Our last full day at WDW!
We were up at 8am and at MK for rope drop at 9 it is fantastic to only have a 10 minute walk to the happiest place on earth! We rode Peter Pan, Splash, Big Thunder, Pirates, Buzz Lightyear (x2), Laughter Floor, Splash again, Country Bear Jamboree and the brilliant Mickeys Philharmagic. I remember DH riding Buzz when it first came out and loving it I just dont know where Im aiming those little red laser dots and the scores I get are so inconsistent. Inevitably my partner also starts turning the ride vehicle just as Im about to aim for the big points (which is also why I get rubbish scores!!). There was no wait at all for this ride and I think that since TSM is SO much better, that this ride is a bit disappointing now.
After lunch at Columbia Harbour House (Tuna sandwich and crisps), we left MK and took the boat over to Wilderness Lodge for a nosey around. I didnt realise how close it is to MK and BLT! What a beautiful resort! We were really struck with it and would love to stay here at some point.
After our customary lunch time rest we went to EPCOT in the late afternoon.
Food and Wine opened today and there were lots of people. We tasted food from Mexico, Poland and China I love trying these sample size foods! We wandered round World Showcase, watched the Chinese acrobats and listened to the British Invasion and had a bop which was great.
I decided to have some Cheddar Cheese soup and a beer from the stand in Canada. The CM asked me for my ID to be able to serve me alcohol. I actually thought he was joking at first I wasnt sure whether to be flattered as at 48, it has been about 30 years since I was asked this question - but he was being deadly serious! I had carried round my driving licence most of the trip (as we had been asked to prove that we were DVC members to get a discount on some shopping), but as luck would have it, I didnt have it with me today and they wouldnt serve me a beer oh, the humiliation!!
I have been to WDW 7 times over the last 15 years and had been having a few beers and cocktails all this holiday and I have NEVER been asked for ID. I went to guest relations and asked if they had a policy about ID and serving alcohol and the CM said that everyone should always be asked for ID before being served. He also said that I should always carry round ID in case I was in an accident well, I had my key to the world card and my DVC member card with me so Im sure if I keeled over someone should be able to figure out who I was! I was left feeling a bit miffed that WDW obviously has a policy which is not being adhered to consistently and whilst I know that I am in a different country where different rules might apply, I thought the point of ID was to prove youre over 21 and folks, you can judge for yourselves from my trip pictures I think I can safely say I fulfil that criteria!! Oh well the moral of the story is that I need to remember take my ID with me in future if I want to enjoy a tipple!!
We spent the final night of our trip in the usual traditional way of watching Illuminations. I absolutely love this show. Its been running 10 years now and I dread the day that Disney announces it will be replaced!
We made a quick getaway and just beat the crowds to the monorail for the trip back. At BLT we sadly began packing our cases and I went to the front desk to settle our bill in cash. As usual, we slept well.
