Finishing up the 5-book "Abram's Daughters" series and I see that in November 2005 "The Preacher's Daughter" series was going to be hitting the book stores..

Has anyone read it? If so, how many books are in that series - and has it been completed?

After reading all of these Amish books, it's going to be hard to switch over to something else, so I thought I would ask about this newer series.. I'll have to read something else once I finish this 5th book, but thought maybe I would see if I could pick up "The Preacher's Daughter" series (used) on Amazon.com..:goodvibes

Thanks for any info! :)

I read the 'Abram's Daughters' series and enjoyed those. Then I read some of her other books, but didn't enjoy them as much. Each one became too much like the others, and I would get confused with so many similar names from other books. But if you really enjoyed 'Abrams Daughters' you could certainly give the next series a try.

Honestly, I can't remember which books/how many are in each series but she does have quite a few books (enough to keep you busy all summer!). I think she has a website you could probably get all that info on.

Thanks for the replies..:goodvibes

I read her Lancaster County series quite a few years ago and that's what got me hooked on her books..:)

I'm getting a "server error" with the link provided here, so I'll google her name and try to go through there.. I'd really like to see what else she has for adults (she's written quite a few children's books as well) and see what kind of deal I can get for them "used" via the internet.. (No public libraries up here for my town.. boo..hiss..:headache:)

Hey- Just wanted to mention. I was in Books a Million last weekend and found about 10 Beverly Lewis series books for $3.97 each, Annie's People series, The Courtship of Nellie Fischer series and most of the Lancaster County series and a few others, they were cheaper than the last one I got used on Amazon (I love Amazon BTW).

She gets you hooked doesn't she?

Happy Reading!

What/where is Books A Million? I've never heard of that.. Is it local to where you live? Do they have an internet store? $3.97 is awesome! :thumbsup2

Yes - I really do enjoy her books.. I've even thought of looking at some of her children's books to see if there is something there for my DGD (10).. She too prefers "series".. No one likes to see a "good" book end.. LOL :goodvibes

The link is just for Beverly Lewis homepage

There are three books in the "Annies People" series
1. The preachers daughter
2. The Englisher
3. The Brethren

I have enjoyed every Beverly Lewis book I've read. I liked the "Preacher's Daughter" Series. I felt like the suspense was drawn out a little too long in the Abram's Daughters Series, but this series only has 3 books so it wraps up a little faster.

Do you have any experience with her children's books? Specifically something that would appeal to a 10 yr. old girl? I think DGD would be interested in reading about the Amish way of life - she enjoys reading/hearing about the "olden days" or lifestyles that are different than her own..:goodvibes

Hi C.Ann,
I have been a lurker for a long time, but I have some suggestions for "Amish" type books.
On of my favorites besides Beverly Lewis is Wanda Brunstetter. She has many different series out, and I have enjoyed them all.
Daughters of Lancaster County Series (3) books
Brides of Lancaster County Series (4) books
Sisters of Holmes County Series (3) books
Brides of Webster County Series (4) books
and a new series "Indiana Cousins" that just came out --haven't read the first one yet.

Another is Cindy Woodsmall: Sisters of the Quilt (3) books I really enjoyed these.
When the Heart Cries
When the Morning Comes
When the Soul Mends

Kim Vogel Sawyer Sommerfield Series (3) books
Bygones, Beginnings, and Blessings.

Hopefully you will be able to find some of these series and be able to enjoy them this summer while you are "up north".

No, unfortunately I am not familiar with any of the children's books. I guess you could always pick up one and see if she likes it b/f buying more.

:thumbsup2I just finished reading her series The Courtship of Nellie Fischer these books were very good, I would highly recommend this series.:thumbsup2

Hey Ann, Books a Million has a website and many stores in the eastern US it looks like, our closest one is an hour away. I don't know how to link. It looks like they had a few on the website for 3.97 but I didn't see how much shipping was, also I purchased several for 3.97 that the website has for $10. Such as the Redemption of Sarah Cain. I know she has some for young adults (Summerhill Secrets) hope that helps!

C.Ann you should try the Ann B. Ross, Miss Julia book series. Also, Janette Oke has a great series, older series, that I love to read over and over.

Love Comes Softly series/Janette Oke

Love Comes Softly, the first series from the pen of Janette Oke, follows the lives of one family through three generations—beginning with a hated "marriage of convenience," through hardships common to life on the prairie in an earlier time, leading at last to an abiding love. These eight stories reflect the enduring hope of Christian love and faith despite adversity and hardship.
Love Comes Softly
Love's Enduring Promise
Love's Long Journey
Love's Abiding Joy
Love's Unending Legacy
Love's Unfolding Dream
Love Takes Wing
Love Finds a Home
