We are going in January. Thankfully I booked a value resort because the prices for food has gone up dramatically. Liberty Tree Tavern used to be in the $30 range. I just looked and it's $44/pp. With tax and tip it will be well over $50/pp. Now I am not surprised why there was no problem getting reservations at any time we wanted. How are people eating at disney these days? Even the CS meals are expensive and I always thought they were fairly priced.

A lot of the TS meals at Disney, especially the character meals and all you care to enjoy options, have seen prices absolutely skyrocket. We find the prices have gotten so high it’s even getting hard to enjoy them. For us this also includes a significant currency conversion.

Yes, it’s very expensive to eat at Disney. I usually do breakfast in the room and either lunch or dinner at a QS and the other meal delivered to my room while I’m taking a break from the parks. I can get enough food from Kobe delivered to feed my family for two nights for less than the price of one TS meal. Reservations at everywhere except the top 3 seem much easier to get lately, so maybe others are cutting food out of their budget first.

Since DS usually doesn't finish a kids meal we tend to avoid buffet/all you care to enjoy since DS became a Disney Adult.

I have items in my room, like cereal, to eat for breakfast. I also bring snacks from home, mainly because they don’t sell my favorite snacks there. I don’t eat huge meals anyway, so at CS restaurants I eat mostly child meals. I only do one or two TS meals over the course of a week, and they are not AYCE, signature, or character meals.

Of course, if the main reason you are going to Disney is for the food, this may not appeal to you, but that is not my main focus so it works for me.

Gotten way too crazy expensive for us. We're down to maybe 1 TS every other trip, and that's fine. We're fortunate to live in a place with a lot of variety for restaurants, and mostly cheaper (prices around here have gone up a lot though recently...we joke that we're now paying Disney prices.)
We plan our Disney trips around festivals, and primarily try to do those for food, and I'm happy with many QS places like Satuli. Also, we do eat a fair amount of food in the room, lots of snacks, etc.
I do miss Boma.....for the 4 of us though, it would be close to $300....just not worth it for us.

After the latest round of price increases in October, we actually eliminated a few table services from our plans. We tend to share meals and are planning a lot of festival foods, lounges, and quick service. We tend to also eat a quick breakfast in the room. Luckily we enjoy a lot of quick service options.

We eat a late breakfast, dinner and a snack in between. We also order groceries now so we have snacks, water and beverages in the room. We have also cut down on character and sit down meals. We even ordered a lovely fruit platter and took it to the pool to enjoy. It was much healthier than the expensive snacks offered by Disney and was delicious. Yes food prices at Disney have gotten out of control! We have to find work arounds.

This is not specific to Disney, food prices at every restaurant everywhere are crazy.
This ^

Even fast food is insane. DH and I eat out maybe twice a year now, and that's usually only when invited by friends. Adding tips on top of the exploding prices, which has been an increasing percentage over the past 2 decades, just makes the costs obscene! Forget about ordering alcohol now. Our 'take-out' is now take and bake meals from Costco. It actually makes 1 bedroom and 2 bedroom dvc rentals less absurd if you use the full kitchens. Though the idea of cooking and cleaning on vacation bothers me.

Take the impact of inflation over several years, and add the Disney touch (aka charging even more, gotta pay the Bob Iger some how) and I find Disney posted prices out of line, but they can charge what they want as people keep going and keep paying those prices.

I was spoiled with free dining one too many times.
But after there was no dining plan for a while I discovered that I rather have a room rate discount and not eat at as many TS locations.
There is something liberating about not having to freak out about ADR's and timing it right for everything else.
And I am not one to eat that much at one time so the TS locations especially if they have big portions are off my list these days.
I go with 1 TS per trip now.
The rest is QS and snacks and I get what I want when I want and oddly enough during the summer even though I'm using more energy I tend to not feel as hungry.

Yes the prices are high but considering you can easily spend 25 a person without tax and tip at olive garden for a soft drink and main course.... yes you get soup (or salad) and breadsticks which can easily be your meal and also good save the rest for when your hungry and wont taste how bad it is. I just do not see Disney pricing out of line for meals, A number of the Snacks and QS soft drinks on the other hand are out of line.

Some Dis restaurants are worth it for the food, theming and convenience.
We prioritize those and add in festival foods if possible.

We bkfast at Dunkin, Cinnabon, Starbucks or similar before opening.
11ses is chocolate out of my backpack
Lunch can be either apps at a TS or a decent CS
Dinner is almost always TS

Orlando proper and the other theme parks are less expensive and offer incentives or discounts occasionally.

We have 8 day trip next week. The 4 of us have 3 meals booked - Storybook Dining, Wicked Wind Down, Rose & Crown Luminous. All late bookings. We have Space220 booked just for the 2 people in my party that haven’t done it yet. That’s it.

We plan to do QS and lounges when the mood strikes and I have to say it is so liberating not dealing with LLMP and ADRs bumping heads. Our LL days have no ADRs.

They way WDW is structured now, you can dig a hole for yourself buying too many bells and whistles. More used to almost always be better. Precision spending is where it’s at today.

Disney prices are what they are... but I have actually never been that offended by a lot of their counter service prices. Compared to some other places (zoo, sporting events, ect.) I feel like that they are not too terrible.

It is getting worse, but as others have said, prices at restaurants everywhere are up as well.

Yeah I rather spend my money at a Disney QS than step into a McDonalds these days. Chain fast food is highway robbery for terrible food.
And yes I'll starve before I buy food at a concert or sporting event.
