As you can tell from the title, we’re a Pooh sized couple. We’ll go by DH and DW for this story. Let us explain the screen name first. Jazcat is a combination of our names. JAZ is DH’s initials and cat stands for Cathy. DH is 29 and DW will turn 32 in September at WDW! DH is an IT professional and DW is a COTA. No kids yet, but we’re working on it. We do have three dogs, Milo, Frodo, and Chewie and one cat, Meggie.

DW went to Disney as kid. The combination of heat and crowds really turned her off. All DW remembers is the rude people and the long lines. DH had never been to Disneyworld.

When it came time to plan the honeymoon, all DH could talk about was a Christmas wedding (a story for another time) and a Disney honeymoon. Well DW would have none of a Disney honeymoon or the Christmas wedding. She was afraid there’d be too many kids and not enough adult things to do. DH thinks it was the thought of doing one adult thing, A LOT, at a place for kids. DW smacked him for thinking this.

So we’re doing a cruise to the Bahamas and a few days in Florida. While in Florida we saw all the cheap Disney ticket signs at our hotel. We asked about it and they said we had to go to a timeshare presentation. The presentation included free breakfast. Free breakfast and cheap park tickets? We’re in! They promise it’ll only take an hour and a half.

It took a lot more than an hour and half, as I’m sure you’ve guessed. They did a good job on us too. We didn’t but a timeshare that day, but we did buy a vacation through them. It was Westgate if you’re curious. We used it to go to Las Vegas, fell in love with it, and bought a timeshare in Vegas.

Why Vegas and not Florida? It seems a curious thing started that day. You see, we would up with tickets to Animal Kingdom. We both love animals and picked that as our one park to go to. To this day it’s still our favorite. We went to AK that afternoon, after it had rained all morning. You all know what that means. The park was practically empty. We had the best time ever.

After that day, DW started falling in love with Disney characters. She became as fascinated with Disneyworld as DH. She started a collection of Disney snow globes even. Eeyore was her favorite character.

So we love Disney, but bought a timeshare in Vegas? We had done our homework. If we owned a timeshare in Orlando, they’d never let us exchange it for another Florida resort, including a Disney resort. However, we hadn’t done enough homework to realize Disney had their own timeshare system yet. The Vegas timeshare would exchange just fine for a Disney resort, so we went for it.

Why are we rambling on about a timeshare? That’ll come up later. Suffice it to say we went to Disney World September 2006 for DW’s birthday. It was the trip of a lifetime. It’s a different story but this sums it up nicely:

Flash forward to April 2008. DH had become a disboards junkie and an avid listener to the Disunplugged. DW fell in love with the food porn thread. We were longing for Disney, but knew we couldn’t afford it. Or could we?

We got an email from Mousesavers about free dining. We thought about it, and April 15th we sent out a feeler on free dining. After all, we were just curious. It would probably be too much, right?

After some discussion, we decided on some ways to save money for the trip. DW got a part time job on weekends. DH started doing computer repair work on the side for more money. We decided to cut back on expenses. DH loves going to movies, but he has to go to the Cineplex with the digital screens that’s an hour away. That’s $20 in gas alone! No more of that. If he must see a movie, he does it at the $4 theater by our house.

We had a deposit on 5 nights at Pop by the end of the month. Just something small to coincide with DWs birthday in September, we told ourselves.

Yeah right.

To be continued

Well we got a quote for Sept 14-19th at POP and thought all week about it. I
DW wanted SEpt 15-20th but the rooms at POP for the 20th were booked. We could do 15th - 20th at ALl Star Sports but we decided instead to go to POP thanks to all Dis board info. After making the deposit, we got to thinking how cool would it be to trade in our timeshare and stay the next week. Well we did so we are staying at OLD KEY WEST the second week the only issue is the 20th so we are driving down to Cocoa Beach and spending the night and then coming back to DIsney,

We then decided to ask DH mom and stepdad to spend the second week with us. We are weird we love Disney and want others to experience it wtih us.

So now we started talking about ADR's by the middle of May of we had a list and called Disney but to our dismay most ADRs we wanted were booked. So plan B came into action. Asked about other restraunats/ times and planned around the ADR's.

Next post our ADR's

Also we need help picking CS meals even at resorts or parks please give us input.

Hi!

You are not weird for wanting to share your love of disney with others. We always take my mom with us. She loves to experience disney with her grandchildren.

My boys love Animal Kingdome too.

My counter service likes:

Magic Kingdom: I really like Casey's Corner.

Hollywood Studios: Backlot Express is my favorite for the different choices, adult beverages, and the wonderful service we received. That's explained in the first trip report.

I love, love, love, pepper market at Coronado Springs resort. We ate a cs meal there that was prime rib, roasted veggies and baked pot. not to mention our dessert and drinks, and it was a cs!!! It is one of the best cs restaurants of the resorts.

Hi :goodvibes Great PTR. Sounds like you guys got hooked like we did back in '03

Your upcoming trip sounds great ~ can't wait to read more :)

As for counter service meals, we LOVE Cosmic Ray's in MK & Lotus Blossom Cafe in Epcot. I know this isn't counter service, but BOMA is the best in WDW for breakfast and dinner!!!

Thursday Rose and Crown

So I should explain some of these two years ago we got a outside table for Rose and Crown and were able to watch Illumations from our table it was so romantic so I wanted to do it again. CM stated our ressies wre at six so we probably wouldn't get to stay for Illumations. I was so bummed

up next the change in ADR's thanks to fellow diser's
thanks you to those that gave us CS places we love all the input so keep sharing :)

1900 Park Fare is our new favorite.

My daughter met her prince there.:lovestruc

I am changing my ressies all the time. You are still not alone.

Ok so everything was set and then I started spending time here on this site so of course I'am reading all the reviews of the restrauants and now I am second guessing if I made the best ADR's

I read how bad Hollywood and Vine was and decided that if we couldn't get the Fantasmic ticket what the point so that got cancelled and I told DH I wanted 50 prime time cafe, He called Disney and we got it. I also was bummed over Rose & Crown and then went to allears and looked at the menu was I shocked. I forgot to mention I am a very picky eater I like to try new things but am always afraid that I would spend money on food I don't like so sometimes my wonderful DH let's me pick two meals one that I for sure will eat and one that I want to try, that way I can be adventures as I can. Now DH is very adventurious he will try anything so I feel bad o limit him at times
anyway I didn't like anything on the menu at Rose and Crown add to the fact that we would not see Illumations well what the point. So DH made Akershaus breakfast instead and canceled Rose and Crown.
