We are going to WDW in 9 days, My 5 yr old DD knows we are going but doesn't know where we are staying. Last Aug we stayed concierge at the Poly, today she tells me mommy I can't wait to stay at the Hawaii hotel again (she means the Poly), she tells me she can't wait to play on the beach and eat at the lounge and watch the cool parade on the water. HELP I want to cry we will be staying at All Star Music, We have been many times before and the All Stars were just fine, but now I have spoiled her and at such a young age LOL, Do you think things will be okay once we get there I hope so LOl

Same thing with my kids. Stayed concierge a couple of times and now whenever they find out we're staying at Disney they ask "are we staying concierge?" It's so cute, they mean it in the most innocent way because they had so much fun before.

Don't worry. Children love being at Disney. Most of the time, they don't care where they are staying. At least you know your daughter enjoyed her stay at the Poly and will probably again if you go back there.

I can pretty much guarantee you that you'll have a wonderful time.

PMart... your daughter will LOVE ASMo! She will find new things to love about this resort, and will add it to her "favorite" places. You may miss the Poly, but you'll enjoy ASMo, too.

I know what you mean. I made a mistake of staying at the Poly for my first visit to WDW. Loved it so much, I just had to stay there the next year too. This year we're going to stay at POR because we want to squeeze in two trips this year but if I had it to do all over again I would have stayed at a moderate first then went deluxe in future trips. My daughter is 12 now but she still talks about everything she likes at the Poly-the pool, the lobby, the rooms. Luckily she is old enough to understand what too expensive means.

You still have a week to get her excited about the ASMovies! Perhaps explain to her that memories are a wonderful thing to think about and cherish but another equally as wonderful thing is making new and different memories!

I have never been to this particular resort however get her excited about seeing the characters from the movies. Rent or purchase her some Disney films to watch before you go. Have her look at pictures of the ASMovies and make a list of the things she wants to see/look for first.

I bet if you get her involved in planning for the ASMovies at a level she can grasp it might disolve all dissapointment or anticipation she has for the Poly!

We've stayed at many of the Disney hotels - and really love them all!!! My youngest DD and I visited the All Star Movies in 2000, when we were staying at the Contemporary. When we made plans to visit around Christmas time, she definitely wanted to stay at the Movies! Since then, its her favorite hotel!! Last year, we finally got to stay at the Grand Floridian - and she was asking to visit the Movies!!!

I think your daughter will be delighted with the All Star Music! The pools are really nice, and the food court is pretty good too! I like the overall relaxed feeling at the All Stars. Also, I think the All Stars has some of the best bus transportation on property!! My daughter also liked putting her stuffed animals in the window - waiting for us to return! Enjoy your stay!!!

she will be just fine.... she will probably forget all about the Poly 5 minutes after arriving at ASM!!!! :p

You never know what a child is going to focus on.

We've traveled quite a bit and have stayed in some nice places, including the Disneyland Hotel in CA. But ask my kids what the nicest hotel they've ever stayed at is, and they will answer "The Holiday Inn Crown Plaza in Springfield, Illinios." The hotel messed up our reservation for a kid's suite, so they bumped us up to this weird room with a murphey bed and a HUGE jacuzzi tub. What I remember was that we had to have 3 rollaway beds in the room because it only had the murphey bed and there were 5 of us. What they remember is that they could all swim in the bathtub at one time!

I'll bet your child will find something to love wherever you take her!

Last December I took my nephews to Orlando as a Christmas present. Since they were getting the trip my mother and I picked the hotel we wanted...The Portofino. Well, the boys are spoiled now because they loved the hotel. (Big TV, pool view, sunken tub and a shower, pool with a slide)

My sister took them to Orlando in April. They just asumed they were going back to the Portofino. My sister had selected another hotel. So as they were driving Justyn (the oldest) said excitedly, "Mommy. You drove by the Portofino. Turn around, quick!!!." She said rather matter of factly, "We're not staying there." The boys said in unison and rather patheticly "No? Where not staying there?" She quietly said "No." They both turned around and looked out the back window of the car. The waved and said "Bye Portofino."

They still had a good time at the Best Western though and were just really glad to have gone at all. But when their mother let it slip that they were going again this December and that me and my mother (their grandmother) were going the first thing they asked me was "Are we staying at the Portofino?" I told them no. They were disappointed but I think when we drive onto the DW property and realize we are staying there this time this time all will be forgiven.

Our, twin DD's have been to WDW several times already and have found something to love in all of the hotels we've stayed at, at ASM they loved the Donald Duck Pool and the big Icons in front of the buildings, at AKL, they loved the pool and the animals, at OKW, PQRS, and DI they were too little to remember but still loved the pool, LOL. This time we are going Poly Concierge and they dont know where we are staying, but I'm sure they will love it too! Kids are very adaptable! We've gone on no less than 20 (maybe more?) trips to various places since we got the girls at 13 mos. ( they are from Russia, so they came to us seasoned travelers, LOL) and they did great at every one, seasoned travelers already. Its all about having fun to them, no matter where they stay. Kids take things at such face value. I'm sure your little one will forget all about the Poly once you are at Disney World and at ASM, all new things to focus on! Geez, I could have only dreamed of going on trips when I was growing up like my kids get to go on now before they are even 5! :D

I think she'll be fine.

Being a first time at ASM, there will be so much to see and do at the new hotel. And once she get's to see Mickey (or her favorite character) in one of the parks, that's what will really matter.

We've stayed in several places, and as long as we are there we're happy. Don't get me wrong, I think the choice of resort can enhance your stay, but it isn't necessarily what it's all about.

Relax, have a good time and just enjoy being at the Mouse's House.

Your DD wil Love the Allstars - the theming is so geared towards kids with the large characters and bright colours - she will have a great time and probably have a new favourite.

As a side note - my brother recently had his 50th birthday party up at his boat in the country... everyone went but we stayed at a local motel after the party.

The motel was very basic, 39.00 a night - when we got to the room asnd settled in - My DD9 asked when were were going to the Lounge for snacks LOL... she was really put out to discover there was no concierge at this motel!

Have a great trip

I think little ones are VERY adaptive. Even though she had a great time at the Poly, she'll have a wonderful time at the All-Stars too. I would tell her now though where you are staying and show her pictures so she will get excited about staying there.

Have a great trip!
