The Point Orlando

Hi

We are looking for a decent hotel to stay on a budget for 2 nights prior to our universal hotel stay whilst we explore orlando.

Does anyone have experience with The Point Orlando as they seem to have a good price for the time of year we are going at Christmas time.

Is it in the area people refer to as 'safer'

Pointe Orlando is on I-Drive, and a nice area. We stayed within walking distance of it once, and it wasn't bad.

It is one of many hotels bought by an International company for their portfolio. I don't think they heavily market to US guests so that may be why it's name doesn't up often. I would look up some reviews on YELP maybe and get a feel for it.

For me, I would not stay in that area. I have stayed a few times on International Drive/Universal Drive but always stay south of Via Mercado.

I have since found a better offer for the Marriott Grande Vista. I'm thinking it will suit us better

It sounds like you are staying else where but in case someone else does a search. We stayed there a week ago for three nights. We had a two bedroom deluxe and it was huge. We had 5 adults and two kids. We used the full kitchen and dining area. The carpets were pretty worn but they are in the process of renovating. Very convenient location to Universal. We used their shuttle service and it was a 5 minute drive. Technically it's walkable but I wouldn't walk it. I think the bus driver said a cab would be about $7. If I needed a lot of space I would stay there again.
