The Plaza or Tony's Town Square?

This one is hard! I love them both :lovestruc. I listed my pros and cons for each. Although - for me - the pros out weigh the cons. Remember - I love both of these!

Tony's Pros:
Great atmosphere
Love the Spaghetti and Meatballs
Love to sit in the Atrium

Tony's Cons:
It's always freezing cold inside the main room
Appetizer portions are small for the $$

The Plaza Pros:
Shakes and Malts - Yummy!
Love the dessert options!
It's fast - you can be in and out very quickly
CM's are nice!

The Plaza Cons:
Booth-like seats are not as fluffy as they appear - sit down slowly :lmao:
Big open room - can be loud
Menu choice is more like a sandwich shop (I wish for more warm entrees)

The plaza restaurant!!!! We eat there everytime we are in WDW. We ate at Tony's once and didn't like it.

I see that you're going during free dining. We ate at Tony's last year for a late lunch during free dining and were disappointed that they were only serving selections from their regular dinner menu and nothing from the lunch menu. We were looking for sandwiches and wound up with large entrees - not what we had in mind. The Plaza would have been a much better choice for us, but we generally eat there twice each trip anyway.

If you don't mind limited dinner menu selections only at Tony's and are looking for Italian, it's a good choice. Our meal was tasty, just not what we were in the mood for. The restaurant is very, very pretty, but I do agree that it's subzero in there!

The Plaza was a pleasant surprise for us several years ago and has been a must-do ever since. It's very no-nonsense, very good sandwiches and tasty ice cream desserts from the ice cream parlor next door. We've never been disappointed at the Plaza.

Have a great time!

Right now I had ADRs for Tony's at lunch... I was just thinking of switch to the Plaza for lunch or dinner- if they have availabilty of course... I still don't know what to do! ugh! :rotfl: Thanks for the help though!

I don't like Tony's either! But I LOVE the Plaza!

I just don't care much for the food at Tonys, and I am a sandwich gal so Plaza is perfect for me. Also, who doesn't like to top off a great sandwich with an ice cream sundae?

Also, I like the atmosphere at the Plaza better.

I'm looking for an TS in MK that we can pay OOP for... Which do you prefer and why? TIA!! :)

Tony's Town Pizza is a very good resturant. It's more of a dinner resturant where Plaza to me is more of a burger place. They both are good.
Since your paying OOP Tony's will be more money. So you really have to see what would work for you. CK out the menu's.

The Plaza hands down.

Pros:
Charming Victorian setting (a major plus for me;) )
Good food
Good prices
Attentive CMs

Cons:
When you finish your meal you're too stuffed for dessert!!!

IMHO Tony's sucks. But again that's just my opinion. Tony's has die-hard fans and their opinions carry weight as well.

Good luck!!

We loved Tony's--We ate there for an Early Lunch last Sept.
Our Food was Very Good--Grilled Salmon, NY Steak, Bianca Pizza--
everyone really enjoy there food and agreed that this was the
Best TS that we had ate at all week.
The Dessert was Yummy, also.
Our Service was Excellent.
I think the decor in the inside is very pretty--love the
Lady and the Tramp Theme.
We have ADRs for our upcoming Sept. Trip!:thumbsup2
It doesn't bother us if most people don't like Tony's--
it's our Favorite!!

Ditto!! We ate at Tony's for lunch on Day 1 of Free Dining last year and were DEVASTATED that they were serving the dinner menu all day (Ok, devastated might be stretching it a tad ;) ). We ended up eating off the appetizer menu instead since we were not there for free dining. If only I had known, I could have made that ADR for a day earlier and eaten from the lunch menu!!

Later in the week we had dinner at the Plaza since Teppan Edo didn't open on time and we had a HECK of a time filling that ADR. We enjoyed the Plaza. It is quite small, but good service, decent food, great ice cream.

No, DEVASTATED quite sums it up! :rotfl: With having to book so far out for a meal and relying on online information, for them to say "Oh, it's only the dinner menu" like they're doing you a favor was ludicrous.

We wind up at Tony's every few years to give them the benefit of the doubt. We had a terrific time there on our honeymoon 14 years ago, back in the days of breakfast and L&T waffles, but that was about it. One good dinner there in 2002, but our other 3 tries have been vastly disappointing. :sad2:

I was so wanting a panini that day last September!! :rotfl2:

ETA: Their tiramisu is awesome, though. :)

We really enjoy the Plaza restaurant. The last time I ate there was in September '07, but we were very pleased and enjoyed the food & service was great!

I wouldn't put faith in most people opinions on any restaurant--
I would go and try it for myself and form your own opinion.
We were very happy we ate at Tony's and not listen to the
nay sayers because we had the best TS meal of our whole
week trip.

Paying OOP, I'd choose the Plaza. I'd feel too ripped off at Tony's, paying those prices for a plate of so-so spaghetti.

Many years ago Tony's was fine, now the prices have gotten out of hand, Plaza has been a great place for a lunch and prices are much better.......

Oh how we LOVED the Tony's breakfast back in the day... that stuffed french toast was AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am glad I wasn't the only one upset about the dinner menu last fall when I really wanted a panini :flower3: We have it booked for lunch again this December and THEY BETTER HAVE IT!!! :rotfl:
