So it begins...the pre trip report to the trip report that I had never planned on doing, but then I became inspired and so now I'm doing one.

The Cast:

Me-SafetyPinndSally or Brandie. I am 20 years old and currently going to culinary school and I some day wish to work for Disney Resorts. I have been married to DH for almost a year and I am Disney and planning obsessed, while he doesn't really care what we do. I am also the reason we are going on this trip because it will be for my 21st birthday and our one year anniversary.

DH- or Scott. He is at the ripe old age of 24 and will be turing 25 in just a few weeks. He is not as big of a Disney person as I am, but he liked our first visit well enough and so I think he's excited.

We have one "child" who is black, walks on all fours and suffers from kitty asthma. Alex...our cat.

They are very close and originally he was my cat and then Scott moved in and the bonding began. I really don't exist in Alex's little kitty world.

The Trip:

We will be going from February 4th to February 10th and we will be staying at Pop Century in a perferred room. This is our first time staying at a value (Previouly stayed at the Poly) and so I am pretty excited, not only because it's a resort I've never been too, but also because we are saving a lot of money. :woohoo: We currently live in Northern Virginia, but we're looking to move down to FL sometime in January, but either way we plan on driving because air fare is just not worth it. We are also doing the dining plan, something I have never done but am, of course, really excited about.

There will be many pictures, maybe not so much in this pre trip report, but in the actual trip report. Also because I got to culinary school...there will be lots of food porn and I'm probably not going to do a Dining Review, so that will be included.

Uh, yeah that's about all for now and hopefully I'll have some stuff tomorrow.

Have a fabulous trip!

I spent my 21st birthday at WDW too!! Was extremely memorable! :rolleyes1 Had my 1st "legal" drink at DHS.... ((MGM at the time)) :woohoo:

Okay, so this morning I got up and had planned to clean out my car, since that's what we're traveling in and also because DH has really junked it up. :headache: I love my little '04 Toyota Rav-4 Sport, it gets great gas mileage and it's so comfy to drive and ride in.

Anyways, I thought to myself, "Self, this would be great to put into your PTR since this is the car you will be taking and you really don't have much else to post about right now."

So after I cleaned, which took me about 20 minutes, I snapped some pictures because I'm sure everyone wants to see the inside of my car. :rotfl:

The front of my car and please excuse the pool in the background.

The side, I actually didn't like the color of my car at first, but after 5 years I love it more than ever.

008.jpg

Yes, I still have my tassle, even though I graduated back in '07. Also notice the air freshener...it's Yankee Candle and smells like cupcakes :cloud9:

007.jpg

My "cockpit", I'll be doing most of the driving since DH is lazy and all.

006.jpg

The back where our stuff will be going...please excuse the scuba stuff, we just got back from the beach.

005.jpg

The back seat, with CD cases and my school knife kit that I left back there for some reason.

The front, where I will be driving and DH will be snoozing.

Well there she is...our ride to WDW. DH still has to take it to get it vaccumed and what not, but that can wait. It will probably get junked up before our trip, but there was a lot of stuff in there that needed to be thrown out...things growing and what not.

Yeah, so there you go and hopefully I'll have more later or tomorrow.

Hello fellow Virginian! What fun way to spend your 21rst b-day, I'm jealous! That drive is a long one, I've made it many times!! Can't wait to read more!

Hello! I was very passionate about having my birthday down there, even though DH thought it was a little silly. It is a very long drive, but we actually might be moving to Tampa before our trip, so it might actually be pretty short.

Have a fabulous trip!

Haha, I think my first legal drink is going to be a Lapu Lapu at the Poly because we're going to 'Ohana the night of my Birthday. I can remember one year when my family went and we went to Universal's Mardi Gras and then went to Epcot. My Cousin, who had just turned 21 got sooooo plastered, but I don't plan on getting too crazy.

List Of Things For Me To Take

  • Enough outfits for six days
  • Make-up and hair accessories
  • Hair dryer and flat-iron
  • Sun block
  • Sandals and one pair of sneakers
  • Bag for dirty clothes
  • Portable DVD Player
  • Disney DVDs
  • Books, lots of books
  • Shampoo, conditioner, and bath soap
  • 24 case of bottled water
  • Cooler
  • Bathing Suit
  • Towels
  • Extra pillow

The most important thing on that list is...books! I can't live without my books and I can't really decide which ones I want to bring a long with us.

Also I was thinking of having a Trip Mascot, so if anyone has any ideas as to what books I should bring and what our mascot should be, feel free to let me know.

Things I Must Pack For DH Because He'll Forget

  • Enough clothes for six days
  • Sneakers and sandals
  • Extra pair of glasses
  • Camera and extra battery
  • Razor
  • Books and DS for the car ride
  • Money, driver's liscence and wallet...it's happened before

There's probably more, but it's early and I can't think right now. Although I do know that if I don't pack for DH...it will either 1) Never get done until the last minute when I finally do it. or 2) He'll forget something, like his wallet, or something else important and our trip will be marred by my frustration for him.

I read through & saw the photo of your apt building and HAD to say "hi"!

I used to live in VA too and I actually lived in an apt that looked EXACTLY like that one when I was in college!!! Me and 4 roommates lived on the 2nd floor of an apt like that in Radford, VA.

Coincidentally, we're all taking a trip to WDW in Sept...so I guess it's just the time for people who live in VA to come down to FL!

Hope you have a great trip! I now live in the Tampa area - Sarasota, it's about 45 min. south - and I love it...hello annual pass! :)

Haha, don't all apartments in VA look the same? Actually we were thinking of moving down to Tampa sometime soon.

Arrival Day

So, I have us leaving the house at around 2:30 am, because it takes us about 12 hours to get down to Disney. I will be driving the first leg while DH sleeps and then right around South of the Border (which is our halfway mark) we will be switching over so that I can sleep and not be cranky for when we arrive. I'm not the type of person who is against stopping, but I would rather drive straight through as much as we can, only stopping for gas or to use a bathroom and getting food while we are doing either one.

Once we arrive at Pop, we'll check in and go to the room if it is ready, if not then we'll head to DTD and eat at either Earl of Sandwich or WGP Express. Do some shopping, we always get a Christmas ornament for the year and so we'll probably pick that up and then just hang out and see the sights. We might do some resort hopping, since we didn't get to go and check out some of the Moderates the last time and I would like to maybe stay in one the next time we vacation.

The ending to our night will be to get some dessert from Capt. Cooks at the Poly and to find a place on their beach, watch Wishes and the EWP and then head back to Pop and either swim or go to bed

We won't have park tickets or be on the Dining Plan on our arrival day, but that's okay because I would rather relax for the rest of the day instead of trying to rush to a park and then walk all over the place.

ADR's I Plan To Make

Day One: Ohana for my Birthday Dinner
Day Two: Biergarten for DH because he loves German food
Day Three: 1900 Park Fare, one of our only Character meals
Day Four: Whispering Canyon Cafe
Day Five: The Wave, our last night

Notice how all of our ADR's are around resorts in the Magic Kingdom area...that's because I love Wishes and would like to view it as much as possible. Also all of these places appealed to DH's and mine tastes and likes.

I can make ADR's after Oct. 27th, so I'll probably make them either the next day or the day after that.

I will be driving the first leg while DH sleeps and then right around South of the Border (which is our halfway mark)

Isn't that funny how South of the Border is THE halfway mark if you're coming to FL from VA? I remember stopping there on the way to WDW as a kid...I also remember being shocked that I had to pay to use the restroom there one time:eek:...I was about 10, but that concept was just weird to me.

Also, I love your ADRS!! Have you eaten at those places before? O'hana is one hard ADR to get these days so make sure you're up at the crack of dawn to get that one :) I'm visiting the Wave on my trip in Sept, so I'll let you know how it goes!

I know and DH HAS to stop there or else it's just not the same.

Thanks for letting me know about Ohana and I'll be sure to make that one first before anything else. I really spent a lot of time thinking up places to eat because I go to culinary school and can be picky. I probably spent about a week just looking at all the menus online to decide where we were going. But yeah, please let me know how The Wave is when you get back because I have never been there and am curious.

Oh and if I can't get Ohana, then I'm going for Kona Cafe...I HAVE to be at the Poly at least once on our trip since it's my favorite resort. :lovestruc

Day One

I will be expecting a wake up call around 7:45, since it takes me the lonest to get ready. We only did rope drop once and I would like to try it more this vacation, but if it happens then great and if not then ohwell.

Today is our Magic Kingdom day and MY Birthday...so anything I say goes. ;)
If we don't breakfast at the resort (DH is not a big eater in the morning) then we will probably get a snack at Main Street Bakery. We'll head over towards Splash first, get fast passes and then head on to BTMR. Ride rides until either we get hungry for luch or our fps are up for Splash. Lunch and maybe catch teh 3 o'clock parade, but other than that we'll just be riding rides, meeting characters and taking in the scenery until dinner ressies at Ohana.

After dinner, make back over to MK for Spectro and Wishes (I love them both so much) and then stay until closing. Probably head back to the hotel or to DTD and hang out, maybe swim or something.

I don't really hardcore plan our trips because DH is very laid back and I am...not as laid back and so sometimes if I push too much we argue and I don't want to do that.

I'm trying to come up with a play list of songs to listen to while we are driving down to FL and this is what I have so far:

When You Wish Upon A Star
A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes
Part of Your World
Beauty and the Beast
I Won't Say I'm In Love
Bella
WISHES
Spectromagic

They don't all have to be Disney songs, really I'm just looking for good songs to listen and sing along to while driving so I can stay alert. :surfweb:

What birthday perk are you going to use? The free entry or the birthday fun card?

I really like these songs for a disney soundtrack -

Soarin' soundtrack (available on the cd 4 Parks One World)
Under the Sea
Be Our Guest
I just can't wait to be king
There's a great big beautiful tomorrow
That's how you know (from Enchanted)

Are they still doing that in 2010? If so then probably the card since I can use that more to my advantage.

Those are great songs, I'll add them to my Ipod.
