Going Home
Well we are up and ready this morning and the car is loaded up ready for the journey to the airport. We take the girls to Downtown Disney as they have some money burning a hole in their pockets. They purchase various items in the world of Disney and their final bill is around $400. They have $50 each left of Disney dollars which they will take next year.
We head to Sandford and the I4 is very busy. We cant believe how slow its going and it looks like we will arrive there around 3pm for our 6.30pm flight. We arrive and the car is checked and the luggage is loaded onto 2 trolleys. We have the lounge booked and are looking forward to dumping the bags, having food and chilling at the lounge.
NO,NO,NO!!! Doesn't quite work that way, lol. We arrive at the check in desk and proceed to load up the luggage. We have 3 cases and one very large holdall (bought in a shop and DH warned it was too big!!) The cases go through and the holdall is last to go!! "Its too heavy the girl informs us" MMmmm well what can we do? I ask if there is anywhere to purchase a bag whilst glowering at DH! (all his fault). I am told no and could i perhaps fit some in the hand luggage. I'm muttering something to DH about 40 pairs of shoes whilst trying to cram some things in the hand luggage. DH helps ( he knows hes in trouble) and the bag is still to heavy. It is then decided that they need to retrieve the bags that have already gone through. The bags are found but a label is lost and it takes us an hour to get through check in. Stress over!!! Bags are gone!!
We head for departures and you know the drill. Shoes off, laptops, cameras, coins etc etc in the trays. We all comply (well i thought we did). DH goes through and the alarm sounds. He is hauled back and asked what he is carrying. Nothing he exclaims!! I am really mad now!! Eventually he produces coins and chewing gum in silver wrapper from his back pocket!! Men!!! We are all through, Hooray!!
Walking up the corridor DH is stopped and asked for a handluggage search. The officer opens the bag and DH has only put (from the bag fiasco at check in) liquid in!! My bag is then searched too and we are eventually clear to go. It is a quick bite to eat and there is no time to make the lounge.
I wander out to the sun terrace for the last of the Florida sun and within minutes our flight is being called. Heading in i am going to cry. I feel very emotional and so sad that its over. We board the plane and head for our seats in row 29. Wait!! There are people sitting in them, lol.
It is family and i politely point out that they are sitting in our seats. The lady suggests we find others as there is only 180 people on this flight. I tell her that we have prebooked and paid for these seats so we will have them. She has the cheek to ask to see my boarding stubs and they quickly rearrange themselves huffing that they cant sit together!
It is a long flight home and none of us sleep except for Rebecca who has an odd 40 winks. The family repay us for the seats as one of the men fills the aisles with 'wind' the whole flight. The smell is disgusting and Chelsea is to be frequently exclaiming her disgust at the putrid odour! Eventually the seatbelt lights come on and we are told we will be landing. On decent Rebecca decides she needs the toilet and screams for the whole of the way down!! Arrival at Glasgow is uneventful and we are out, in the car and home within an hour.
Afterthoughts
Wow!! I wish we were there now. It is an amazing place and our once in a lifetime has now become hopefully a lifetime of some trips back. All the planning and preparation cannot prepare you for what is Disney. The magic gets you and pulls you back somehow! We made some very good memories which will last us a lifetime. The first walk up through Main st towards the castle is an experience in itself. The girls little faces in awe of what was before their eyes. How wondrous it looked and it really is a happy place. We are at least home with a new countdown and i cant imagine just how depressed we would be without it. So we are set for next year, 23 nights although im sure it still wont be long enough. The same lovely villa is booked too as we just felt so at home. My Hubby just has to work hard to get it all paid, lol. Thank you to those of you who have taken the time to read my reports.
