The Polynesian Resort Toy for the Monorail Set has been discontinued by Disney

Just called WDW by Mail and found out that it's true! The Poly building for the monorail set has been discontinued and they have no idea what will replace it! They are currently selling for $19.99 until they sell out, so if you have been wanting one of these, I suggest you buy now! The Grand Floridian set is also $19.99 (Contemporary is still $40).

I want to say that they did stop making that. You know that is only the resort, not the monorail??? I believe that when they stopped selling it, it went to the outlet shops to be sold there. I know the EPCOT globe did because I had thought about getting a second one I would not pay that price for shipping though.. I had looked at it & considered buying it (have the monorail, Contemporary & the EPCOT Globe), but it wasn't made as sturdy as the other peices, so I never did get it.

When you first posted you stated that had it seen it on ebay for like $25 & a very high shipping rate. You asked if it was possible that it was discontinued. When I posted, I posted in response to that one, not your edited one. That was why I anserwed the way I did. I thought I had seen it at one of the outlets, which there are times that they do have full priced items (and the Poly may have been one of them). I know for a fact the Outlet had the EPCOT Globe because I had it in my hands & really thought about getting a second one...

I called WDW today and they confirmed what you and the Ebay seller said. I was less concerned about what he/she is charging on Ebay, but more concerned about the toy being discontinued! Yes, he/she is asking for too much to ship on Ebay. Disney is currently selling them for $19.99 plus $8.95 shipping.

Thank you.... you really had me wondering which was why I looked in my history and ebay I know my kids keep telling me that I say things and then say I didn't...but that is just them trying to get away with something.. ie: Yes, you can spend the night at a friends... they will say I said it & I know I didn't. thank you again for confirming my sanity

Forgot to mention, that isn't too bad of a deal. The ebay one wasn't. I think the shipping was like $21.. it still has like 3 days on it. You figure $25 & $21...nope.... order from Disney.. what number did you call? I am debating maybe I will .. I do remember touching it & thinking it wasn't as sturdy as the others (CR & Globe), which was why I never did get it to begin with. Not that I can fit anymore under my tree I have the WDW RailRoad, Monorail, CR & EPCOT Globe. The last 2 years I haven't been able to put them around the tree, one of my dogs seems to "like" them too much & tries to "take" them away and we had to keep putting the train and monorail back on it's tracks. I am thinking maybe this year to set them up on a table somewhere, but need a very big table.

Do these pieces have to be ordered or can they be purchased when we are down there? We will be there in a little over 2 weeks. My son is an avid collector of all things "monorail". LOL He is very interested in getting these discontinued items!

Yes, they can be purchased at Disney

...after saying that it wasn't made as well as the Contemporary & EPCOT Globe I bought one anyway I was at Disney for the MNSSHP on 10/2 & was shopping in DTD. I went into Once Upon a Toy & it was there along with the Grand Floridian for $19.99.... I couldn't resist. I bought both of them. $42 something with tax...and no shipping since I was already there. They had several of them then. They were also in the outlets as well. I want to say I saw them in the MK, but I can't remember if it was there or EPCOT. So if anyone wants one & they are going, there may still be some left.

I hate to say it, but I was never a big fan of the Polynesian or Grand Floridian accessories for the Monorail. The SSE and Contemporary ones are neat though -- and I'd love to get the rail switch station but I do believe DW would kill me.

I set my Monorail up underneath our Christmas tree in the living room every year, going around the snow village made up of Disney & D56 pieces.

Was just at the Contemporary where they have the whole set up downstairs. My parents got my dd the castle last year and they are getting her the monorail this year. Did they discontinue the Epcot sphere too?

As of today, Once Upon A Toy, at DTD still has all the pieces. Only a few Polys left, maybe 8 or so at $20.00.

We leave monday!!?!? let's hope they still have some! We weren't too fond of the poly or the grand pieces but hey at that price may as well! DH puts it all up under our tree with the WDW railroad too! he's a freak, but he's my freak!!
