Last year he purchased a $2.5 million home in this area equipped with an airplane runway and hangar. He is a licensed pilot and owns a Boeing 707.

I guess we'll be on the lookout for star sightings!!!

Having a movie filmed in your hometown is very cool. I was an "extra" in The Hunted with Tommy Lee Jones and Benicio Del Toro. I was just a random guy milling around a park while Tommy Lee was tracking Benicio. Didn't meet either guy, but saw them up close. I thought they'd be bigger.

And, sadly, you can't see my mug in the movie.

A good friend of ours is the executive producer of this. He was talking about the movie when he came to visit us a few weeks ago. It sounds like it is going to be very good! All of his films are, though. I know he's particularly excited about this one. Can't wait to see it! I think he said it's scheduled to be released summer 2004.

They also filmed "Cocoon" here many years ago.

And, they also recently (1-2 yrs ago) filmed part of "Ocean's Eleven" -- the part where they're at the racetrack. Friends of ours are spectators in the grandstand. You can't seen them either, but in their scene, Brad Pitt is featured, so who's going to be looking for "Joe & Gloria"??????

For those that may not know, "Cop and a Half" was also filmed around Tampa.

I certainly hope this one is better than the first Punisher movie.


BTW, The Punisher is a Marvel Comics character. He's similar to Wolverine (no powers though).
