My wife and I spent the ride home from seeing the POTC movie trying to list all of the references to the ride. we came up with about 15. Some were obvious, some were more subtle. Then I came up with idea of posting a thread on the DIS to ask people to list the references they saw. I'll start off with a few of the more obvious ones. Please add any others you can think of.

1) At the very beginning of the movie, the little girl sings "Yo ho Yo ho a Priates life for me". The song surfaces in bits throughout the film. Of course, this song is heard throughout the attraction as well.

2) (the most obvious) The pirates tempt a dog who is holding a ring of keys in his mouth. This leads to my favorite line in the film "That dog is never going to move!", a clear joke about the animatronic dog for has been sitting in the same spot in the prison scene of the attraction for 35 years.

3) The parrot proclaims "dead me tell no tales". This phrase is heard throughout the attraction.

4) A pirate (in skeletal form), drinks a bottle of rum (or was it wine?) and it pours right through him. A skeleton at the beginning of the attraction can be seen doing the exact same thing.

I have more, but I want see what you folks spotted.

The drunk man sitting with the pigs.

The skeleton with a sword inside him and a crab beside him.

I also have more but I wanna see if others caught em!!:teeth: :teeth:

I have a ton that I posted in an earlier thread. Lemme see if I can find that thread. :)

The red-head in the pirate town that jack went to to gather a crew looked a lot like the red head in the ride ("We want the red-head!)

Another thing that reminded me of something...although I didn't get a chance to ride PotC before they changed it, I've heard that there was a part of the ride that featured a pirate chasing a girl around in her underware. It was taken out because if offended some women (so I've heard) but I was reminded of that when they were chasing Elizabeth around the house.

On your thread Rajah...someone mentioned the pirate on top of the gold pile. At WDW, if I remember correctly there are soldiers tied up or being held prisoner on that pile of gold....I was wondering about that part of the "story".

I remember there being two officials tied up on something, but I don't remember if it was a pile of gold or a table at WDW.

At Disneyland, there's a pirate skeleton sitting on top of the pile of gold, and the gold is piled in a cavern that is a dead ringer for the one in the movie.

Oops, I've got to learn to use the search function before starting a thread.

The search function that doesn't work? ;)

*hugs*

I'm still curious to know what else you came up with.

Did anyone see a hidden Mickey? I was looking for one I heard about. It is formed by cannon smoke in the night sky toward the beginning of the movie. I couldn't find it:confused: Maybe on DVD:D

Micca,

It was when the moonlight was first shown in the film. You see a cannon burst and the smoke cloud that rises resembles a Hidden Mickey!

I did see the hidden mickey.
Did anyone see the leg hanging down?? Like the hair leg you pass under on the ride? This one had a boot on it ( I think) and was just outside Will's shop when Sparrow is trying to escape.

I didn't see the hidden Mickey the first time but I caught it the second time around.

I saw that hidden Mickey, and I *thought* I saw another one in the pattern on the moon about mid-way through the movie (I think when Elizabeth runs out onto deck after dinner).

Didn't see the leg, though.
