The Poly run down? Say it isn't so!

I think the Lagoon view will be nice for New Years. When we come back in the Spring I'm going to try GV concierge It is such a hard choice but I loved the Lagoon view we had at the GF. I am big on the views although I love concierge too.

No problem. I would hate for you to get the wrong impression of the resorts condition. If you pay for a lagoon view at the Polynesian you will always be facing the MK and lagoon (with an exception of two rooms that still have a view of the castle) so I am sure you would love the view. I know with the GF you could have a lagoon view that faces the Polynesian and not the MK. You will also have a larger beach area with the Polynesian. . The important part is to know what theme you will enjoy and pick the resort that appeals to you.

Just had to add my 2 cents in here. We just stayed at the Poly in March and will be going back in August. It is not rundown. We are DVC members, but actually the Poly is my favorite resort right after my "home". Like everyone else said, you have to like the theme of a resort. People go crazy over the WL, but for my family the theme just doesn't do anything for us. AGAIN, I have to say as I have said many times before, the best thing about Disney is that there is something for everyone. Thank goodness everyone doesn't like the same resort or nobody would ever get a room!!!

You will love the Poly if the theme appeals to you. I didn't love it and I doubt I'll ever stay there again, but the main reason is that I really didn't like the theme. I'm not a "tropical" type of person (living in Florida for years ruined the appeal for me) so I enjoy the WL and YC and BC much more. Honestly, the only thing that gets me back to Florida is WDW!

Anyway... as long as the theme appeals to you, you will LOVE it!
