I checked into the Poly for 11 nights, ( I requested through TP, hoping it would better my chances) Samoa 3rd floor with balconly facing the volcano pool. ( I know that is the most popular request , but I figure I give it a try). It was not available when I checked in, I received Fiji 3rd floor with balancing facing towards GF. The gentleman at the front desk said, since your staying for so long try in a couple of days some other rooms should open up. Then on top of it when I checked into the room, it seems a little ran down, stains on carpet, gashes on bathroom wall and some furniture. I haven't stayed in 13 yrs, but it seemed a little more up kept then. So, I'm probably going to change rooms in a few days, but do I give up a balcony for a better building and if so what rooms would you request? Or what rooms/building do you like in general? Thank you!

If you like your view, I would just keep it. Chances are you still won't get Samoa.
Every room will have something wrong if you look for it, there are tons of people staying in them. Stains will happen. :)

You don't necessarily need to give up the balcony. If you want to switch rooms, when you go to the front desk, ask what's available and, if you don't like it, just keep what you have.

You could ask for third floor Samoa again (either volcano or quiet pool view are nice). We've stayed in Fiji (both third floor marina side and first floor luau cove side, where you are), but I don't know if you want to stay in that longhouse. We also love Rarotonga, 3rd floor facing the quiet pool. It's super convenient to GCH. IMHO, there isn't a bad longhouse at Poly, so perhaps think what your priorities are (third floor?, closer to pool? view of something other than parking lot?) and go from there. Maybe simply take a walk around the resort and see which location is ideal to you and go from there?

I think you have a great room. I would stay put. We had Fiji 1st floor marina view. We loved it.

As someone else said, these rooms are seeing guests on a daily basis and the crowd traffic has definitely increased in 13 years since you last were there. Things are going to be wrong with the room. If Disney were to try and fix every nick, scratch, stain, the rooms would all be out of service for so long that no one would ever be able to stay in one!!!

Yes, I agree! We had 1st floor marina in Fiji during our last stay there and I loved it. It was funny because I requested 3rd floor, Fiji, marina side and got 1 out of 3 requests but it turned out to be the best! Almost every night, I would walk out the patio door and simply sit on the luau cove beach and typically had a private view of the electric water pageant and fireworks every night.

We also requested 3rd floor but really loved our first floor!

OP - it won't hurt to ask in a few days to see what you can get. Maybe Samoa will be ready or you can switch to the Marina side of the building you are already in. :) We requested Niue for our upcoming stay, but who knows what will happen!
