The Pools at the Disneyland Hotel

just talked to Disney, it would cost us $800 to move our reservation to PPH, they have no standard rooms anymore, but they are going to do their best to put us in the dreams tower. According to them both pools are in fact construction zones now but guests are more than welcome to use the other resorts pools. Although they will probably be packed. But hey, this is our first trip and I have waited to stay there my whole life, if I had to choose between rain and cold weather or hotel issues, I'd take hotel issues anyday. 4 days left, can't wait.

Okay, that is what I thought. I knew that both pools were indeed closed when we were there, but I didn't know if this was only a one day thing or not.

It really doesn't matter anyway, because the construction zone is so massive that there is NO way you would want to hang out right in the middle of it in the Neverland Pool. It is very noisy and dusty.

Perfect two similar questions asked of reservations and what do you know 2 "different" answers.

Please notice the picture the original poster took showed the tower they are working on now is only half done. You can tell by the darkness of the windows. Dark windows means room done, balcony and regular windows means rooms needs to be done.

I was told Magic tower would not start renovations till sometime after our visit May 5-10. She was not sure of date but for sure after our trip.

Miceage or is it Mouseplanet ususally does a post when an area is completed and as of yet I have not seen where any other tower but the Dreams is finished. Guess time will tell. Since we are going very soon. I will be the DLH construction secret spy/detective and get scoop for future travelers. But then again can you really trust a secret spy?

Any how having to go to GC for swimming privledges is just mean. now to swim I have to go to a pool that I have been wanting to try for years but have been to cheap to book a room with. How dare they make me do this slides, themeing, lovely pool area, just a fun looking pool area. I do get a new cover-up I can wear back and forth. Maybe a new suit is in the makings to hummmmmmm.

Well, they started the last tower (magic) in January, so there is no way they are waiting until May to do it, it's in the works. And I can verify that wonder tower was almost done. I don't think any of the old balconies were left.

We used the Neverland pool in January despite the construction, and it was just fine. When you're at the pool you can only see the walls and don't really notice it.

I sure wish they would give the reservationists a daily up-date of the construction and other important situations. No wonder they all use fake names. flora, belle, ariel I would not want to use my own name either.

I called the hotel directly to get my information about 2 towers done working on the third. You can probably call anytime for that since someone always will be at the main desk.

Verify where the person you are talking to actually is. While they might answer the phone saying DLH reservations they could be in another state. While they may tell you something, it helps to ask if they have first hand knowlege. No telling if they are telling what they heard or walked by the exterior and looked at the scaff holding themselves.

I always ask where they are located and have yet to get someone not located in SoCal.

I called and spoke to desk at DLH. Gosh I hope so but I asked but well I am losing all confidence in Disney at the moment. Anyway Yep true magic has been started and the other two are done. I explained why we would need to move-- Husband is having hospital bed delivered and those take a bit to set up. Should there be a sound issue it would be so hard to move husband , me ( I do home dialysis and will be having many boxes of supplies delivered that would need to be moved along with equiptment). We are a pair to draw to I know. LOL But you can see moving after the fact is not really an option.

Then she wanted me to take not dream but the other tower. True it is finished but husband is not able to go over ground without being in jeopardy of actually getting stuck and being tossed out of chair. Sign when does it end? She was not forth coming with the information work was still going on in that tower. Why must we ask questions or not be told information? I know sell rooms but how on earth would I know to ask that if not for the original posters post.

Anyway I am going to call back 10 days and 5-7 days before arrival to get some confirmation.

WOW, I have two friends and 1 brother who are on dialysis and even with home dialysis they would never take on Disney or anything else as complicated. Much respect for what you are trying to do and really hope all goes well.

Sounds like a mess, and I have to say I would be irritated to have paid that much extra to stay at the DLH, having to walk around to other entrances and having no pool without walking to one of the other locations. I'm sorry to hear you're having to deal with that.

We're planning our first DLH (not hojo) stay in Dec, and hopefully it will all be done then.

Thanks! Those are my beautiful kids. They are growing up now--but we thought we would surprise them with this trip. I am just amazed I was able to keep the secret for 2 months! I love how my little one (10 years old) was so worried about finishing her science project! She is the one who also figured out we were going to Disneyland rather than the airport to fly home. No worries, the Science Project is in progress as we speak. It is due Monday!

Thank -you Jack. Yes it is hard at times doing home dialysis. But after having to do Hemo-dialysis for near 3 months during a medical crisis I feel blessed that I am able to do treatments this way. I have been on the transplant list for over 4 years now. 16 months I have been on the inactive list but still gaining wait time. I just need to get well and stay well but as you are aware doing dialysis wears the ole body out. I know I am at top of list when a match is available so should not take me to long.

I have been to Disneyland one other time while on dialysis. I did fine -- better then I thought.

My Husband has Lou Gehrigs and as such with age and his illness this will be his last trip to Disneyland. He wants to see the grand kids enjoy the park as daughter did when she was little. I am going to do what ever it takes to make this trip one of his best. After all there are hospitals down there to if needed.

I hope your family is doing good. But I know both of our illnesses are unforgiving.

The hardest part of trip maybe finding out honest and current information from staff that can answer a phone. I say only let cast members that can give correct information and information that does not have to be cut out of the cast members mouth answer the phone.
