The Plaza during fireworks

Our reservation is at 8:35. Fireworks are at 9.
I didn't think my cousin would want to see the fireworks, but he recently expressed some interest! So I'd like it if he could get a glimpse for a couple minutes (I think that's all he'll want, really - pretty sure the noise/crowds will overwhelm him after that)!

My question is: Has anyone here dined at The Plaza during the fireworks? Do you know if outdoor seating is available during that time? And is there any 'glimpse' happening?

They don't have outdoor seating. Those tables are for the ice cream shop nearby, or anyone that just sits there. Unfortunately, there will be lots of people and umbrellas from those tables blocking most of your view even if you were near a window. He may be able to step outside and catch a a glimpse; if I recall, they keep that walkway moving so he could at least get out the door during them but they may not let him stand there for long.
